i’m schizophrenic myself and i’ve been on many different medications throughout the years and at one point i was on zyprexa as well. it blew me up real quick. i went from being 120lbs to 230lbs within 4-5 months. and it did not help much at all. i was still going in and out of mental hospitals and still struggling severely. i went back to seroquel eventually. not saying it’s a bad medication, but it was not good for me

Did you have better weight management on Seroquel? I'm having a big problem with my weight on Olanzapine.

@@ZhaneMGiles definitely. once i got back onto seroquel after being on zyprexa for a few months, it took a while, but i managed to get back down to 160. for me it was kinda hard to lose the weight at first and it took time but it started going back down eventually. still losing the weight currently !!

@@ZhaneMGiles Seroquel and olanzapine both cause a lot of weight gain for the majority of people I've seen. It's different for everyone of course.

When we talk about the "pines", most people seem to forget that there's actually a fifth pine, loxapine, which is a structural analogue of clozapine. Someone should do a study on that, for treatment resistant schizophrenia.

I use loxapine often. It has less metabolic side effects than all other first generation antipsychotics. I have no idea why it's virtually never used and in my opinion should almost be an almost 1st line choice when a FGA is required.
