  • MEATER is the first completely wireless meat thermometer.
    Visit the MEATER website to learn more and order your MEATER today at meater.com.
    Take the guess work away from cooking using the MEATER Guided Cook feature. It sends automatic cooking notifications on your phone or tablet let you know when to remove your food from heat and when it is ready to eat.
    Simply complete the cook set up and the MEATER app's intelligence will calculate the remaining time of your cook and how high the internal temperature will rise when resting based on the data gathered.
    Just make sure to leave the MEATER probe in the meat until the MEATER app says it is read to eat! Bon appétit!

    It would be great if the app could tell you what temperature to set your oven to in the first place.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It really depends on your cooking style, if you'd rather cook hot and fast or have more time and could go low and slow. If you're pressed for time and need to turn up your oven, the app will factor that in and adjust the estimator accordingly. We hope that helps!

    It is still unclear to me what should the oven temperature should be set to. I tried looking in so many Meater videos but couldn't find this information.
    Are you supposed to set the oven to the Target temperature on the app?

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Joe! So the target temp in the app will be the internal temperature of the meat (your ideal doneness- medium rare medium, etc). As long as your oven/grill/smoker is below 527F/275C, you can set the oven temp to whatever you like. You could cook "hot and fast" (which is normally above 275F) or "low and slow" (which is generally 250F and below). It just depends on how you like to cook you meat/how much time you have. There are benefits to both cooking methods, but MEATER works well with both. We hope that helps to clarify!

      oven temperature can be 180 or plus. It has no meaning. What matters is the internal temp of the meat. When you hit it immediately remove it and rest it.

    How do you recommend searing the steak when it tells you it's too hot and you're going to damage the probe?

    • @kristenmoon4405
      @kristenmoon4405 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just use the neater to bring it up to temp, then pull it out when searing. Imo

    Is it possible to use multiple probes when cooking items with different target temps? i.e. multiple steaks Rare / Well

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely, Daniel! The app can Bluetooth-pair up to 4 probes. If you connect to the probes using WiFi using an additional phone or tablet or MEATER Block, you can connect up to 10 probes. Happy fooding!

    My probe always over heats with steaks. Just high on gas bbq. Even Traeger cooking a TRI tip at 350 I was getting warning of over heating. Not a pro at all so on steaks I was told to just cook on high with gas bbq 4 mins or so a side. Obviously with the probe I thought I’d be more efficient at nailing the perfect doneness but overheat the probe. I was thinking sear both sides and just cook at lower temp until correct domes temp.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Please keep in mind that the maximum ambient temperature is 527°F (275°C) and the maximum internal temperature is 212°F (100°C). We find that MEATER works best with the reverse-sear method, which we do in almost all of our videos! To do this, we recommend setting your target temperature 10°F lower, and after your steak is done resting, you can remove the probe and sear on high heat about 1 minute each side. :)

      No, it definitely does not. Mine always tells me to take the meat out when it meets the target temperature, so it's always overcooked by the time it has rested. I don't see how they can claim that this is a feature.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว

      Searing is a bit trickier with MEATER. We advise you to avoid direct heat grilling because high temperatures can damage the probe. So no flare ups, contact with the grates/pan, no cooking over direct flames and if you keep the ambient sensor under its max limit (527F) it’ll extend the life of the probe.

    Do I always have to reverse sear when grilling or frying a steak?

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David! Our preferred method is reverse sear, but you can pre-sear your steak as well. But depending on your searing temperature, we would recommend pre-searing without MEATER, then finishing the cook with MEATER low and slow. Cheers!
