Yoda and Obi-Wan played the same game Palpatine played. They waited. They planned. And when the time was right, they put the plan in motion. Luke Skywalker was that plan. As Palpatine once correctly told Yoda that he was blinded by arrogance, so Luke was correct when he told Palpatine his overconfidence was his weakness. Check mate Lord Sidious.
Nah, don’t put them on that level. Palpatine was an absolute genius. Weaseling his way to the top of the Republic right under the noses of the Jedi AND masterfully manipulating the other side. He literally CREATED Anakin. Yoda and Obi-Wan weren’t playing some genius waiting game. They were playing the ‘let’s wait and see what happens I guess’ game because they had no other options.

I remember that comic, I remember the ending where Yoda did laugh to himself, but also said something along the lines of, "Yes Commander, it was nothing of importance" which I find very interesting.
In the Expanded Universe, a dark Jedi did find Yoda, a little while before Luke came, and had a duel that lasted days, until Yoda killed the dark Jedi and buried him where the Darkside tree is.
Close, it happened many many years before the clone wars and that's why Yoda chose to live there, the darkside of the cave cloaked his presence in the force
@@ryanhatzenbeller4327 Actually, there Is a EU novel, before the Clone Wars was put into animated series, that recounted Yoda's fight with a dark Jedi on Dagobah. It was recounted by Cardas, who was fleeing from his enemies and crashed on Dagobah. He was found and nursed back to health by Yoda, but along the way, a dark Jedi found Yoda and had a dayslong battle until Yoda won. Afterwards, Yoda told Cardas that he has to leave, as someone important was soon to arrive on Dagobah to find Yoda.
@@ryanhatzenbeller4327 I remember that it was Luke who happened to find Jorj Cardas when he found the Aing Tii Monks, who taught Cardas some of their Force abilities.
As aggressive as Vader is, Yoda's power rivals that of Sidious. Even if Vader intercepted, he would be greatly damaged as his respirator is a weak point. Although there's a chance that Yoda could talk with him like the old days at the temple. Who knows, maybe he tries to have him break free of the dark side in the process.
Not true. Yoda could never beat sidious because sidious was stronger in the force then he was. The only way Yoda could put up a fight against him was with a lightsaber. In fact in "the book of the jedi" Yoda even said he knew he would lose when he fought sidious. That it was Yodas destiny to lose to the sith lord. So no Yoda was no where near close to sidious power in the force
I don’t think Yoda would have even attempted to turn Vader back to the light. I’m pretty sure Vader was beyond redemption in the eyes of all but Luke, even his own.
I'm pretty sure if Vader went down and saw Yoda, he'd say to the effect of "understandable, have a nice day". Hes strong, but even whole, he wasn't Yoda strong. And being mostly machine would make it hard to fight an Ataru user. More likely he'd either call palpatine, who'd reprimand him for endangering himself, or send in a death star.
Vader would definitely make an attempt on Yoda. Any perception of weakness on Yoda's part would be irresistible, as if a chance to kill the Grandmaster of the Order wasn't enough. It's a win-win for Vader. Either he kills Yoda, or he dies and fulfills his need for self-punishment.
I think Yoda was simply at an age of “A sh*t, I don’t give.” And was fine with the empire coming. Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember reading a book about yoda on degobah and that he could use his force powers to use the creatures on the planet to fight for him and conceal him.
I would have been more interested in the conversation between Lord Vader and Grand Master Yoda. Yoda probably would have said he seen this coming in young Anakin when he first met him in the concil chambers in Eps. 1. Vader probably would have said the Jedi let him down when his mother died. The conversation would have been interesting to hear.
"In you, darkness I saw, when to the Council Qui-Gon brought you. Small wonder to the Dark Side you turned." "The Jedi let me down! My mother died!" "A Jedi there on Tattooine at the time. Save your mother, could he not?" "I tried my best! I was only a padawan! I wasn't trained properly! I wasn't powerful enough!" "H'mm. Strong in the Dark Side you have become. Imposing black armour you have been given. Your natty red lightsabre like, I do. But still a whiney little brat you are. Off my world get, before your shiny black backside I soundly whup."
I truly hope in Kenobi season 2 we see Yoda and Kenobi team up one last time. I don't recall Yoda telling Kenobi in ROTS that he was going there. Although we could all assume he did. But this would help for sure show that Kenobi knew Yoda was there. Would it not be amazing to see Yoda, Kenobi, and Asoka teaming up, say against Thrawn and some inquisitors? I just want to see Yoda do something beyond amazing one last time. He is my favorite character.
Yoda never told Obi-Wan where he was until Obi-Wan died and became a force ghost. Honestly I kinda want Yoda to just stay where he’s at. Maybe some kind of rogue inquisitor hiding from the empire stumbles upon him and attacks
We are owed a Yoda story one way or another. Either an origins or what Yoda was doing the last few decades after ROTS. We never actually saw him go there except in a non cannon deleted scene.
"Forgotten" Sith Temple/Structure on Dagobah. That was the main thing hiding Yoda. All that Dark Side remnant counteracting Yoda's Light Side. Luke did the same thing. Both, for the most part, cut themselves off from the force. Evidence of Sith remnant on Dagobah? I believe it was in the novelization. Also, in TESB you can make out the straight lines of some inner corridor walls beneath the tree. This is why it made a suitable place to test. I am not discounting the reasons why Yoda chose Dagobah as presented in the video. Just thought I'd mention this additional reason. Just noticed someone commenting to this effect.

Yoda was extremely old by that point, but the terrain of Dagobah would have been Vaders downfall. Even with Yodas age, he would have used the force to enhance his movement just as he always did. As powerful as Vader is, not even Palpatine could beat yoda. He only won because yoda fell so far, and by then too many clones had shown up.
There is also a possibility that the Imperial admiral was secretly a Rebel/Jedi sympathizer, hence why he ordered for the discovery of Yoda to be erased.
Possible. But Palps telling the admirals to disregard telling Vader of possible Jedi sightings is the more likely reason. Palps was the best at covering for possibilities.
It makes complete sense to me that Palpatine would think nothing of Yoda and not want Vader to bother going after him. Which he absolutely would have. And Yoda would have stood a very good chance to use the environment, and Vader’s arrogance against him
Dagobah, though uninhabited, is teeming with all manner of life, the primary generator of the Force itself, I believe that he didn’t just go there to hide, but to strengthen both his connection and more importantly his understanding of the force as a whole, this is what allowed him to move past the old Jedi rules and principles.
Sidious asked Vader not to go in search of Yoda because good apprentices were in short supply and he knew that Vader would die at best and convert at worst. Yoda is not to be trifled with.
Lets be real, he was also scared that if he proactively went after Yoda he would have had to send his best men including Vader and they could have still failed to beat him which is why it was better to be content with letting Yoda suffer the mental damage of failing to save the republic
The more I watch this channel, the more I see Palpatine made so many mistakes. Palpatine should know from history there is always a struggle between light and dark and light would rise again.
I have my own theory. Sending Vader to Yoda would give Yoda the possibility of turning Vader, however small, back to the Light Side. Also like people are saying destroying Vader outright.
Nah. Vader became stronger than Yoda. Much stronger. Kenobi surpassed Vader at one point. But then Vader surpassed him again. To be frank, the only reason Palpatine stood a chance against Vader was A.) force lightning B.) having the power to use a force nuke by torturing Kyber crystals on Exagol.
Given that a lot of the Imperial Navy's top brass used to be Republic officers, it's possible that this particular admiral was secretly a pro-Jedi loyalist and intentionally erased / covered up the partial evidence of Yoda in order to protect him from the Sith.
Honestly I don't think the admiral showed any odd or out of placed behavior the commander who passed that video to him gave him the option to inform Vader by sending a team of non force sensitive stormtroopers onto dagobah with that planet's known inhospitality AND potentially a Jedi it'd of been a suicide mission just for the same issues that the probe droid had to prop up
Simple explanation. Fear. Vader created a climate of such fear in the officers around him, that they were more concerned about avoiding his anger and being executed than they were in keeping him fully informed. This is the price of ruling through fear. You don’t get the best out of people.
It can also be that the admiral may have secretly, inwardly harboured some respect for the Jedi and resentment against the Empire, and used some viable excuse to give whomever's down on Dagobah a chance of survival?
That admiral saved Vader's life by having that data destroyed. Yoda would have gotten a few credits by taking Vader's parts to the nearest Imperial Recycling plant.
A few credits scraping Vader... LMAO 😂🤣 oh the visual I saw while reading that.. Lol check out the short video on YT of "Obi Wan Roasting Anakin" it's pretty funny.
Yes or no. Would you love to see a short series of yoda set before the clone wars. Could make it about his story becoming grandmaster of the jedi order
That "Imperial officer" could have also been a very well-placed Rebel spy who infiltrated the Imperial ranks. As for Grandmaster Yoda, I believe that Lord Vader would have attempted to go down to the surface of Dagobah with a platoon of of stormtroopers to kill him...but I think that they would have been tricked and finished off by Grandmaster Yoda and Lord Vader would have met his end there.
Naw. Even the te rebel alliance didn't know about Yoda's whereabouts. Yoda, knowing the empire was everywhere, wouldn't let a soul know where he was. More than likely the admiral was under orders from Ol' Palps to hide any sightings of Jedi from Vader. He would probably only give those orders to the very highest officer under Vader's command. Just look at how many years it took Palps to get Vader focused on building the empire.
@@WealthTransferTC it sure did. Palps should have kept Vader close to him and allowed a squadron to be full time Jedi hunters, reporting to Vader if they found anything. Then allowed Vader to do what he wanted. But then again. If Palps knew where Yoda was, which he probably did but saw that now he was the one with everything to lose and decided that so long as Yoda stayed out of the way, then he wasn't worth the risk. Especially being that only he could handle Yoda. Vader would have ended up at the nearest Imperial Recycling plant. Yoda actually wasn't the problem. It was Kenobi. That's who they should have hunted relentlessly. Kenobi was actually the seed of the empire's destruction.
Palpatine must have guessed that Vader was weak when it came to the possibility of the Jedi capturing him or turning him back. Jedi could cut a person off from the force just like Revan.
There is a book pre Disney that suggested that there was a dead Sith in the Tree Yoda has Like enter. It is why it was strong in the Dark Side. The Dark Side energy of the Sith cancelled out Yoda's Light Side energy.
Palps, in his mind, didn't really care enough to find yoda, in fact, he liked knowing the jedi was still alive, as he was forced to live with his failures in a galaxy controlled by the sit. Palps loved the fact yoda had to humble himself before the sith and that he had his one shot to stop it - and failed. It was the ultimate victory for sideous. He knewYoda had already given his all in an effort to stop him and he didn;t have it in him.
Perhaps the Admiral was a secret admirer of the Jedi and Rebellion and decided to stay with the Empire as a secret ally that not even the rebellion itself knew about.
Knowing the fact that Yoda dueled Palpatine (likely the most powerful Sith Lord in history) to a stalemate, he would’ve decimated Vader. Vader wasn’t as powerful in the suit as he was on Mustafar, and he was slower too. While Vader in his prime would’ve likely defeated Yoda, the same can’t be said for Vader in ESB.

@@05goode Vader in his prime was on Mustafar. He would never be in his prime again in the suit. In the suit he was not as powerful in the Force, he was not as agile, and he was in constant torment from pain caused by the suit and constant nightmares. He would never have clarity of mind. The moments where we see a glimpse of what he was before the suit are the brief moments he calms himself and thinks with a clear mind, like the moments he calmed himself and dominated in Obi-Wan. But the sheer amount of pain the suit kept him in meant he just couldn’t do that very much.
There may be a continuity error in this comic. Yoda appears to lose his lightsaber in the senate rotunda after his duel with Sidious, unless he retrieved it off screen he would not have it on Dagobah. Personally, I like the idea of Yoda losing his lightsaber, thematically it works, a great warrior stripped of his weapon as he flees into exile. Plus, in spite of his arrogance I don't think Yoda is the type to risk his life for a possession while being hunted.

This was probably the will of the force reinforcing Yoda's faith in the future downfall of the empire, alleviating his fear and telling him the force still has a task he must preform.
Vader gets to search for his son, the crew stay in the realm of the living, and Yoda got express drone delivery for a free, new cooking set. Everyone wins
I think I support the idea that the Emperor might even have tild officers not to report such things; even Kenobi was finally dead, by this point, and Vader didn't need the distraction, but I also think, while it is almost guaranteed not to be the case, it could be neat if the admiral maybe had secret Rebellion sympathy. It might have been cool if he had plausible readonly to spun it the way he did, but actually did so because he hoped it would eventually aid in the downfall of the Empire. As for Vader, this colder, more calculating Sith Lord might've just had the crew bombard the planet from orbit, and deal with Yoda that way.
I seem to remember Vader's other Apprentice Star Killer in either a Star Wars Comic or short story had went to Dagbah for some reason I believe for some training as he went into the Cave that Luke had went into........any way he Met Yoda but didn't know who he was and just assumed he was Native to Dagobah. He never mentioned to Vader who he met.
One issue I have with this “what if” comic is Yoda’s light saber, he never recovered it with his fight against the Emperor. And when he drops down in Bale Organa’s speeder we don’t see his saber either. I don’t see Yoda building a new one as he would of had to leave his exile to find a force crystal to build another saber.
Would Vader during this time be able to defeat Yoda at this time as well? I mean Yoda during episode 3 I have no doubts could defeat Vader but Yoda is nearing the end of his life at this point and I don't think is as powerful in lightsaber combat as he was during the end of the clone wars. So I am curious if he could defeat Yoda?
Unlike Obi-Wan, Yoda never cut himself off from the Force. So while he may be out of practice in lightsaber combat during his hiding (if he even built a new one), his power in the Force likely hadn’t waned. He’d decimate Vader
Obi wan went super saiyan against Vader after cutting himself off from the force, Yoda never cut himself off and was living on what was just a giant force nexus. Yoda would crush anything that came at him.
Not to mention Dagobah is a swampy world with constant deep mist even if Vader were to land safely (ehem recall Luke crashlanding on the planet) Yoda could just hide in the native swamp and wait for the perfect moment to attack Vader. Also Vader is very slow and Sidious mentions that if Vader came unprepared against Yoda he would lose rather quickly
Honestly vader is powerful yes more than anakin but the thing is he is terribly slow compared to well experienced jedi knights . like ofc obi wan who was always in the front lines and went up against the likes of grevious could defeat vader it jus took him time to adjust but none the less he defeated him in due part to Vader’s own ego along wit jus pure enlightenment in the force while vader was jus focused on killing obi wan and ignoring the fact the obi wan can jus out smart anakin. So then compared to yoda? Well ya as someone else said yoda didn’t cut himself off from the force he did stop using his saber so no doubt he might be rusty but he would still be faster then vader much faster.

Smart move by Sidious keeping his mouth shut about that because what I thought is this by the time Empire Strikes Back came around Vader already knew he at least had a son the exact opposite of what Sidious told him and was done with the bullshit there was good in Vader and it was getting stronger because Luke was alive and was his son so if Vader ever did find out and went to Degobah Yoda would have turned Vader back to the light sooner than he did now imagine if that were to happen and he Vader and Luke against Sidious he would have gotten creamed not to mention aside from that Sidious had a little bit of respect for Yoda because he was strong and he knew if the Jedi had the balls to stand up to the republic when it was at its most crooked it would have been a totally different fight and they would have won Sidious knew this after all Obi-Wan did put Vader in that suit he calls a coffin robbing Sidious of his prize yea he had Vader but absolutely nowhere near his true potential as the chosen one Anakin Skywalker so yea Sidious allowed Yoda to retire to his death of out that respect that's what I think about that

Maybe Palatine suspected they could have found Yoda if they looked hard enough, but the Rebellion was looking for Jedi to help them. It makes sense that if the Empire didn't find the Jedi then the Jedi couldn't.

I do believe hole heartingley Vader would have pounced!!!
Another possibility not mentioned is that the admiral was a secret traitor. It's happened before, like that one Star Destroyer gunner who was from Alderan and kept destroying rebel ships Vader was trying to capture. Would it be so impossible this particular admiral was also a traitor doing what he could to protect the rebel alliance from within the empire?
He was probably testing their willingness to hunt him. The jedi were all but extinct at this point. If they came, the empire was still looking. If they didn't he could probably relax his guard and remain hidden.
1. Yoda would not used his light sabre to destroy a probe droid. He could've used the force to hit it with a large stone, used force lightning, dropped a tree on it or just crushed it. 2. Yoda would have destroyed Vader in under a minute. Both Ahsoka and Obi-Wan(twice, now) showed Vader was vulnerable
I think yoda would have won. Same as when Windu fought him, he won fair in square as George Lucas said.. but Palp was a pussy and had to hide in the shadows or he woulda gotta his ass raped by the Jedi.
Watch the fight again carefully .. Palps starts to intensify his lightning , yoda is absorbing it. Then Yoda kinda intensifies back .. Maybe even taps into a little anger (raises the eyebrow ) Look at palpatines face.. Its clearly he's overwhelmed a bit. But since Yoda is so small, he gets blown back and ends up falling off. He lost because ... Physics ?? Then again, in the novelization of episode III - it talks of their duel in a way that.. The light side just didn't have it. That it had remained stagnant for a millennia , and for a millennia the dark side had advanced .. In secret.
Could yoda have used the force to make the admiral dismiss the image that was shown to him to keep himself safe. After all he is supposed to be the most powerful, so someone with that power could/should possibly be able to do something like that to someone who doesn’t have his lvl of power
I seen a post back up a ways that said they had read that particular comic and at the end yoda was laughing and saying, yes admiral, it was nothing important at all. Maybe not exact words, but I'm sure you get it. That's what I think, it was just grandmaster yoda using the jedi mind trick.
But I'd like to know how yoda got a light saber on dagobah since he lost it in his duel with palpantine and palpantine reportedly recovered it or the clone troopers did.
He probably built a new one. Given the fact that there was stuff in his little hut, he probably had a bug-out bag or else made one on the fly when he returned to the temple
I don't want to see anymore Star Wars anything until Disney gets better people to helm the franchise. After the debacle of Kenobi, I'm sick of watching Disney ruining the star wars universe. I'd rather watch the fan made productions.
My honest opinion if vader did go down to face yoda palpatine might as well look for a new apprentice cause as old as yoda was the force was still strong with him and vader would've had no chance.....what got me though is when yoda used the force to lift the X-wing out of the swamp I'm amazed palpatine or vader didn't sense it 🤔.....i watched ROTJ last night and what baffled me was how yoda didn't recognise R2-D2
Yoda using his lightsaber to destroy the droid seems sloppy for someone so wise and so powerful in the force. Someone as powerful as Yoda I think he could've used the force to make the droid appear to malfunction or suffer from a random glitch. However, had he done that, we wouldn't have this cool story lol.

Close, it happened many many years before the clone wars and that's why Yoda chose to live there, the darkside of the cave cloaked his presence in the force

Nope. Sidious was stronger in the Force than Yoda.
Sidious is slightly stronger during ROS but after that he basically left yoda in the dust. They were never really rivals.
Nah. Vader would look at Yoda and would be like You’re not worth it. You broken old man and leave
Which book do u know, i would like to check it out, that sounds interesting
I would have been more interested in the conversation between Lord Vader and Grand Master Yoda. Yoda probably would have said he seen this coming in young Anakin when he first met him in the concil chambers in Eps. 1. Vader probably would have said the Jedi let him down when his mother died. The conversation would have been interesting to hear.
"In you, darkness I saw, when to the Council Qui-Gon brought you. Small wonder to the Dark Side you turned."
"The Jedi let me down! My mother died!"
"A Jedi there on Tattooine at the time. Save your mother, could he not?"
"I tried my best! I was only a padawan! I wasn't trained properly! I wasn't powerful enough!"
"H'mm.

Good enough for you, it was not, the Jedi library to burn down? The only good thing that was in that travesty of an eighth episode, indeed.
The funny thing is that people think that Yoda chose Dagobah by accident or opportunity. He knew what he was doing.

That's the thing with Palpatine: The older he gets the stupider he gets, John.
My thoughts as well.
Agent Kallus
And another possibility that he suspected indeed the obvious identity of who it is and did not want to challenge the grand master to a fight
It makes complete sense to me that Palpatine would think nothing of Yoda and not want Vader to bother going after him. Which he absolutely would have. And Yoda would have stood a very good chance to use the environment, and Vader’s arrogance against him

Sidious asked Vader not to go in search of Yoda because good apprentices were in short supply and he knew that Vader would die at best and convert at worst. Yoda is not to be trifled with.
Vader is not stupid. He would watch, verify Yoda's location one more time and then nuke the planet.
Lets be real, he was also scared that if he proactively went after Yoda he would have had to send his best men including Vader and they could have still failed to beat him which is why it was better to be content with letting Yoda suffer the mental damage of failing to save the republic
It sounds like the admiral was worried it would offend Vader to say he missed a Jedi after all this time.
Could be, Vader was known for killing officers for less than that.
My guess is Yoda did a mind trick on the admiral, to forget what he saw!
The more I watch this channel, the more I see Palpatine made so many mistakes. Palpatine should know from history there is always a struggle between light and dark and light would rise again.
Palpatine was like "That us where Yoda is? Guess I am marking that as a no fly zone."
To be frank, the only reason Palpatine stood a chance against Vader was

B.) having the power to use a force nuke by torturing Kyber crystals on Exagol.

Given that a lot of the Imperial Navy's top brass used to be Republic officers, it's possible that this particular admiral was secretly a pro-Jedi loyalist and intentionally erased / covered up the partial evidence of Yoda in order to protect him from the Sith.
That would’ve been the end of Vader forsure, even in his old age Yoda was a total master of the force and lightsaber combat.
Vader knew his limits, he would have lost to Yoda I believe...
Really really cool story I’ve never heard of this happening
Honestly I don't think the admiral showed any odd or out of placed behavior the commander who passed that video to him gave him the option to inform Vader by sending a team of non force sensitive stormtroopers onto dagobah with that planet's known inhospitality AND potentially a Jedi it'd of been a suicide mission just for the same issues that the probe droid had to prop up
Where yoda was hiding was rich with the dark side of the force if I remember which cloaked yoda, just as the other life forms helped hide him as well.
Whoever this official was he saved Vader's life
Simple explanation.
He's a hero
That admiral saved Vader's life by having that data destroyed.
Yoda would have gotten a few credits by taking Vader's parts to the nearest Imperial Recycling plant.

Very good explanation
@@greezythumb makes even more sense but it also hurt the Empire in the long run.
@@greezythumb good call.

Yoda would have been found, but the Force needed Vader alive ;)
Palps, in his mind, didn't really care enough to find yoda, in fact, he liked knowing the jedi was still alive, as he was forced to live with his failures in a galaxy controlled by the sit. Palps loved the fact yoda had to humble himself before the sith and that he had his one shot to stop it - and failed.
It was the ultimate victory for sideous. He knewYoda had already given his all in an effort to stop him and he didn;t have it in him.
It certainly explains how Luke got Yoda's light saber to offer Groku
Perhaps the Admiral was a secret admirer of the Jedi and Rebellion and decided to stay with the Empire as a secret ally that not even the rebellion itself knew about.
I'm beginning to understand why the Empire is afraid to go to that planet
Knowing the fact that Yoda dueled Palpatine (likely the most powerful Sith Lord in history) to a stalemate, he would’ve decimated Vader. Vader wasn’t as powerful in the suit as he was on Mustafar, and he was slower too. While Vader in his prime would’ve likely defeated Yoda, the same can’t be said for Vader in ESB.

Sounds to me more like Yoda did a little bit of a mind trick on the admiral…hence the chuckle at the end.

Vader is a Juggernaut and a glasses character all in one ☺️
One issue I have with this “what if” comic is Yoda’s light saber, he never recovered it with his fight against the Emperor. And when he drops down in Bale Organa’s speeder we don’t see his saber either. I don’t see Yoda building a new one as he would of had to leave his exile to find a force crystal to build another saber.
I didnt have time to watch the video but from the tiltle i assume yoda offered palpatine coffee and empire was pretty chill
Star Wars Yoda show would go crazy
Yoda would crush anything that came at him.
force crush on Vader, Vader done

No way Vader would confront Yoda by himself.
I wonder if yoda could beat sidious on a second try. That'd be sick.
Maybe even taps into a little anger (raises the eyebrow )
Look at palpatines face..

I was under the impression that Yoda never used his saber again after the lost fight with the Emperor.
Palpatine knew that Yoda was complete and total failure.
The Emperor wanted Yoda to suffer from those failures , Yoda was no threat to him .
