Lee Carsley will be the interim option it makes sense he is given a chance, he won the U21s playing attractive football with Palmer, Gordon etc, think it would suit all involved then assess performance in a few games. When Gareth was in charge and Eddie’s employed by Newcastle, he’s hardly going to say he wants the job. Time will tell but as I say in the video I think he stays at Newcastle.

If I was Eddie I'm taking England. Probably more money, definitely more job security without Amanda, working part time with this crop of players. Following southgate things are guaranteed to improve and a knighthood if you win owt. Toon job would be a very poor second

In the semi-final against Holland is the only time he appeared to get it right with Watkins and Palmer and we all know what happened there. He has the defence solid as do the Spanish. If not for Pickford England would have been 3 down, but Palmer with a wonder strike brings it back to 1 v1 and Spain slightly rattled. It was the time for action. GORDON!!!! On the left, Saka the right. 15mins to go and win a major tournament, which would have been extremely harsh on the Spanish. Like England in the previous final. But what does he do? Nothing. After thinking about it for a while, I actually wouldn't be that bothered if Howe went to England. This is because (Newcastle to one side) I actually do think Howe is a perfect fit, and if it meant England stick with an English manager I'd be all for it. I think England should always have an English manager. Newcastle are in great hands. We would just go out and get another class manager in a heartbeat. Maybe that 'elite' manager everyone talks about for the next phase...................

If I'm in charge of the FA then there is no other candidate, it's Eddie Howe.
Hopefully Eddie says no, but he might look at the England squad and think he may not get a better chance of winning something at international level.

Saying that, Southgate's record isn't that impressive. Look who he's come up against in knockout football and don't tell me every other England manager ever (bar the Iceland team) couldn't have made it to the same finals. He would be perfect for England but if you watch all of his interviews he tells you that he is a workaholic that has to be ‘on set’ at all times. Even if he wasn’t at Newcastle, I don’t think he would take it at this stage of his career because he is too enthralled in daily management. If he were 10 or even 5 years older with the same rep I’d say he would snap the FA’s hand off.

Youths on his side so think he’s got the potential to go up another level.. Would be a sad day for the football club if he left

@@ElenaMarcelino9 7th in the league narrowly missing out on Europe is not terrible but it’s not fantastic. It’s okay and people recognise that Eddie deserves another season on the basis of his achievements in the first season. The overwhelming majority of fans believe this thankfully.

I think lee carsley should be given a good look, he has worked with many of the youth talent just like de la fuente with spain and…he won the u21 euros with gordon…has a winning mentality and experience unlike boregate.
