I’m addicted to this show. Last year I connected with my long lost daughter from Lancashire, England, UK( now in Northern Ireland) She has 2 kids and that makes me a grandpa. It changed my life for evermore, in a great way...

Jamie I am so happy for you...I had a brother reach our to me after my mother had passed away because he was given up for adoption and it was the best excitement ever...I had know we had a brother but wasnt sure how to find him...But I'm so happy he reached out to me...He found me in 1997 after our mom had passed away but he was able to meet our dad and be in each other's lives until our dad passed too like 7 years later...But I'm glad he had that time with him...💗

Some women steal the kids from the dad. My dad's ex was all fine and good until my brother was born looking identical to my dad's youngest with the ex. The problem was her other son who clearly wasn't my dad's kid looked nothing like them. Instead of admitting she cheated and passed of another man's kid, she just took them and dissapeared. I found them 30 years later. They still don't know one isn't really a brother.

A coincidence I share with the young woman who was looking for her father....the otherside of the world....when trying t find my biological father... all I get is 'hits' about a well known singer....n can't get any further! I'm in my 60's now...n time running out.

I'm so fascinated about the different reactions of all those human beeings who are finally united by one and the same intention to find someone beloved.
Each time it's overwhelming me and my tears are running down and in the mean time I feel so beeing alive, because this is what it takes , to have emotions.
Today I was too much impressed by this spiritual gentleman who grew up in New Zealand and looked for his relatives from Ireland.
It touched me deeply inside , how he visited them in the graveyard with so much respect and inner relationship towards them and which kind of ceremony he did standing at their graves.
Today I learned a lot about maorian culture , my respect 🙏🏽❣

I too have Irish in my not too distant family tree. My grandfather emigrated from Ireland in the early 1910s. I remember him as a young kid with wire rim spectacles and sitting in his lap. He worked in the shipyards his whole life. When he died I clearly remember being upset because he was the first close relative to pass and I was old enough to grasp the concept of death.

I am glad David found his sister's and I hope this will bring them close again. I found that story the most fascinating because of my own family fracturing as I look back at family photos of us before we fractured we always lined up in family photos in the same way we fractured. Twice when the sisters lined up the one stood a little apart from the other 3. The strange thing is as I look at my family photos we didn't stand in one group pitted against the other. 2 of us stood a little separated from the others because we felt excluded. When the fracturing happened we were the 2 left out.

My mom hid the fact she had knowledge of my father. I am now 28 and apparently its too late. All those nights as a child I cried myself to sleep wondering where was my father. My tribe? My people? Today I find out his name, story, and I just believe I will reach out to connect with my relatives on his side. I am just not sure if I want to redig those emotions. I am afraid of rejection. What if he or they dont want to connect? I am over 6000km away. Will they like me? I dont know how to feel about this. Is my mom right to hide this? She said my biological father wasn't interested to know. Could she have lied? Did he change his mind? Did he ever wonder about me? I feel so lost.

Oh I feel for you but it's not too late to try and reconnect with your father. Hope he will be happy to meet you all the best.

I didn't get that feeling at all.
He never even saw his 2nd daughter until she was 6 or 8 or something.
If he was still into his ex, he would have SURELY kept in touch better.

Idk, very unimpressed with these fathers who chose to lose touch with their children.
James Brown asking his daughter "how long did you look for me?" ....actually I would love to know IF he even made any effort at all to look for HER! You know, between having 8 other kids and all.
He has at least 1 child older than her. They never specified if it was with a different woman etc.
He just seems like a player. Showed up to the meeting like he was going to clean out the Garage or something.
Wish her all the best of luck with him (I think she'll need it)

Glad to see that Tiwai found his Irish side. Not so easy to connect or reconnect with family you never knew. Genealogy and family ancestry research can be so exciting. One of my coworkers from the United States took a trip to Ireland (his ancestral homeland from a few generations back). While in Ireland, he got drunk in a bar and said offensive things and jokingly tried to imitate the stereotypical Irishman (something he learned in American culture). The Irish people didn't tolerate it. They ran him out of the bar and accused him of being a stereotypical arrogant American. He took his ignorance and returned to the US regretting his trip.

@@ellieantar809 We see so many weird stereotypes on TV about people from nonWestern cultures and in the past the media has socialized us into believe it. This is why I love TH-cam. We actually get to see videos made by people from Africa, Asian countries, Latin American countries, Middle Eastern, India, Britain, Eastern Europe, and etc. Their videos give us a more realistic non-stereotypical narrative of different cultures.

David looks so much like his dad, and looks like fraternal twins run in the family. Very sad his brother lost his life in the fire at such a young age. So tragic.

On the other shows, they are kind enough to deliver the bad news off camera. Then they catch up with the good news a bit later.

I don't find the format of this show empathatic to the people featured. The host is cold. The over dramatic music does not seem well suited to the delicate subject matter. Reveal of sensitive information in front of camera is the worst part. Very exploitive

I don't find the host cold, just matter of fact. But I do wish they would tell them in private.

I also like 'Long List Family' better for their sensitivity in giving people bad news off camera...also leaving some of their more private moments private. Why they both keep people in suspense to give what good news there is I don't know, except that it draws the viewers...at times like that a moment can seem an eternity!

thats why i love this show..less drama, and direct to the point..im sure they are empathetic with this people, its just dont show infront of camera.
