Thx for the video, helped me a lot. BTW took me 30min to unhook the clutch cable. Had the file the end a hair... BTW you should readd sealent to those two points. I did not do it either. BTW2: I have versys-X - same engine block, clutch and all.
SOLVED: For issues with the clutch pack not engaging after installing new plates and springs, the steel clutch cover that goes on after the clutch pack is installed and before the springs are installed needs to be rotated 90 degrees. When you do this, it will seat 1-2mm deeper on the pack. Once this is done, when you pull on the pull rod that's in the center of the clutch, it will also pull the entire clutch pack toward you. That's how you know the cover is installed correctly. Lastly, the pull rod has to go on before the bearing and clutch cover are installed. My buddy and I spent 12 hours troubleshooting this problem and this was the solution. Good luck!
If you have the same issue in this video, the Operating Clutch Plat that covers the basket is not seated all the way down. You will know if it is seated properly because the clutch plates will be tight, otherwise if not seated properly they will have some play. Pay very close attention to that cover plate to save yourself a great deal of time.
I just did this on my ninja 400 and the clutch is slipping like crazy, in every geari can give it throttle and there's not much bite. Luckily I made it to work this morning. I watched the whole video, installed brand new plates that were soaked for the same amount of time as yours and it came out worse than the old plates. The only thing I can think of, is that my steel plates have a smooth side and sharp side, I installed all the steel plates smooth side out (towards me). Mine aren't textured like yours either.
The texture (friction pads) on them are what cause them to grab each other and not slip. These are the first clutch plates I’ve ever installed, so I’ve never seen a kind with a smooth side. No idea how that would work 🤔
Wrap a zip tie around the friction plates when u soak them so tou don't have to dip your hand in the oil, not being judgy , oil makes great cologne imho lol
As you can see @th-cam.com/video/7WfanW3tGZk/w-d-xo.html the clutch spring is not put behind the pin. If you forget this spring then your clutch lever will be loose. I followed this video from start to finish and encountered the same problem.
Don't remove the pin out from the clutch cover! keep it in and just place the cover on the rear peg while replacing the clutch. Will save you a lot of time.
what is the torque spec in them spring screws?.. is there any other torque spec required to do the job? thank you for your posting. new bike owner 2015 ninja 300 it needed a clutch got it for 800 bucks it's a new bike. need fairings .. I got the clutch in today and plan to get on it this weekend. 4 day weekend should be plenty time to complete it
My clutch bearing always slip off from it's place when I try to put the plate with bearing back, should it be like that or should it firmly sit in place? Thanks
You didn’t explain the 2 rings Flat first than the bent one make it bend inwards Yes soak your plates overnight That is important as well as installation and removal always in the star pattern. Don’t just put your Milwaukee on and pull all of them off.
You need to put a small silver spring between the actuator longer end and the internal basket of the clutch ( Not the clutch cover) bike. You probably dropped it whilst removing the clutch cover.
devin ervin unfortunately not ,but it’s a spring that is approx. 3cm in height and 2.5cm wide & it sits on the head of the engaging pin. I’ll look for the link and post it on this comment to the part number
What is a cover gasket??? The gasket should ALWAYS be replaced it's a few $. Use permatex high tack gasket sentant plus a fresh new gasket!!! Or regret it..
Am I missing something? You put the clutch in and made mistakes and fix them. I was safely assuming that you were going to ride the bike after you put the new clutch in?
Isaiah Lopez sorry I can’t diagnose it remotely. I’d suggest watching the whole video and seeing if you can recognize anything you may have missed or done wrong 🤷♂️

I could not understand,i am also facing the same issue with the clutch pull, the pull rod is not pulling back the clutch.
can you please do a video on that?

Check to see if there's a ground wire on the engine to the frame. It might have taken a hot one from the charging system.

Yeah except for the fact that the cover won’t come off unless u do remove the pin 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m having that issue with the long pin having no tension with the clutch cable on it, how’d u fix yours?

Would this clutch work for a ninja 300 2014
+@junez8 ask the manufacturer to be sure
Is that the original rear brake lever or a replacement? If so what do you have? Mines been bent back into place but is rusting
+Clayton Fisher original one was snapped off when I got the bike so it’s one I bought either on Amazon or eBay. Sorry not sure the model or anything.
How did you solve the problemof dengage space between pin & cable holder
you shouldn't have removed that part
Is there any special tools I need?

Whats the trouble shoot for the clutch cable ?
+jackoch I’m not sure, sorry
All good, Thanks for showing us the practical work !
At 28:12 the writing is top right. In the beginning you said that you would remember it was top left
Btw it’s not recommended to soak ur metal plates just the clutch plates
+Ducky Does moto I assume it isn’t necessary but certainly shouldn’t hurt anything, right?
My clutch bearing always slip off from it's place when I try to put the plate with bearing back, should it be like that or should it firmly sit in place? Thanks
UMG Production mine was held in place by friction. Not sure if you’d is ok like that or if it needs to be replaced.

I rode it after, I just didn’t film it. What did you miss?
Did you ever figure out to fix it having the same probably can’t figure it out
Did I figure what out? It’s working fine. The video shows the fix.
My clutch cable is loose I have the same bike iguess it’s not catching? Do I have to take the whole plate back on?
Isaiah Lopez there are two places to tighten the cable. By the lever and where the cable connects to the clutch on the side of the bike.
The clutch lever isn’t firm it’s lose it stays in when I pull it in
