Slam fire isn't that nice, in my opinion. You just change the trigger from the finger to the movement of the pump. It messes with accuracy, and I like having control on when the round goes out. When accuracy does not matter, I get it... but accuracy matters every other time.

I am Lithuanian, but i can still confirm. I have seen people from Romania (they had a romanian number plate) coming here to tear apart the container boxes we use to throw away old clothes. They then loaded all the old clothes into their car and drove away.

A pump-action weapon actually makes sense as a suppressor host. Semi-auto weapons unlock while there's still pressure in the chamber and are therefore always louder. Pumps will also cycle low power subsonic ammo that semi-autos can't because there isn't enough gas pressure to push the semi bolt carrier all the way back.
That gun may be cursed to those living in free states but for us in NY, this gun and pump action mechanisms in rifle platforms are truly saviors.
Not gonna lie, I'm in Europe, but I kinda want one. I've always had a soft spot for lever- and pump action guns.
Same goes for UK since here the only semi are 22lr...

It's a really cool and unique rifle, I have mine still even though I no longer live in a ban state. The action stays super clean with no gas system. Fun as hell and turns heads at the range.

Yep, here in Australia these types of rifles are becoming more and more common, as they're the closest hobbyists can get to having semi auto rifles. Is it the same? No. Still fun though.
As some one who lives in a restricted state, this would be sweet for me. That way I could justify all the 7.62 ammo I have since I lost my ak in a boating accident

My old boss actually uses a mossberg for home defense. He calls it his “noise maker” because every time someone tried to rob him, the sound of him racking the pump was enough to deter them.

So... I run a pump action 30-06 for whitetail hunting in the northeast, and I love it. Its an older model removable magazine-fed Remington 760 gamemaster that i bought when I was 18 (12 years ago). Its extremely handy in the bush and I swear it hits dead center without even trying. Its my lucky gun.

Funny story related to bolt-action guns that should be semi-auto, when I bought the parts for my first AR-15, I managed to get it fully assembled and took it out to the range for the very first time. I can still remember the excitement I had loading my first magazine and chambering my first 5.56 round that I had ever fired. I pulled the trigger and BAM, it works! Well I go to pull the trigger for my next shot and... nothing. "That's weird" I thought and began to check over the gun. The next round hadn't chambered and in fact, the spent casing hadn't even ejected. I had to manually cycle my gun to get it to shoot again. That entire day was spent using a bolt action AR-15.
So I take it home and take it apart to figure out what's going on, and I feel half like an idiot and half like I was scammed. My 16" barrel DIDN'T HAVE A GAS PORT DRILLED INTO IT. It had the markings of where the gas port was supposed to be, but it wasn't drilled! I felt like an idiot for setting up my gas block and everything without having checked beforehand to see if the hole was even there. I mean... I shouldn't feel TOO stupid for this right? Isn't it really weird for a gun barrel to NOT have the gas port drilled? The place I bought it from had no indication that the gas port hadn't been drilled.
So I ended up having to take it in to a local gunsmith to get the hole drilled as my powerdrill wasn't powerful enough for me to do it myself and I ended up having to pay $75 for what was like... 10 minutes of work. But the next time I took it to the range it ran smoothly in its natural semi-auto state (well, except for 3 rounds out of 100 that got jammed, but I assume it was just "new gun" things).

My 1st 5+1 Mossberg 500 could only fit 3 rounds. What the hell? Without knowing much, we're gonna strip this shotty and see whats up! There's a wooden stick in the ammo tube?!? Wtf? The stick rolled out and was never found again so I reassembled the gun without it ;)
This is before I knew there's like 10k gun laws and regulations at 16 years old. Kinda weird government wants to make more laws when there's already so many..

Edit, tried tapping my own holes for a scope mount in a Mosin decades ago, with a good drill press, top of the line bits and oil and barrel steel is pretty damned hard! Got one hole then sold it after botching the 2nd

#2 Capacity restrictions for the most part are for semi-auto firearms.
#3 As far as I know, US States that have mag capacity restrictions usually restrict you to 10 rounds.
#4 Stating a firearm law such as you did is rather inaccurate. Each state has their own laws. So it is rather idiotic to assume your statement would be the same for everyone.
#5 Assuming everything illegal is a felony is rather asinine. There are a wide range of charges. With most being of the misdemeanor variety.

This is literally, unironically the kind of thing people use here in the UK. Even this would require a licence with associated regular rectal exams from the cops. This is the closest you can get to an AK here (apart from maybe a Saiga, but they're pretty tricky to get I believe).

Sadly no, I’m the 1988 revision to the UK’s NFA it explicitly bans pump action rifles, the only exceptions being .22R (usually interpreted to mean .22 LR, but theoretically any .22 bullet fired with a rim fire primer) and any shotguns.
This was done as it was believed that pump action weapons could fire roughly as fast as semi autos, and these are what the act targeted after a “scary” type 56 was used in hungerford, only leaving .22R semis and semi shotguns legal. Which is a bit hypocritical as you could argue that a .410 slug is more lethal than a 5.56 round and the former can still be fired semi from a legally owned weapon as opposed to the illegality of the latter. The whole thing is stupid.

Honestly Brandon, not that weird in Australia. Here pump action shotguns are restricted, but for some reason not pump action rifles. There are several manufactures (Southern Cross Small Arms, Warwick, Wedgetail etc) making them by Australians for Australians, they're very popular with people wanting to get quick follow up shots without having to get the restricted licenses.

I appreciate this is 2 months ago, but one notable point on this. Is that they made is UK Friendly. As it is a single action rifle. However they already do make one but you have to pull the slide after every shot. And they do make a Semi Auto which is UK friendly Shotgun by AK. Great vid bud. I'm actually quite surprised these (and pump action ARs) aren't more popular in Commifornia and other similarly restrictive states. Since they aren't semi-auto, they get around most of their "assault weapon" laws.

Brandon, I am crazy happy to see this video. I actually had a PAR-1 in the late 90's. While it was fun to shoot, it really was a CURSED weapon. From failure to feed, to the pump action locking up, I really was better off throwing ammo and using the PAR-1 as a club.

Don't underestimate the power of a thrown firearm. Remember those Superman shows when they'd empty a revolver at him. He didn't flinch. But when they threw it at him he'd duck or block it.
These pump-action AKs and AR-15s are actually popular here in austria, because you can only have a limited number of handguns and self loading rifles. Pump-action rifles however don't take your allowed weapon slots.
How much does 7.62x39 cost per round out there ? (In USD)

@@MrBigChops Would imagine it would be similar to UK prices. Probably about 60 - 80 pence per round so about 1 dollar a round for Geco stuff. Quite expensive.

Here in South Africa there is a HUGE difference in licensing requirements between a pump action rifle and a semi-auto. So this kinda makes sense for us. (we can technically even own automatic rifles, but the requiremens are so onerous that only like 10 people do).
First pump action AK derivative I remember seeing was a pump version of the South African R4. I like pump actions in general so I wouldn't mind owning something like the PAR-1.
Here in the States, you would be at a disadvantage if your gun wasn't at least a semi auto. And usually the bad guys would be armed with fully auto weapons, just like our military and law enforcement.
Too bad white south africans lost most of their historical lands. Its looking like your country is going to go out like Rodesia soon.
Same in many European countries. Repeating rifles are quite easy to acquire in countries like Czechia or Austria. Even in Germany it would be easier to acquire a pump action AK than a semi automatic one.

All jokes aside, I'm surprised this wasn't a more common rifle design. having a pump instead of a bolt. A pump just feels so much more natural.
Pump action rifles used to be way more common back in the 60s and 70s, mostly for hunting rifles
I was actually working at Century Arms when we started importing these. Yeah they were stupid and yes we had to fix a bunch of them for not properly functioning before we could sell them.
We were also importing AKs that took a goofy 10 round single stack AK. With the exception of a few we saved for Kommiefornia, the rest went into a CNC mill and got milled out to take 30 rounders.

Finally someone to ask this question: why in the heck did so many of those WASRs have canted sights? I mean, I remember seeing several at a Cabelas. Over half of them had the sight block tilted noticeably to one side or the other. And they had maybe ten or so of them on the rack. Some of the others may have been off, too, but not as bad.
@kirkmooneyham For that question, you'll have to ask a Romanian gun assembler. We swapped several parts to meet the Clinton Crime Bill requirements. But we never touched the trunions or sight posts.

I had a Romanian WASR10 for a while. What a fantastic rifle! Regret the hell out of that sale. Now I have a psa gf3 and it’s ok but man that Romanian rifle was super accurate and very reliable. I’m still mad at myself for ever letting that one go

PS: If you don't get the reference . In Romania there is an actual tradition to slaughter pigs before Christmas , many households do this , look it up.... similar with turkey for Thanksgiving, only we buy them almost always alive and we need to... "fix" that ourselves.

I would just stay clear from Bucharest and it's surroundings tho , there is not much to see or visit there, just like most capitals ... a lot of concrete :)).

I recall seeing a lot of these at gun shows in the late 90's/early 2000's in California. Everyone would see it get really interested someone had "found a loophole" to the CA AWB and then realize the stupid thing needed to be "pumped" every time it fired and immediately loose interest.

Not gonna lie. When I first saw those in Shotgun News years ago, I really wanted one, just for the weird factor. It would be a great starting point for an integrally suppressed AK. No gas port or action noise. No problem running subs.

This is incredibly cursed, but would be less cursed if it was chambered in 12 -8 gauge, that could be cool to have a Kalashnikov styled shotgun, though it probably curves back up to cursed if it was chambered in 6 gauge.

In Metal Slug franchise, all the special weapons have the same sprite(loosely based on a FAL with a wooden grenade launcher). But if you get the Shotgun, in some games, the character will pump it. In other words, this proof of concept makes a real life metal slug shotgun/heavy machinegun possible

I know this sounds crazy but I live in NY State and we would welcome such a firearm. There are so many hurdles to jump to own a semiautomatic firearm. I wish someone would produce a pump action AK47 today. I love the AK but can't own one in NY.

Me too, but I think it'd be very marginal gas loss, 2% +/- if I wanted to take a guess.. it'd probably fall into between each cartridge variable
I think velocity would be negligible but accuracy might increase with the bolt staying fully locked as you shoot

I was so sure shotgun silencers were a joke. It boggles my mind still between what little I know about suppressors and buckshot. 😅
Buckshot doesn't begin to spread until it loses a lot of momentum. For the first couple of yards there's almost no spread at all. You'll see lots of competition shotguns have extended mag tubes that protrude further than the muzzle. And they get no damage. Maybe just a bit of flash burn marks. Boggled my mind at first too though.

I'll answer some questions, here. The suppressor is called the Salvo 12. You CAN use birdshot with it. You should not used rifled slugs with it, however.

What I mainly remember about those, was that they were more expensive than a "butthole" stocked AK clone. Working part time for a NFA dealer, we always figured the majority of these were sold in California or other locales with 'tarded gun laws.
I can't say I ever saw one outside of a distributor's catalog, even at the big SAR shows in Phoenix.
A related bit of weirdness you might have some fun with were the odd AK clones that had a single column 10 round mag.

There are many countries in the world where semi auto rifles are either banned or getting a licence for one is difficult. For example here in Finland you definitely can own a semi auto if you have a legitimate use for it which you must prove again every 5 years to keep your gun but it's much easier to get a permit for a manual rifle. Also we have a law that limits the capacity of a semi auto to 3 rounds total when hunting while on a manual gun you can use as big a mag you can carry so something like this could have it's uses in, say, deer hunting.

You'll probably get tired of rapid-firing 30 shots of good ol' 7.62x39mm ammo. _The hand will hurt a lot after that._
I am not entirely unconvinced that at least at some point someone in the design team made it their mission to also make this gun relatively easy to convert to a basic AK. The trickiest part is getting that front gas block off enough to drill the gas port, then cludge in a more proper gas tube and replace the piston end of the bolt carrier group.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if your basic pattern of handguard and gas tube can just be dropped in to this sucker. So it might just have the secondary role of being "Made to be Bubba'd."
I always drill my barrel through the installed gas block anyway. So it may be easier than you think to make into a normal AK.
I own one of these, and converting it is not worth it. It's a long and spendy process. Honestly, I think it's a really unique and fun rifle the way it is.
I think the only reason this gun exists is because a pump-action is cool, and an AK is cool, so put them together. They made them kith.
