As a former karate practitioner of many years, i would like to contribute.
I think that some people on this forum are confusing a method of training (which was developed a long time ago) with a modern day street fight. Training such as this develops both physical and mental toughness, both of which are factors in urban combat.
Some people enjoy the traditional martial arts because they are beautiful as many 'old' things are.
It is true that modern training methods are more realistic and efficient, but that does not render this ancient art useless.
Remember that regardless of the art that you practice, there will always be better, and lesser fighters than your self.
The real goal should be self improvement. Training hard in any art (ancient or modern) will not necessarily make you better than the next man, but i guarantee it WILL make you better than you were.

Spoken like a good instructor. I love doing pattern work and it improves core strength and flexibility. Basic fundamental that can help with sparring. So many great fighters come from a martial arts background and don't just jump into full contact

Regardless of what people say about this video, I can tell you this much. Since I’ve been studying martial arts regularly since 1982, I can attest that this system. Uechi Ryu is a very straight up, direct way of dealing with a physical attack. Their forms, sparring, and self-defense applications, all match up consistently, unlike other styles, of Karate the forms, sparring, and self-defense all look different and confusing. Uechi Ryu does not have that problem.

The only sad thing I can see about this is how many so-called martial artists are being negative, as opposed to complimentary at having access to something for free that may actually help them.
Some of you actually sound jealous and stupid. Show some respect for people who are offering you knowledge “on the house.”

Where did this take place? Very interesting that there were aikidoists present as well.
    Excellent conditioning training.
I enjoyed how the sensei demonstrated deflecting kicks with the forearm indicating this can be done AFTER you’ve put in the time with conditioning the forearm. He makes it look easy. Some people kick like a mule so one’s conditioning and timing better be on point.

I only came to watch because TH-cam put this in my "Recommended" list.
I have been in Martial Arts since the age of 10 and I just turned 70.
I now only train for my health and old age maladies. My last fight was less than a year ago :)
You call your channel "ultimate martial arts" (not putting you down) but remember there is only ultimate fighters.
Kinjo Masakazu has trained in hard techniques and is very accomplished. I, too, know what a body must go through.
He was trying to pass along this knowledge to black belt students who look like white belts. They were confused.
Most were embarrassing to watch with a few notable exception.
The notable exceptions had promise in these hard techniques if they persevere and not quit along the way.
My path was like a blind man compared to what is known and exists today.
My final comment is there is more out there than just the techniques of a few styles or systems to be an ultimate fighter.

    • @jm7578
      @jm7578 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, this style of Karate Uechi Ryu, it’s very effective in the street fight I’ve seen people who’ve practiced it and used it inspiring and in fight scenarios and they did a great job

I like how they train to toughen up the arm and legs but them got damn moves known damn well 90% of the time doesn't work in real fight. sparring is the best way to learn.

Another know it all armchair expert...They are learning different aspects of Karate and a good teacher won't let you spar until you learn at least the basics. Some moves taught work well in no contact Karate others are for full contact and others for the the street including pulling your fucking ear off if need be which does work in a real fight. Without the basics you try sparring you'll get kicked from one end of the dojo to the next by someone who knows both street fighting and karate no matter how tough you think you are. Master Masakazu is highly respected by just about everyone involved in MA and you should show the same respect and keep your stupid uneducated comments to yourself

If they didn't work, they wouldn't exist. You don't "learn" moves from sparring (usually), you use sparring to learn to APPLY your moves. Uechi has sparring, BTW, so I don't know where you get your mistaken notion.

Also, if you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that what is being shown here is a conditioning drill to develop strength and proper body dynamics, not techniques.

I've been training Karate for over 30 years now, and I threw away sparring 25 years ago. If you think this won't work, you haven't gotten the correct training. The guys I train with are serious martial artists, and you wouldn't want to mess with them. Most of this seminar is just showing conditioning, not bunkai or kumite. I guarantee all the sparring in world won't help you when you get hit by a proficient classical karate practitioner that's been hitting a makiwara most of his life.
