I’ve been watching for the past three years. There’s not been many products I wished to purchase, however I’ve enjoyed every single video… a real tribute to the content maker.
There have been 0 products for me. I will probably never buy one. But I will click on every video
I agree.
As seen on TV is universally garbage. I've never seen an as seen on TV product that was any good or if it was, was any better than cheaper store alternatives. I do get a kick of watching them though.
I bought the granite pans because of James. And a few other kitchen things. The pans are great still had them over a year.
@@tarstarkusz There are some products that are pretty good, some even really good, and definitely a handful that fill a niche that just nothing else seems to fill.
They are definitely the the exception not the rule.
*Install was easy **fireplace.homes** good although I personally had some difficulty with the thermostat I had. Issue was mine though, not realizing that electric heaters couldn't use oil thermostats. Tip: If you are using an external thermostat, run the power to the thermostat, not the unit. Once that was squared away it worked great.*

Definitely improved with time but the old stuff wasn't as bad as you think. I mean, it got me watching back then! As creators we learn and we grow. Happy birthday and here's to many more years to come!

This makes me so nostalgic since I've been watching you since you reviewed the Purple Pillow. I remember liking your way of reviewing so much that I decided to binge-watch all of your previous reviews before that. Happy Five Years, James!
Last year I purchased a 1,500 watt Comfort Zone ceramic heater from Menards for around $10.00 on sale. It works great, and even at the current $13.00 price you could almost buy three of them for what the Handy Heater costs, and warm up three rooms, or turn one room into a Freakin' sauna.
Not a good idea. Unless your room has two circuits or more for the outlets you will be pulling a breaker or a fuse in your power panel. Most circuits for a bedroom for example can only provide a 20 amp breaker before it switches off. Your 1,500 watts is 12.5Amps. Take two 1500 watt heaters on the same circuit and you will be pulling the breaker because at 25 Amps you are overheating the house wiring made for 20 Amps and thus is an fire hazard(house wires will melt and make a short, aka a fire). Only exception to this is if the circuit was a 30 Amp breaker with the correct wiring. Now you could run one at max and the other at low on a 20 Amp circuit but at that point you are playing with fire without knowing the exact power they are drawing and other things you have on the same circuit(aka a lamp, computer, etc...)
If you don't know what your outlets can safely power then just use one per room or ask an electrician for help.
@@MrMega200 in europe (at least in my country France), you can connect up to 4500W for a single 20A. and we use 220v.

@@MrMega200 I'm pretty sure that the 3 heaters in 1 room part was just hyperbole. I do get the sense that you have an electrician-type background though - very thorough explanation of why you shouldn't put 4500 watts of a heating element on one circuit. 🤔

Also i got sinilar to handy heater an a lasko tower heater. Both give me headache from collecting dust. I pick up a open box fan with metal heater right behind the blades in a simple casing And actually put it on a pedastool blowing across the room window around 2-3 feet away since there drafty while i actually covered the side air intake of my pc with pink insulating Styrofoam since that circulates cold air the first 5 minutes in the winter
@@jeffreneeranallo3914 I actually have an IT background but I only know about some of this stuff because I have looked it up and watched some electronics youtubers such as Electroboom. A regular US household outlet is capped at 20A(2160 watts) at the breaker typically but the highest plug in heater we can get is 1500 watts. Like a regular bedroom outlet here is actually capped at 15 amps or 18 amps(depending on outlet installed) while the Kitchen has 20A outlets that have a different style of plug but still accepts the other plug. This is mind you is all at 120v. Not at the 240v you are used to.

I've always appreciated you reviewing these weirder or "as seen on TV" products as they usually get my attention in some way but some wary on spending money on them just to try them.

Congratulations on 5 years. I think your first video was actually very good, and my family has really enjoyed and benefitted from your videos, especially when Bailey makes an appearance. BTW, the only thing funnier than a guy testing a space heater in Vegas is that the guy in south Florida is watching it on this 85 degree / 90% humidity day in late October - I think the last time we turned our heat on was 2011.

Congratulations on your 5 years on the platform, James! I haven't bought any of the products you've tested over the years - not even your recommended purchases - but you allowed me and my wife to steer clear of some products that we were eyeing because you tested them and found them to be no good.
I just love your review style. You are like the polar opposite of another guy I watch - TylerTube. You read the instructions on even the simplest of items, he tosses them away like Tim the Tool Man Taylor, no matter how complicated or complex the product. You do normal tests, he does normal and torture tests. It's a great juxtaposition.

I’ve been watching you for years, I have bought exactly one item you’ve reviewed (Furwizard). Something about you bare bones editing is nice to me. You’re not in my face with all these flashy edits like most TH-camrs. Your reviews are always clear and straight to the point. We actually love the original handy heater when used in our bathroom. Heats it up quite quickly and small storage space.

I just started watching your videos now. And I can say that your commitment on reviewing is what stand out for me. I'm not from the US so these products don't actually are very common here. But it's really useful to have a standard to rate the knock offs

Technology Connections did a whole video on this - an ordinary space heater is good enough, the primary factor that will determine its heat output is the wattage.

Absolutely, it's just resistive heating plus a fan, no more no less. It's not a heat pump that has way more efficiency.
Testing the same room over and over again is also not the right way. A long time cold room takes heat into the walls. The next day you need less heat to keep more warmth for a longer time.
