    I could stay there - no problem :) I can imagine sitting in the sun and watching big lashups with long trains roll by all day. Relaxing! It's nice that Ms. Tooth travels with you and is a railfan :) Please thank her for the opposite side of the train video.

      I could as well, because my childhood home, look up Sherman Street, Gloucester City, NJ, is about a block away from a once busy railroad, it used to have four trains a day on it. Now it only has two a day.

    In regard to the single stack train about 11 minutes into the video: Most single stack CSX trains are either coming from or going to the Baltimore, MD area. There is a long tunnel under the city (about 2 miles in length) - The Howard Street Tunnel that is too low in height to accept double stacks. Currently, CSX & the City are working to make the tunnel double stack friendly. Do not know when the completion date is projected. We Maryland rail fans are interested in the project. So all traffic from/to the New York area are single stacks. Just an FYI.

    • @t.j.carroll8512
      @t.j.carroll8512 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering the same thing. Used to be a low tunnel in DC but CSX fixed it a little while back.

    • @perchlarkin
      @perchlarkin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is the same thing with trains running between New England and Chicago. A tunnel with a low height clearance in Western Massachusetts. BTW that tunnel can handle double stacked garbage containers. But they're international containers. While the rest are domestic. Believe it is the Haasac Tunnel.

    • @kendufresne
      @kendufresne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@perchlarkin almost correct, Hoosac tunnel :)

    • @johndanaher6371
      @johndanaher6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might be longer than I thought on this project. I just looked it up and there are 2 other bridges that have to be replaced along the line in the city, not just the tunnel. Great explanation though. I figured the same thing about that particular train too.

    Loved the lodgings. I lived for years right at a main track line and loved those sounds. Only woke up when the usual train didn’t arrive, & stayed awake until it did or fm radio said why. Once woke up during the one and only crash/derailment within hearing. Two people in the automobile fatalities, no train crew injuries, long night. But mostly, trains just a relaxing part of my young adult working life. I would stay in that loc for a week, great vacation for me!

    Looks like a fun place to stay for the day and night but expect to wake up frequently. It looks like an abandoned road and probable grade Xing so luckily a little less horn action. Glad to see Mrs. Tooth enjoying the great outdoors. Norfie still thinking I can't believe I fell for that silly carrier trick. Chessie had that heh-heh look and thinking finally got rid of that interloper. The tail wasn't exactly wagging upon return of that feline interloper. And so it goes. Nice tape showing the possibilities. Thanks!

    2nd CSX single stack: There's some overpass in the upper northeast on the CSX system that is too low for double stacks, thus single stacks. 3rd CSX double stack/autorack: 4 jacks @ 6 axles each = 24 axles minus 540 total axles = 129 cars. Keep up the good work. The Missus should start her own channel.

    Old wooden house on blocks with a tin roof, (loud as F*** during a hail storm).
    I first slept there (1982) and woke up in the middle of the night thinking a train was coming into the bedroom at 2a.m. House shakes every time a train comes through. It's the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad now, not sure who owned it back then.

    I should add that once it gets warm in Ohio a nice trip would be to go to the Conneaut Ohio and Ashtabula area. When I worked up there trains were plentiful. There are three railroads that run through there. CSX, Norfolk Southern and CN. The CN pulls iron ore up a heavy grade from the lake shore. Good watching.
