330inch tv screen. Only when you are using xbeam, when you can change size and how close screen can be moved. Normally, users says they use like a 40-inch screen.
Things to know before buying. 1/ The arms are adjustable, with a little tweaking you will get a good view. 2/ They are NOT a PC or a VR headset. 3/ They are NOT Augmented. 4/ The beam can store files but the screen is fixed as a medium monitor in front of you, not resizable. 5/ Not all phones play nice with the Xreal Air 2. 6/ Xreal community are helpful. 7/ You can play console games (PS 4/5, Xbox etc etc) but you will need a good HDMI to USB C cable. 8/ There is no number 8. 9/ If you do not want to use your prescription glasses and buy the reglazed inserts supplied, shop around. It is a premium product that attracts premium accessory prices. 10/ Have a wonderful holiday season wherever you are.
11. Blurry edges
@@kompanetspro2116 I had that issue, but played with the nose pads and the glasses arms and got a perfectly clear image.
But I suppose it will vary from person to person. I've heard that the most important factor is eye spacing.
@@WakeMtz thanks for the reply. Do you know your IPD?
If you are using them just as a screen do you need glasses or the prescription inserts, provided you are not trying to see distance in the real world. In other words does will the image look blurry or just the outside world if I can normally see up close fine but need glasses for distance.
@@ScottHAdkins Yes you do, I was at the same situation and had to use the prescription inserts to see the picture clearly even thought I can see up close perfectly.
You forgot the BEST reason to get one if you like drones, if you’re a videographer or a travel vlogger etc or just a hobbyist. You can get a first person view and a VR type experience BUT still legally fly by yourself since you can make it semi transparent. With a VR headset for fpv drones or fpv experiences you need someone else watching your drone bc legally you need someone physically watching it the entire time.
I totally want these but we should stop parroting the marketing; they're just Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), not Augmented Reality (AR). There's no camera interpreting the world in front of you and "augmenting" it with digital modifications. It's just a reflected "floating" monitor. And that's still great for all the reasons covered here.
Also the "330 inches" claim is kind of ridiculous because that's as if you were 6 meters (~18 feet!) away. From what I've heard it's more like a 24" monitor from 2 feet away. It's just basic angle math but of course the marketing tries to impress with big numbers.
Yeah they should just give the degree which the display covers like with VR headsets
The size isn't ridiculous. I have the first pair and comparing it with my 75in samsung tv, it's definitely bigger. I recommend trying them if you get the chance.
@@ldleonar I'm not saying anything against the perceived display size, just the marketing claim. A 75 inch TV is quite big so if this appears even larger from a comfortable distance (probably
It's whatever side you perceive it to be. the one thing that's constant is that it takes up the fixed amount of your FOV.
when wearing the glasses if I put my switch in front of my face the virtual screen appears to be a 7" screen 12 inches from my face.
Most people would not appreciate that marketing. LOL
But the xReal air it's like having a 7" screen a foot in front of your face.!
@@TrevorJones1 That's a good comparison. Holding my Steam Deck 12" from my face would get tiring really fast!
I think these would work best with the Lenovo since the second usb4 port means you can charge the device and use the glasses at the same time
thanks for the video..... what is with the ipd (exe-distance)? Some people have an eye-distance os 64mm, other of 71mm?
Great review! When wanting to stay attatched to my rog ally wall charger and wantibg to use the glasses for gaming, how do i go ahout that part?
Could we get some input on how well these would work with a windows laptop/desktop? I'm using windows 11 on my devices and I see that I have thunderbolt ports that would work all the same even without the beam device. Thank you!
Excellent review👍 Might I ask what the digital screen with the changing animations is behind you? Thanks.
Check my gear list in the description
would the mode where you can put the screen in the bottom corner be good for driving or walking with a map on the screen?
Will headphones still work plugged into my Legion Go? The Go will recognise that the screen isnt on so surely it wont have no sound?
Could you say somthing about door-effect ? Were you able to see the pixels ?
Thanks for the informative review! I was wondering what game you were playing at 3:30. Looks like something I'd like to add to my library 😂
It's called Whisker Squadron Survivor.
Thanks for the review! Regarding the beam, is it a must have when using the glasses on trains or car ride with the smooth head follow or would I be fine using the glasses only?
For more bumpy environments I think you would be better off with the beam
I have a pair of the Viture XR glasses, and I agree. They are a game changer. I only play my Switch with them. Not sure if I'll use them 100% of the time with the OLED, but they definitely have a use case. I love being able to lay on the couch or in bed with them. My wife can't hear the audio at all when I have the volume on the lowest or second to lowest setting, while it is perfectly audible for me. I wouldn't necessarily take them out in public outside of an airport or train, but they're absolutely a premium, amazing piece of tech. Very excited to see this technology evolve over the next few years.
How are the vitures? Are they better than the air 2 pro?
@@FantasyFinally I'm not sure how they stack up against the Air Pro 2s, but the Viture ecosystem fits my use cases. I mainly use mine to play my Switch, and plan to use it to play games on my Steam Deck when that arrives. Some people say the Viture's screen is blurry on the edges, but I haven't experienced that with the size nosepad I use with them. I've been happy with my purchase. It lets me have a TV experience in a portable form factor. I think the biggest pro is being able to lay down on the couch or in bed while gaming without the neck strain or holding your device above my head. No sore neck or tired arms 🙌
@@FantasyFinally I find viture glasses more fun to use than xreals. Mainly because of the neckband add on.
Hopefully that soft to the touch material isn't the same material that years down the road turns to a sticky mess. Feels great in the beginning and then you put it away for a while and pull it out and its so tacky its no longer usable. Like someone put rubber cement on it.
Man I hate when that happens. Had some great devices ruined by this!
You can try use isoprophyl alcohol to clean the sticky mess. It should return you with the plastic below it.
Hey Bill, can you do 40fps/120hz with these glasses on the Steam Deck? Kinda like how you can do 30fps/90hz on the OLED with frame-tripling.
Solid video Nerdy might get these , I wonder if your lying down is the correct angle displayed basically meaning the screen is towards celing.
The screen is in front of your face no matter what position you choose. Unless you chose one of the screen positions mentioned in the video.
@@slicedpage good work
Ohhhh! So glad you made a video about these!!!
Do the blurry edges not bother you?
Do you know what the power draw is on the xreal glasses? I'm wondering what kind of capacity and wattage power bank you'd need to use these on the go with the Steam Deck; and how much usage time that sort of setup may go to. Thanks for posting the video!
I have checked this. For Xreal Air, it's about 0.5A at 5V or 2.5W.
@@nicolacasali8304 I checked my Air 2 pro with an integrated display thunderbolt cable and got only 1W of power draw.
did it gave you motion sickness at any point of using them?
Tell me, does it have PWM? I have very sensitive eyes and cannot use screens without ips
Thank you for a good review!
I may have missed it but could you tell us how long the bartery time for the glasses is? Also, being a movie collector, wondering how they work if I connect them to a home theatre system through a Atmos receiver via HDMI? Replacing a tv or projector. 😎
Cheers!
They don’t have a battery. Projector stuff I don’t know.
These are awesome, first and foremost.
They are a huge step in a direction I think we all want to see. We all want smaller, more portable display screens on the move. The portability and not looking like you have a daft punk helmet on your head in public is awesome and much more attractive for entry level users.
With that said...
Besides the size, why would we even consider this if you can get the Quest 3 for slightly more? I think its a legitimate question to ask yourself if you are not a "early adopter" . You can do everything this can (with the beam as well) and play games, spatial computing, full vr, etc..
Again, I think its a great product, but if they can bring the price down to 249.99, I think they would have a real hit of a product on their hands.
Great review Nerd Nest!
Do this model or other models feature any type of prescription lens swap? Or setting to adjust to poor eyes? Thx
They sell prescription inserts from XREAL, on the website maybe on amazon idk
Love that you’re playing TF
Hi can you use these if you are visually impaired half blind
I wish I purchased the Air 2 instead of the Air 2 pro. On a sunny day outside it doesn't block enough light. I find myself always using the black out cover anyway.
Will they work with the ps vita? Ty
Loved this product. Just wished the micro oled screens are bigger so it can cover more angles!
Switch to a wider nose piece and push them down a bit, it helped a lot.
Thank you very much, I would like to order for my Steam Deck Oled😉✊
I bought a pair of similar glasses and I'm shocked at how good they work. I showed my father and he was unimpressed though and I couldn't figure out why until I realized his IPD is relatively narrow so he probably can't even see the screens properly. These things need IPD adjustment, or at least availability of different IPD range models. And they should all have built-in myopia correction like Rokid Air offers.
I just bought mine. Can't wait to get them.
Without the dimming feature, is the screen is still very visible in a well lit room? Not sure on spending the extra 50 for that
You can barely make out what's going on directly behind the screen when the dimming is turned off and brightness of screen is 100%. You can dim the brightness all the way to 0% and use like a regular pair of glasses.
Side view seems like it would be great for walking directions around a city when connected to your phone!
Air play needs WiFi
It's kind of a bummer that you need the extra device for side view. It seems like a feature you could add with the app or something
How are these versus the Viture
Hey, great review man!
What is the name of that flying game you were playing?
Whisker Squadron
i own the older version of those glasses the "nReal Airs" which is v1.0. Before they renamed the business to xReal. I don't think my glasses has dimming, but the oled brightness has dimming. One problem i have with most AR headgear is that they aren't helpful to people who require glasses. Not everyone is going to fork over hundreds to get prescription lenses for every separate AR or VR headset.
Thinking about getting the air2 ultra but it is not available in canada yet.. the problem is that i use iPhone and pretty much my ecosystem is apple.. but at $5000 cad the vision pro is put of reach for my finance. Even if apple decide to make a cheaper Vision i doubt its going to be cheap. Maybe $2499 usd. which is $3500 cad. still out of reach for my finance.. So xreal glasses is probably the best bet eventhough it is not a stand alone device like the meta quest 3.. but once plugged to your iphone it become almost like a stand alone.. now im still waiting for a better demo .. like how you use the xreal with the iphone.. how you control the menu, would it be possible to navigate through your iphone or ipad without even touching the screen. To type using some virtual keyboard. Also since you plug it to your phone , im guessing it’s going to drain your phone quickly.. because i spend many hours on the ipad. I hope the xreal will be 100% compatible with every ipad. Because i dont want to apple to make xreal user’s life difficult. What if apple decide to make it hard for xreal users to use their xreal glasses on apple devices so they can sell their Vision or Apple glasses.. like I said, apple vision is a much better option if you are on apple. Apple vision pro can pop a screen by just looking at any small handheld screen.. you dont even have to install any apps to mirror anything.. its pure magic. So i would like to see a video that show what you can do with the xreal connected to the iphone.. all the apps you can use with thr xreal .. basically all the stuff other than just playing games.. i don’t have a pc , steam deck or a switch (nintendo about to release a new nintendo soon 2024-25 anyway). I also would like to see how the xreal is when you are driving or walking and you receive a phone call or a sms. Since the glasses doesnt have built in battery.. is there a solution for not draining the phone battery
When they add gyros and the ability to have a vr style theatre room for watching movies, I'm all in. I really don't love the feeling of a fixed screen in vr. But I guess if that was possible oculus would already have made it.
These are on my must have list, just waiting for the work bonus fairy to give me the nod to get these. I know all these reviews are going to struggle massivley to get across how good the experience actually is. Really interested in the productivity element I could always do with more screens.
As you know, these are not cheap and with respect, you may want to consider reading between the lines of this and many other videos on the subject before you spend your hard-earned cash. I am guilty as the next person for being beguiled by new tech. Buyer's remorse hurts.
how to connect it to iphone 14 pro?
how to play 3d sbs movies on it ?
do we get dizzy after using them?
how to connect to windows pc ? (which cable support it)
which devices are compatible with xreal ar ?
You will need a lightning to USB C adapter. I used these for hours on end and you do not experience dizziness like full VR headsets. You can still see your surroundings which doesn't confuse your brains spatial awareness. Anything with a mini HDMI / USB C will "usually" work.
How’s it work for pc or can it?
The Body Anchor mode is much improved now. It is my preferred viewing option when anchored to a phone or gaming device.
Is it possible to anchor the screen while using the steam deck or any other gaming device? I’ve been slightly confused if this is a feature limited to the apps on beam itself
@@ifherbowasntg548 any input to the XR Beam can be anchored, smooth followed, side viewed and resized.
@@TheSilverAfro so once you get the beam, you can connect your steam deck directly to it and begin controlling the screen from the beam?
@@ifherbowasntg548 correct
Looks awesome but price is a bit steep for me.
Are the pixels noticeable. Is it easily seen the small space between pixels making a grid type view. ?? -Thanks
nope
No. It's the most crystal clear screen I've seen in a headset with zero gap visible between pixels.
What game was that with the spaceship at 3:28
Whisker Squadron
shouldnt you be able to split the lens screens?
like have one image displayed in the left lens
and a different image in the right lens
and bam
stereoscopic 3d
and 3ds emulation
I actually did this. There’s a video on my channel.
Just to be clear: when I use the Xreal Air2 as a display, the screen of the Steam Deck is turned off automatically? Thanks for this awesome video btw.
Yes.
@@NerdNest Thanks!! 😍👌
Can you get 40 hz on them ???
Hello the community. Someone know what is the name of the game in this video at 3 min 29 sec ? Thanks a lot
3 months later, are you still using it?
This is easily the best review I’ve seen for these. I’ve just ordered a pair and I can’t wait for them to arrive.
Hello. Great test. What is the game you play on this video at 3 min 29 sec ? Thanks a lot
Would love to see someone show em with the glasses insert. Have yet to see a review for people with glasses.
The prescription lens inserts they offer online are pretty pricy but after working with XREAL at this year's CES I had plenty of attendees where these directly over their lower-profile reading style glasses.
@@Cdub0619 If you dont need glasses for up close, but only for distance would you need them with this?
Is it possible to turn off the speakers and use bluetooth sound instead?
Yes
I wear glasses how do I get round this.
Is the screen bigger with steam deck vs Xreal air 1?
the same but more blurry
Can you pair two together to watch a movie with a Spouse or friend etc
I just bought a pair and I wonder how can you wash them? I am used to wash my shades every week in a thin lukewarm kitchen detergent. But I can not imagine how to keep these clean... Wiping cloth just wipes the dirt around...
A clean dry lint free cloth.
@@NerdNestYes but thats not enough. It will only smudge the dirt and oil around the glass.
Would buy them but as i cant use them with deck while charging it is simply a no go.
Theres a $40 device on their website that allows you charge at the same time… its called the XReal hub.
Can anybody advise me whether the Viture are better than these air 2’s?
I can say the Vitures are better than the first Air (with the exception of the USB-c port) However I don't own the Air 2 yet.
I wish could try them out first.
What happen if you move your head? The screen moves too or it keeps on the same place?
Depends. If you use the beam you can lock it in place.
@@NerdNest Nice! Thank you so much! I'll buy one for sure!
Would this work worth the PS Portal out the box ? Anybody test this yet with it.
Saw on another video that as long as you got the right ports you should be good
Good evening, can I watch 3D movies like in the cinema with the Xreal Air Pro 2???
Yes. I have done that with Xreal Air with a laptop. First long press + button to put it into 3840x1080P mode. Then play a full SBS 3D video.
How does it work with VR games on your steamdeck?
I've got some of them awsome they are to
"There's no reflections at all when you're looking through these glasses."
That's not true. I often see reflection of my feet.
I love AR glasses but they if you ain't gonna use them all the time. A waste of cash. Lots sell them cos they're expensive and don't get used much. I'll be honest, I don't use mine all that much either. Sometimes in your head you're like omg I could use it on this and that. In reality it will stay in the box 90% time. £400 to me not expensive for a screen. Got a portable worth 3x that lol. 4k oled, hdr. Serous over kill lol. Does look really nice vs my normal portables.
Why not make it DOCkABLE with the switch. . .?!
I have to wear prescription glasses and does it mean that I wear them under these or there are some options for me?
There are prescription inserts you can buy from xreal for the glasses
Depends if your glasses are for near or far vision. If you only need glasses to see far then obviously you wouldn't have a problem seeing a screen up close.
Would love to use it on my Steam Deck, but it doesn't seem they've provided a simple solution for devices with only one USB-C port where it would allow for charging while using the glasses
Any one try it to have 3 monitors displaying?
Quick question so if you I bad vision and wear glasses, this thing is not for me?
It comes with inserts that you can take to an optometrist
Would it work for a person wearing prescription glasses though?
You can get prescription inserts.
yes it can be used with prescription glasses. I did, but now I have the lenses which are a marked improvement. However, shop around for them.
@@slicedpage If you only need glasses for distance but not reading would you need them?
Problem is they cost as much as Meta Quest 3. So would you rather go VR or just 2D glasses…
The covers can work good for protecting the lenses so I wouldn’t discard them completely.
You’re not wrong, but it comes with a case so …
the covers do not protect the lenses they prevent light from distracting your eyes from the viewing screen.
@@slicedpage I’m aware of what their purpose is, I just gave that as a suggestion which was already answered with just using the case.
Don’t agree, i have the Rokid and while they are great for watching movies and shows, i think gaming is still better on the device display, especially in the new Steam Deck Oled, cause the display virtual display of these glasses seems big, but you look at it from distance, while i like to play games pretty close to the display, also the virtual display follow your face when you move, another things i don’t like that much in games
Didn’t he point out that the beam allows it to stay in place?
This must be this guys first newest iPhone purchase lol. He always mentioning his new iPhone n his vids lol
I mentioned it on this video because it’s USB-C
Would be nice if it was significantly lighter . Nice review, but don't think its worth upgrading from original air . the original screen is already bright, the resolution is same, the 120 hz I heard drains more battery, I often use in home mostly so dont need cover that often. But then again I already also have the viture too ow would be tempted.
after new update it now hits 385" screen
Camera with zoom is missing
Damn, we are Twins!
These glasses are cool but in reality these are not meant for long periods of play, you will get nauseous and dizzy.
I wonder how bad the eye strain is with screens right in front of your eyeballs.
it depends on the brightness and if you have astigmatism you were unaware of. Usually, no.
The Avegant Glyph headset originally cost $700 and beamed the image directly into your eyeball. I waited till the company went out of business and got a pair for $120. Small picture and headaches if I'm honest. I got got dust in the right lens and can't fix it now. Anyway these glasses reflect the image on to a screen and its all much more safe. A similar brand of glasses, RayNeo Air 2, got two international eye safety test passes.
The focal distance is apparently around 4 meters (13 ft), so in theory, switching back-and-forth between these and a regular monitor might improve your eye health, vs. just staring at a monitor on your desk all day. But I haven't actually tried them, just sharing what I've read.
There is a pair of glasses that have the same shadey thing.
good review coconut 🥥
I really wanna like these, but there are soooo many mixed reviews.
The beam imo is bullshit. That feature should be included by just using an app. Why is an external box necessary? Just have it pair with bluetooth to your iPhone and that should be enough using an app.
You think this is cool, switch the glasses into SBS 3D mode and run a windows game on the ally with Reshade Superdepth 3d on.
What does that do
@@TheDevilK It runs the game in stereo 3d and looks amazing.
3:10 lol
Fun fact: Majority of the people arguing in this comment section do not own them!
At max volume cup both your hands over your ears....🤯
The VITURE glasses are by far the best on the market. There’s not much new here with the newer version of the XREAL. The improvements are minor and not worth the fanfare to be honest.
I have a friend who has a pair and I completely agree they're better than the first Xreal Air I own. The only two things Xreal have over the VITURE is the Xreal have a far better USB cable set up. (Not proprietary) and better shipping times. (I'm *not* waiting a month for the Viture glasses to get here.)
@@AntonioCunninghamyou no longer have to wait for the VITURE. They are on Amazon Prime now 🙌🏼
@@pixeldeckgaming *Good!* I ordered their Type C splitter so I can charge my Steam deck while using my Xreal Glasses, but that took *three weeks* . That killed any desire to switch from Xreal.
The only issue I have with Xreal is how their clear plastic on the inside is so distracting when using the glasses outside of the blackout cover.
Virtue and Rokid have a superior internal lens.
The audio thing still sounds obnoxious. Whether I can understand what they're listening to is irrelevant, just being able to hear it at all is obnoxious. If you need to hear the outside world, please wear some earbuds with a transparency mode.
330" 🤯
i think i'll continue to wait on some glasses and see where this tech really goes. i still think it's a bit too early to spend $200 on it.
I have the original NReal glasses and it is absolutely worth it. I was skeptical at first but it is actually wild how well it works.
Owned the Xreal airs & viture glass and there not 120" screen its more like 27" monitor screen about 1 feet away, Why don't they just tell the truth as there good enough at 27" only 1 feet away
I agree, too often promotions are disguised as reviews. So the truth gets a back seat most of the time.
3:00 "M rated game.... Pause.... Yeah like doom"
Hahah sure, Doom. what is Doomguy doing in your special games hahaha
