PAPAJI - How the Universe comes out of Emptiness?

  • In this powerful discourse at the beginning of Satsang on the 17th December 1992, Papaji addresses Emptiness.
P: "The inherent nature of gold is to be carved into shape. There's no difference and no such thing as multiplicity and unity in the gold. Consciousness, emptiness can take any shape. Whatever it thinks so does it become. Kalpas, Yugas will come, stay and dissolve again and again. Consciousness creates this universe without losing its own nature. It is the inherent nature of the ocean to create waves."
Papaji uses the analogy of the snake and the rope:
"Why this creation has been created to give trouble to so many people? Because you were not aware. The rope looked like a snake but the snake was never present. Because of your ignorance, because of darkness, you called it a snake and fear arose. On close investigation, you find there was no snake. You are going to investigate in the consciousness, where does this universe abide? Looking closely, like the snake, it's going to disappear. Never did anything arise. Investigate who am I? Who is in trouble? There is no suffering, it’s only imagination of the mind."
    Jai Gurudev...

I went to India to stay with Papaji in 1996 for a month at his Ashram near Lucknow! He made sure everyone was going to have a seriously good laugh. I was with him every day. Finally, in my hotel room, I laughed for 2 hours straight and the laughter nearly killed me. He gets everyone! Later, i travelled to Bodhgaya and was sleeping in a grass hut there and was really freezing. Papa appeared to me in a vision and actually took my blanket from the ground and covered me with it and then disappeared. How did he do that? How did he make everyone laugh so deeply? His bliss is enormous. I reach this supreme bliss every day now. It is beyond human capacity at times. He make look like he is not in any such state so plain faced, but this man is supremely blissed out!

I first learned how to collapse the wave function and deliberately condense electrons into whatever I held in my mind by studying quantum mechanics and neural plasticity. I became materially wealthy in this realm of perceived solidity because of it. You realize though that acquiring the money isn’t the final goal. Eventually all you want to focus on is resting in the permanent truth, in Union and harmony with God. Nothing else matters Because its all an impermanent illusion.

All our desires come from the ego? If it is true, after we die, our ego dies too with it all our desires. Why do we need to remove all our desires from the ego in life before it be destroyed when we die?

    • @jyotianand7987
      @jyotianand7987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Our subtle body carries our desires which is the cause of our rebirth. Our attachment to our desires brings us back to be born again. Desire is energy and cannot be suppressed, therefore they have to be understood and let go, or experienced without being attached to the outcome.

But see collection of desires is you, please remove your all desires and memories of past for a moment and then use your brain to see if there is some one who you call "I". Just do it for sake of experiment. It will not take more than 1 second, trust me for a while. they are the same thing,if you sit in meditation and meditate on the question who am I, it will dissolve the questioner and what will remain is the formless aspect of God otherwise known as "emptiness"

@Avalokita I have a problem with awareness. Awareness often suggests that it is somekind of something, but in a kind of a soullike entity contrasted with the world of material/experience. It's different from the now and bigger than this. Everything is already awareness, the outsideworld is awareness, you are awareness in that sense: Everything that is, is you.

The universe was 'created'? Which "universe"? Created by whom? There is no objective "universe" and therefore there can be no "creation" of it.

@@coolgamerman that's how I see it too. I like to see this "reality" as a dream. As one of many possible realities. This is simply atheistic using any explanation but God, I call this avoid-ism that's all. Avoiding God or rejecting Him and it's true if one does so turning away everything is void. Turning towards Him... The heart everything becomes full with indescribable happiness. Emptiness is just void. If the gold was already there then ask who made the chain. Have we ever seen a chain that became a chain by itself? Someone with intelligence was there to use the gold....Does anyone has experience of a self creating material object from matter like a house for example? All the ingredients needed for a mobile phone for example of together by emptyness? No person behind the machine?..No operator? No planner no architect? Just from nothing.... Atheists like that idea very much but it's just an idea not reality. So that is not a very good argument self creating matter. There is great intelligence behind creation DNA for example. Intelligence means person... Not nothing. Emptyness nothingness has no properties no variety no activity is just.. It is something that doesn't exist. It certainly is not the source of creation because it can't create. But we are alive each with individual consciousness and it will always be like that.

You should probably read Papaji's biography to understand what he is talking about. He was a great Krishna bhakta before meeting Ramana and realizing the Self and no separation from God. His teaching is non-duality, not atheism.

Two kinds of fool have met each other here.
The first kind firmly belief that, supreme God has a concrete form that is changeless, God can never be formless.
Second kind think God is impersonal and only formless, he can't be presented in form.
But intelligent knows God in form is as much truth as God in formless. Only because of form conception of formless is possible and only for formless, form is there. And lastly Supreme God is beyond both.

@@theperfectcelibate8669 No dear you are little confused. Your logic "Only because of form conception of formless is possible and only for formless, form is there." is quite good. All forms, shapes, colour and experiences are due to consciousness and in consciousness, yet consciousness has no form, no shape, no colour and no design. Suppose if God or consciousness already has shape how a shape can be created in shape. To create a shape there should be a thing empty of shape, so creation is possible in void or in nothingness. and in the last you wrote "And lastly Supreme God is beyond both.", which is correct for the purpose of analysis, otherwise everything is non-dual. I would like to ask you "Is it your intuition, hearsay and self-knowledge". Lastly at least be respectful to other person, what will you get calling other fools. Is this not arrogance of self proclaimed intelligent.

Your whole argument falls flat the moment “you” realize there is no causation beyond the realm of mind and therefore your concept of cause and effect dies along with “you” and your conceptual world when the mind dies and beyond that? Beyond that, there is no talking of silence! It just is

Sorry but this is false. Who is suffering? Yes the mind will come out screaming, "I am suffering!?"
If you look for anything else that's suffering, it'll be easier to find a needle in a hay stack, but never find the that entity.
This "who is suffering?" Is a way to deflect and mislead everyone. There is No "Who".
