- In this one I take out the Sony a5100 for some night photography around Central London.

I use my a5100s for low light and night video a lot. I have a 23mm Viltrox f1.4 lens that I use for video and stills. I can clean up noise if necessary in post. No problems with the a5100 -- I have 3 and they are just great little cameras for video or stills. Enjoyed your show ... Cheers

Love the reflection shots! I have loved doing street photography the last two times I've been over to London and feel my recent trip I got some really good shots thanks to watching a couple different guys on here that do it. It depends what time of the day and environment I’m shooting in. I tend to do manual in low light and aperture priority in the day for street.

a5100 still good this time
It can hold its own all how it’s used right.
this is such a helpful video! i have the a5100 for concert photography but was thinking of upgrading the lens. do you have any recs for more zoom than the base lens & good for low light?

I’m for concerts I get it depends what your aiming to capture is it more the crowd and area or the performer?
But I would be looking at
14-24 on the wide side and 70-200 on the other end.
If money is tight Tamron is good option good quality and reasonably priced even better on used market.
Sigma or Sony if you have the cash to spare.

Hi. I use a cage from smallrig for the a5100.
what lens have you used? amazing!
The majority was shot with the sigma 14-24. Which works out to be approximately 20-35mm on an APSC camera after you take the 1.5 crop into consideration.

Is all of this done on manual exposure? Or did you use a select setting like aperture or shutter priority?
Hey anything you see shot at night on this camera will be manual settings. I may use auto setting during the day.
I’ll be looking to do a video on a5100 settings soon as people have been asking.

2:30 dude they clearly didn't want to be photographed, you took the photo anyway and uploaded it for everyone to see
I hear where you are coming from, if they had come and asked what I was doing or if I took a photo and wasn’t happy with me doing so then thats a different story Which I would not use.
Just looks like the fella's on his phone, he don't seem bothered, just seen the camera, happens all the time
Anyone know where I can find a cage for the a5100?
Only on the used market if you can find one. Could be worth trying to contact small rig direct and see if they will do any.

One thing is for shure, that`s not a camera for night photography.
That is some really nasty footage you got there. The photos are flatter than flat and have no detail.
Better luck with another camera.
