I spent 3 days trying to get the Bolt from hell to loosen.
Banging it, manual impact driver, electric impact driver, more banging the bolt top and the flats of the bolt, wd40, rust blaster, more banging.
Boiling Hot Water, was the only suggestion I found on YT and Google that Worked!!!
First pot of boiling hot water over the Bolt, I finally got it to slightly budge. The seventh pot was the charm, finally continued turning till it finally came out. Happily the Pulsator also lifted out with no further problem.
Was getting dark flakes in the washer drum water and could see them more so in the discharge water emptying into the Laundry Sink.
Learned from YT/Internet they were probably coming from mold from the underside of the Pulsator and sure enough the underside was caked with the gunk.
Used the Power Scrub setting on the Dish Washer, to get it to clean up like new..

*FYI* Using Thread Lock on bolt will save Headaches AND money. When the bolt works loose it lets the spline in agitator strip making you buy another replacement disc. I shimmed mine with aluminum strips and GREEN thread lock compound after it loosened and stripped within a week of being in the local Maytag repair shop. The repair guy used original bolt and no thread lock compound.

My washer was making a loose and grinding noise, wasn’t spinning the load. I tried the shop vac to the drain line first to make sure it wasn’t a clogged line and sensor issue first. It wasn’t!
The metal hex/gear shaped shaft inside the pulsator in mine stripped through the plastic. I used a 13/32 impact bit on my drill. The plastic layer crumbled where the screw goes through.
I wanted to try and glue fix it before buying a new part.
I tried using about a bottle of loctite superglue to glue the shaft back in there.
Didn’t work and it stripped out right away after reinstalling it. It was just floating in there.
Ordered a new screw and pulsator for about $95 shipped.
FYI these guys charge about the same as Amazon. That’s impressive.
I am Praying that the new pulsator and screw do the job.
    Hoping mine isn’t something worse.

Fixed! I got the new wash plate and a new screw, I used the old screw and it worked fine. Perfect fix.
Towels are washing great now and mom is happy.

If the old pulsator sticks and is impossible to get out, pour some boiling water into the bolt area an let it set a minute...pops right out without damaging anything.

Do you need to grease the bolt before reinstalling it?

    • @GetRealBaby
      @GetRealBaby 5 ปีที่แล้ว

No, do not grease the bolt. The grease will get into the wash water and contaminate your laundry, and I don't think you want grease in your wash. The bolt will not rust, but be sure to add a lock washer before reinstalling the bolt, not thread lock as one guy suggested, unless you want thread lock in your wash.

I've done everything to remove my Maytag Bravos XL washer pulsator (some call it a washer plate)...it won't budge. It raises up about 1/2 inch and seems to hit something, like it's locked in place. I want to check for coins that may be stuck underneath. I don't know what else to try. I tried turning it from side to side, as if it's washing, but it won't move back & forth either.....not sure if that's possible with the power off.

    • @appliancepartspros

Are you using the ratchet with the long extension? It can be hard to get the necessary force in such an enclosed space otherwise. If so, you can try soaking it with a penetrating oil like Rust Buster, because it may be corroded.

For everyone having trouble with their Samsung, take the stupid thing back and demand your money back. It's common knowledge now that these Samsung machines are crap-o-la. There's been several recalls. On our Samsung, the company did a recall because the lid would suddenly explode off and has injured the owners. You'll get a sob story from the company that your machine is too old, or whatever, but don't be fooled. A machine that can't be cleaned or is dangerous MUST be taken back and your money returned. Period.
