I love Marukis palace so much because it feels so unique. All other palaces seem to have their uniqueness to them but still follow a similar structure, but the final palace blew me away with how peaceful and calming it is. Someone a chaotic dungeon crawler managed to find a perfect balance between hostility and the calming, welcoming side of the palace. Top notch
Honestly, I really didn't mind the extra challenge in Maruki's palace. Especially the final boss that I knew without any hints that it was gonna be hard and long as hell
I feel I have to say something when you mentioned how the god boss of this game felt shoehorned in. I think the game did a good job at foreshadowing the this guy thanks to 1 major fact- Akechi. It was never explained how he got the Nav to begin with, plus the common theme of people's emotions going all over the place didn't feel totally natural, PLUS the fact that Joker was treated like a criminal to begin in the Velvet Room. But that's just me.
@@TLcool4 nope, the velvet room and the „rehab“ were both yaldis doing, not jokers mind creations. he even says „welcome to *my* velvet room“ instead of „welcome to the velvet room“, a small, but significant detail in hindsight.
@@TLcool4 haven‘t played strikers yet, can‘t take it into account yet. but I remember clearly that igor never had a „Rehabilitation“ in mind. if you think about it, Rehab is a way to get you to fit into society again, that kiiinda conflicts with the rebellious spirit in the first place.
@@V1G4M1 but the reason his heart is a prison cell is because that's how he views his situation. Think about it wouldn't you feel trapped if you were forced to go to school in a different city for a year or go to jail for something you didn't do
I actually quite like Yaldabaoth as a villain. Not only is his design awesome, but as a character, he's really fascinating. Plus, I think it's really cool how the guy you thought was helping you the whole game turned out to be the one behind everything. Also, he's voiced by David Lodge, AKA Jeralt from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which is an automatic plus from me. Also, Futaba's disliked by the community?! How?! She's, like, one of the best parts of the game!
I can agree that Okumura’s boss is annoying, but I personally love it in terms of character (and really only character). It feels like the pressures of a work environment: the time limits of projects, the personal preferences of the boss (the DEF boost), the destruction of the worker’s self worth (explosion), the fleeing under the pressure and the boss’ lack of care, as it can easily replace those workers (hence the wave gimmick). It all works to make the player feel overwhelmed and feel forced to meet unreasonable expectations; the same feelings that Okumura’s workers may go through every day. Time is money, and the dialogue is no excuse as time still goes forward. It also tests the player’s strategies with 1 Mores and Baton Passes to maximise damage output, even though the fight itself is annoying tough. This is in no way a defense for the fight itself, which is a bit too tough and boring when compared with other bosses in the game. I just wanted to highlight why I can personally tolerate Okumura’s fight, even though I played on Hard Mode.
Fun fact: each of the palaces are themed after the seven deadly sins (along with two nontraditional ones). In order, they are: Lust (Kamoshida’s Castle) Vanity (Madarame’s Museum) Gluttony (Kaneshiro’s Bank) Wrath (Futaba’s Pyramid) Greed (Okumura’s Spaceport) Envy (Sae’s Casino) Pride (Shido’s Cruise Liner) Sloth (Mementos Depths) Sorrow (Maruki’s Lab)
I’ve always thought Futaba should be Sloth due to her shut-in nature. Also Kaneshiro could just as easily be Greed as Okumura. I think Wrath would work for mementos if you think about it as a vengeful god rarher than an apathetic people.
@@FFgamesftw well Futaba’s is both but wrath is the main one due to the Sphinx. Kaneshiro’s is gluttony because, unlike Okumura, he was satisfied overindulging in money just for the sake of it and didn’t have any other ambitions beyond that. For Mementos you’re kind of right because Yaldabaoth is all of the sins but sloth is the main one because he represents humanity’s desire to maintain the status quo no matter the cost.
15:30 Little hint for anyone about to enter the boiler room: don’t enter the boiler room unless you have full health and sp I made this mistake once and it was brutal
I feel like the museum was rather underwhelming, but considering it's the followup act to freaking Kamoshida, it makes sense. Not to mention that I never had trouble with it, even in my first playthrough of vanilla, which was a dumpster fire otherwise, tbh.
Tbh Madarame’s palace is easier to minnimum trip clear due to the forced exit at the halfway point. Sure you keep going in and out of Kamoshida’s palace however you make pretty much no progress until after you get Ann. Also it’s still early in the game so you are massively lacking in any way to restore SP. Tbh Madarame’s palace I think was weak not because of the palace itself but the motivation to infiltrate it. I think this is part of the reason Okumura’s is also weak is you enter the palace without hating the guy and only learn to dislike them as you go. Kamoshida, Kaneshiro, & Shido you have ample reason to take them down from what you witness in the real world and not just their cognitions.
I can see where you’re coming from with Morgana being narcissistic and needy. Even if Ryuji’s comment was a bit harsh, that didn’t warrant Morgana taking his frustrations out on the whole group and leaving just to be petty. When Rise took over as the Navigator in Persona 4, Teddie didn’t throw a fit over it. He instead chose to work on his own strength and self-confidence so that he could fight on the front lines with the rest of the Investigation Team. I know Teddie kinda gets a bad rap as well for his impulsive and flirty tendencies, but I can’t help loving that hopeful little bear; and it says a lot when the most childish of the Persona mascots ends up growing much more than his successor.
I will be real here: Morgana made me appreciate Teddie a lot more. Not saying I hate Morgana, but I feel Teddie was a better character overall. Not just his character arc in P4 but also his friendship with Nanako, and Labrys in P4 Arena.
I feel like one of the things people forget is that Morgana, for the better part of the game, has been dealing with Ryuji's shit and NO ONE has been standing up for him. How would you feel if you were constantly berated by someone who's supposed to be your friend, and no one else in your friend group called out the guy who, honestly, was bullying you. Ryuji's comment wasn't the only thing that made him leave, it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Also worth mentioning is that Persona 3 had a character arc about someone's jealousy leading to them being a dick all due to a feeling of inadequacy, and they did it much better. After beating the lovers arcana, Junpei becomes a major asshole towards the main character and this lasts for a while until Junpei later apologizes to you and acknowledges that he was being an asshole and does NOT go off on his own and causing a big stink for SEES
@@WolfRider2002 he didn't go off on his own, but he definitely caused a big stink for SEES by claiming to Chidori that he was the Leader, getting himself captured and almost killed for it. Like that was a pretty big thing that happened
@@ZekromAndYugiAndDrago123 true. But by doing so they were able to capture Chidori and taking away a crucial ally from Strega. Besides, that was long after the jealousy arc and more Junpei being an idiot
I will agree with some stuff you said about yaldabaoth, except that ameno-sagiri has a cooler design. To me, he is literally a ball with an eye. Yaldabaoth looks like a full-on god.
My favorite part about Maruki's palace is when you first visit it. At this point in the game, you're likely busy with another palace so you aren't exactly expecting any new palace to show up. When it does show up, you're thrown for a loop because this place looks so different from other palaces and because you weren't prepared for another palace at this point in the game. This palace showing up is all the more shocking if you played through the original game
i hope persona 6 can give the perfect balance of each persona game, the relatability of the persona 4 cast, a story on the level of the persona 2 duology, the maturity of persona 3 and the premade dungeons of persona 5 along with all of the quality of life changes persona 5 royal had with an amazing soundtrack to top it all off (also i have yet to finish the first persona game so forgive me for not including something from that)
i kinda changed my strategy when i hit Shido's and every palace after by using hypnomists. puts the enemies to sleep so you can run around and figure out where you're meant to be going then take on the enemies without having them ambush you first. it helped a hell of a lot
It is pretty bad but I think the real issue is it’s such a great game that is made legitimately worse because of said level still my favorite game though
i have come from the year 2022 to tell you everyone loves the meat circus now. the meat stans have eliminated all meat circus related dissent. citizens must carry proof they have beaten the level lest they risk public flogging. the whips used in flogging are made of bacon. honey pepper.
I agree with you about Okumura for the most part besides the boss fight which I have a newfound respect for due to how it forced me to keep in mind my team comp and make elemental weapons to string a full baton pass string before delivering a massive hit on the enemies. I reccomend triple down after doing three baton passes during the round before the robots retreat since it’s a multi hit and does a good job at taking out the beefed up robot. I’d also recommend a physical resist persona like Shinji Ouji that can block physical attacks so that the big robot can’t hurt him neither can the physical attackers.
If I had to rank them 10: Okumura’s Space Port 9: Mementos 8: Kaneshiro’s Bank 7: Madarame’s Museum 6: Depths Of Mementos 5: Shido’s Ship 4: Futaba’s Pyramid 3: Kamoshida’s Castle 2: Sae’s Casino 1: Maruki’s Laboratory
@Dafawfulizer Sojiro may starts off as an A-hole, but if you bond with him, he's basically a Dad to Futaba and to Joker; even if the player chooses to romance Futaba.
I disagree with your assessment of the Depths of Mementos and the OG final boss. Yes, Shido’s Palace, boss fight (that music! God tier for the entire series!), and the resulting fallout are excellent and satisfying. However, it was clear throughout the game that there was a trail of breadcrumbs to follow, little hints pointing at something much bigger than Shido pulling the strings. All this bad stuff getting uncovered in a relatively small timespan, the unusually strong reactions of the public and the unexpected boost in the Phantom Thieves’ popularity, the changes in the Igor we knew before going into P5, the emphasis on fighting wrongs and punishment, the superior attitudes you witness getting worse and worse the higher in society you get, the fact that Akechi got the Meta-Nav for no apparent reason, the existence of Mementos and the trains of people silently riding out of sight at all times.... When you put all the pieces together, it’s obvious there’s something bigger going on here. More importantly, the Palaces themselves represent the illusion of perception, of each rulers’ greatest sin and how it colors the way they see the world. So what would be the greatest sin ruling the collective subconscious mind of society as a whole? Apathy. More specifically, the willingness to simply fall in line and let things happen rather than stand against them, to support what’s popular and forget or ignore what isn’t while idolizing that which is shiny and powerful, even if that object of worship is revealed as corrupted beyond saving and dangerous. Ultimately the story is about the bet between Igor and Yaldabaoth playing out, with the odds stacked against our favorite long-nosed man: the god given form and purpose by the public’s whims and indolence, versus the man who has consistently aided those individuals chosen to shake up the system and prevent the world from collapsing by way of rebellion, by fighting for change despite what society tells them to do. That’s why Joker’s greatest Persona turns out to be Satanael, a demon king called to destroy this god for his arrogance at forcing humanity to do as he says and obediently act the role of lemmings rather than forge their own way to a better tomorrow. What seems good and pure is evil, and what appears evil is the embodiment of justice and freedom. The Yaldabaoth fight is a perfect final boss because he is the source of all the evil the Thieves have faced, the reason for Shido’s rise to power and Joker’s torment, and thus he must be punished, and the ultimate Treasure that is the corrupted Holy Grail destroyed. Also, where did you get this “Futaba is mostly disliked by the fan base”? The impression I got from the original game’s reactions and those for Royal all put her as one of the fan-favorite break-out characters because of her gamer-hacker-geek personality and quirkiness. I haven’t seen many negative reactions to her at all.
Shido= Directly or Indirectly caused all the shit that happened to the thieves Yaldy boi= Some cup who made society lazy Plus if the source of all human apathy is one Big Boi with gold, then the message is "Shoot god to make people try to do things" Like, take a dive into actual fucking societal problems that caused mass apathy, not just have be the machinations of an extremely generic villain with a million voice filters. Hell, Shido's more to blame for societal laziness because we actually see him constantly use the failures of the other politicians as the main reason as why you should vote for him, thus making people put all of their trust into him, rather than themselves. While we see Yaldy boi do nothing other than make a bit of an apocalypse
Other things to love about him is that he is so massive that you can almost not even see your party members. He also has such a cool gimmick of wielding 4 weapons at the same time: a gun, a bell, a sword, and a book! They are not strong themselves, but it can be nasty if they all exist at the same time added with the fact that they can use the 7 sins against you. Still could not believe that i beat him on my first try on hard! He theme is banger as well.
@@CMGThePerson correct me if I’m wrong but yald is supposed to be societies apathy towards issues, a lot of stuff in society goes ignored and when enough noise is made about the issue it’s really only popular for a few months Max then fades away. Sure shido is the cause for some of Japan’s issues but yald is the personification of shido, the other palace bosses and humans in general. I think if the game tried to get joker and the others to try and solve the problem of apathy then they would be just like maruki IMO because to me the phantom thieves job was to make others wake up and take a look at their desires and see if they become better ppl.
Unfortunately I think you misunderstood the reason behind Yaldaboth it’s not that he was just some random god that basically said fuck humanity the reason why Yaldaboth became that powerful was Joker and the thieves themselves because they kept changing peoples heart the people of Japan started relying only on the phantom thieves and not making decisions for themselves. That’s how he was able to have complete control over the masses of Japan. Also I don’t think he came out of nowhere from the very start you know somethings off about Igor especially his voice. Also who gave Akechi the meta nav app that’s right Yaldaboth. So yeah Yaldy’s pressence is throughout the entirely of the game.
The annoying gimmick where the robots run away was added for royal they made a meh fight horrible and the secret true ending of p4g which I guess you didn't get you actually fight a different god in it
The transition from P5 to P5R turned a fight that was horrible due to it being too easy into a fight that is even worse due to it being way too difficult and not in a good way.
i legit remembered watching your vids as a kid especially these obama saw games and now seeing you play a game of my fav franchise is like a huge blessing to me, like a good childhood youtuber playing p5r made me happy as hell
I actually nearly cried when I had to fight Aketchi after that hard ass fight. Managed to be him in one go but yeah that shit was nail biting. HOWEVER, I think that was kind of the point, I don't like it that much but I get why they did that. And damn is he a sad character at the end.
karol Dubiel Nah the lock keepers are pushovers after the first dungeon and the only reason the first one is a challenge is because your still learning the combat of Strikers then again I have played games like Strikers before
I feel like you underrated the symbolism in the Depths of Mementos. Also, the burnout you were seemingly feeling in the Quilipoth world part of the dungeon was likely due to spending about an hour on story cutscenes, however long it took you to get to the bottom of Mementos, and the whole mementos depths dungeon. Basically, on a sitting of its own, the quilipoth world is a perfectly fine addition. Also the symbolism in the dungeon is excellent, as it is with most others in the game.
During Madarame's Palace, or rather what happens outside it I always get a kick out of the part where Ann and Yusuke are cornered by Madarame and Ann grabs Yusuke from behind and drags him into the back store room like "yoink!"
Hot Take: I really love Okumura's Palace. Maybe it's just my love of puzzles like the Airlock puzzle, but it is one of my absolute favorite Palaces. The music slaps, the boss fight honestly isn't that bad if you remember which robots are weak to which, and requires remembering the many mini boss fights across the Palace, and I never found myself running out of time.
Kamoshida’s palace is how you should start a video game. It hits every point to the 10’s. Even relaying the game that whole palace is just so well designed. I definitely approve of the new stuff added in royal
But of course it’s obviously good we all have different takes on the game. My opinion on the game is extremely personal and my experience is basically my own so yeah. I mean I think the final boss fight in the base game is fantastic so that basically tells you what my opinion is
- I used to feel bad for Morgana and Ryuji during the Okumura arc, but the biggest reason for the Morgana hate, as you stated in your video is that it robs Haru of much needed character development, something the game despperately needed from the original, hell Royal gave Kasumi more character development than poor Haru. The fight with Okumura is designed around the baton pass for Royal (which got buffed?) to get around the various things helping you out (ex. Maruki's Detox ability from his confidant, the Harisen Recovery confidant ability that ALL the Phantom Thieves get besides Joker and even Ann's blasted Dekaja skill [put the AI on act freely and you will see my hatred for it and Morgana's Pulinpa]). - Honestly, Kaneshiro's Palace is better than is made out to be in this video, it has fantastic music (which gets dropped partway through), the security cameras make sense since it is a bank, overall, I would say this Palace is better than Kamoshida's. Also the raising the security level doesn't really do anything besides increase the chance of encountering treasure demons, in the original Persona 5, it kicked you out of the Palace at 100% but they got rid of that, literally making Ohya's confidant completely useless. - I love Futaba's Palace, it is easily in my top 5, while it's boss fight can be entirely chessed by gimmicks, the story and aesthetics more than make up for it. You want to complete the palace as soon as it is available because you want to save Futaba, not to make a bad person repent their sins. - Kamoshida is a well written villain, it makes you want to take him down because 3/4 of the Phantom Thieves have a personal vendetta against him, especially Ann who damn near lost a friend to one man's selfish ambitions. - Madarame's boss fight changed from being one of the easiest in P5 vanilla to arguably one of the hardest, especially on Hard or Merciless. - Honestly, Maruki's boss fight is one of the easier ones in the game, since by that point, you are nearing or at max level, have high level Personas and your team's 3rd awakenings (shout out here to Ann and her whole party Concentrate skill and Makoto with her aoe Debilitate). Even if you do not use the busted DLC Personas, you can wipe the floor with Maruki pretty easily, it just takes time because of the gimmicky nature. Maruki's Palace theme is too soothing to me, it is one of those things you put on to help you sleep. The aesthetics of the palace are neat and the story is well written, but the boss fight and the music hold it back a little.
Let me guess okaumaru palace is last and royal new dungeon is first Edit: call it, but have to said I was close on royal new dungeon being first. I will said royal does make it less of a pain. Also I’m annoyed that Morgana got most of the spotlight despite it should be haru spotlight. Thankful striker give her more screen time and her spotlight with the 3rd jail. I have to said okumaru is almost nothing compare to some of the worst of smt(aka the worst of strange journey)
I remember it took me 7-9 tries to beat that man and his robots, especially the chief directors, which caused 60% of my deaths! 35% to suicide from running out of time, and 5% from the giant robot spamming big burger challenge while i was unprepared (well actually, I was about out of time, so I had no choice). but when I beat him, I was break dancing like crazy!
HYPE BOI!!! Also, is it Vanilla or Royal? In Royal for example, Okaumaru would be higher for me since his palace is less tedious and his fight was so sastifying to beat on hard mode and made me use big brain! It would also include the true final palace. Plus it would count will seeds, the hidden collectables of this game.
Before playing the game, everyone told me that I would love Sae's palace and that I wouldn't like Kaneshiro's. But after playing throught, Kaneshiro's was probably my favorite palace and Sae's was one of my least favorites. (Gameplay wise)
I dont engage with the community a bunch so i didnt realise futaba was a disliked character which is so wild to me, i relate to her the most, im autistic myself so her hyper fixations and way of talking were endearing parts of her character to me, i giggle at a ton of her lines and imo she has the funniest line in the game when you get turned into rats and fox makes his rat puns and futaba's just like "ugh go to hell inari" that makes me die laughing everytime
Actually if Okumura makes one of the robots charge the self destruct it's actually helpful to you, because you don't need to destroy that one to end the wave so you can just focus on destroying the other three.
I couldn't find any data on how much screen time Kamoshida and Shido get exactly but the starter villain having more of a presence than the big bad is jarring. What's also jarring is the fact that it doesn't even feel like Shido is phased out of the plot too well before his long break and eventual return.
Marukis palace is so good to me for the fact it makes you face a dilemma. What Maruki is doing may be extreme but is similar to what the phantom thieves do. Changing people forcibly for the greater good. The whole story behind it too is just sad and everything about the palace is peak. I’m so glad that it was as good as it was and not just a sloppy addition that atlus did to get more money.
Great video as is and i honestly agree with most of this list with the exceptions being marukis being number 1 and putting Shido's up higher. I do disagree with the point about the okumura boss fight and yaldy. The final dungeon of persona 5 not royal is very much necessary because Shido's place dosent answer the big questions about mementos, morgana and the velvet room. Though i do agree that its somewhat boring and the boss is just ehh The okumura boss fight i heavily disagree with cause personally the fights amazing. Its not about mindless spamming attacks its about being smart and using baton passes and like the entire palace before has subtly hinted at haru's usefulness as the enemies no longer resist guns. Its not about hitting them all, its about building up combos, the timer really only exists to pressure you into making bad desicans which is thematically appropriate considering how overworked the workers are. The enemies running away also make perfect sense, their scared and unwillingly to die for a company that uses and abuses them. while the executive is the worst part of the fight due to big bang and him being a health sponge, Robo haru is incredibly emotional and devastating in what okumura barks at her to do. Basically okumara is really only hard cause the game is basically telling you to think for once and break out of the mindset of hit the weakness, pass, weakness so on and so on before you all out attack. A pattern you need to break as the later battles get tougher and tougher
Fun fact: That's Makoto Naegi's VA voicing Human Morgana And Ironically, it's not the first time he voiced a character associated with a cat Chat Noir from Miraculous Ladybug yup..... That's him
maruki’s palace is honestly PEAK FICTIONNNN. i have so so much to say abt it and philosophical shit but ill spare yall sae’s palace is a real close 2nd place, i just wish it was longer and had an alt theme (its the only palace with 1 theme, and i mean it fucking SLAAAPS but i get tired of hearing it for like 1-2 hours on most playthroughs)
Pointing out one thing in Okumura's boss for vanilla and Royal players: I WAS SO ANNOYED OF MARUKI'S DETOX CONFIDANT ABILITY ....it literally robs you from your only chance
My ranking: 1| Laboratory of Sorrow (Maruki's Palace) 2| Casino of Envy (Niijima's Palace) 3| Castle of Lust (Kamoshida's Palace) 4| Museum of Vanity (Madarame's Palace) 5| Pyramid of Wrath (Futaba's Palace) 6| Bank of Gluttony (Kaneshiro's Palace) 7| Cruiser of Pride (Shido's Palace) 8| Depths of Mementos 9| Spaceport of Greed (Okumura's Palace) 10| Mementos
Just a little dumb thing you can do with Okumura’s boss fight is to use a gun amp (50% gun power) on Haru and Joker (if you’re able to have a persona with triple down), and go wild. It’s not perfect, and I still absolutely hate the fight, but hey it’s something
Fun Fact: Cognitive Haru in Okumura's Spaceport is only in the Royal version So is the other Cognitive versions that are in boss fights Mishima and Shiho in That sicko Kamoshida's Palace for instance
@@TLcool4 not really, I was hunting for the ingredients for the Perma-Pick after the 4th(?) Palace, but I didn’t know that the acquisition had changed in Royal.
Fun fact: Royal is the only version that has the After battle Reload for your guns In the original version if you use up your bullets in a Palace run, guess what you gotta leave the Palace completely and come back the next day
Although I agree that Morgana is quite annoying and I can agree with some of the placements on the list, there is a lot of stuff I cannot agree on the video, specially every time you say a puzzle was too confusing (that bank puzzle was very simple math, not hard at all) or it appears too much or there is Akechi's fight after the cleaner. None of it is actually a game problem, you just found it difficult for you, so I couldn't put it as negative aspects of the game. Same for final boss, I found him pretty interesting (even so I also prefer Shido as final). I was impressed with Shido's palace being that low, it is one of the best palaces of the game. And generally speaking the palaces had a huge improvement if you beat the vanilla first, then the Royal.
I just reached Okumura's palace. I had to use a guide for Futaba's palace because I was confused as to where I was going. I have about 65 hours on the switch version of Royal. Edit: I beat P5R in February 17th
Say, do you take game recommendations? If so, I'd definitely like to see your thoughts on Everhood. That game has a story that I can't really say anything about without spoiling the entire thing, a memorable cast of characters, very unique gameplay and an amazing soundtrack. Only major issue I know of is the game isn't long enough for the story to hit as hard as it could've.
2:28 gotta clarify that both of them were ass holes to eachother. Its just that Ryuji was making fun of Morgana during the time he was insecure. Not to say his actions weren't stupid, what he did was 100% an over reaction and both were in the wrong throughout the arc.
I beat the cleaner within 4 or 5 turns. Set up a power up charges swords thingy (does colossal damage to one foe) and almost killed him in one hit. Finished off with the rest of the team.
My issue with the whole "Depths of Momentos" is that its supposed to be hard. Its not supposed to be a pretty palace its not supposed to be a beautiful area you want to look at, its cold and dark, just like the reality of what the PTs discover
My ranking I guest? 9: Mementos Depths 8: Spaceship of Greed 7: Bank of Gluttony 6: Museum of Vanity 5: Cruise Ship of Pride 4: Casino of Envy 3: Castle of Lust 2: Pyramid of Wrath 1: Laboratory of Sorrow
Also, i know I’m really late to the party but; the group was also worried because the principal died and people were suspended it was the phantom thieve’s doing. So, Morgana getting pissy at them for not agreeing to go after Okumura just makes him look like an arrogant asshole. Plus, the way his arc is framed; it just looks like he’s mad about Futaba taking his role as the Navigator, Especially when he didn’t make a big stink about Makoto joining the group.
@@tantheman0921 First one has a blatant workaround and turns out to be very useless, second one I do believe you can circumvent as well but the means to do so is quite subtle.
Question, would changing the order of the palaces dampen or strengthen their impact? For example, in a world where this creators version of the nude model scene exists, would Madarame’s palace make sense as the second one? Or could it be the third one for a more enhanced effect. Ann’s feeling down lately, if you do her social status which is truly beneficial to have early game, you’ll see she is slowly building her confidence in herself through workouts and finally taking modeling seriously. Then comes Madarame’s storyline and she offers to pose nude, she could still be uncomfortable because while she is a model…she’s not That kind of model…and the scene plays out normally. This makes that scene both comedic as well as empowering because Ann’s journey comes full circle where she takes back what Kamoshida stole…her self esteem and confidence
You kinda missed the truth about Shido. He says he was chosen by God and that why he’s the way he is and does what he does. Turns out he’s not wrong as Yaldo gave him the power to do what he did. Plus without that final chapter you don’t understand Akechi being able to use 2 different personas and why he and Joker parallel each other. Oh and we get real Igor so that’s a major dub
My main complaints about Labratory of sorrow are, 1. There's a lot of backtracking (ik there's quite a bit of backtracking in Casino of envy too but it isn't nearly as bad) 2. The boss was disappointingly easy. Don't get me wrong, it's (along with Shido and Sae) a top contender for the best bossfight but I found him to be easier than Yaldaboth and I used I.N.O.P (aka the most broken persona in the entire series) whilst fighting Yaldie on both my playthroughs. Considering how insanely powerful maruki is, I expected him to be harder and I was playing on mercyless. Tldr, I like when the difficulty of the final boss reflects how powerful the boss is in the lore which sadly isn't the case with maruki. It could also be that I only used ultimate personas for that section. If u wonder, those were Satanael (still not sure if he's the true ultimate fool persona or Arsene's 2nd awakening), Satan, Lucifer, Maria, Chi-you, Cybele, Alice and the ultimate Councilor persona which I forgot the bame of.
Godnicklol Gaming 1: Akane’s Shrine 2: Konoe’s Cybercity 3: Alice’s Wonderland 4: Okinawa Laboratory 5: Natsume’s Castle 6: Mariko’s “Arendelle” 7: The Tree Of Knowledge 8: Jail Of The Abyss Yeah Strikers finale kinda sucked I feel that Konoe would be a perfect ending and just write in Sophia’s arc into that
The cameras in the bank aren't really a problem. I mean, the correct way to play persona 5 is in the dark with the thief vision button taped down after all. Who needs visibility? XD
My ranking (based on gameplay. NOT STORY. CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH.): 9. Futaba (Best girl, almost best character if not for Ryuji and Akechi. Just not great palace.) 8. Kamoshida (Just played the start of the game so many times that it’s gotten so tedious.) 7. Maderame 6. Mementos Depths 5. Kaneshiro 4. Sae 3. Okumura (I don’t get the hate. I love it.) 2. Shido 1. Maruki
Fun fact if one of your party members has hunger doing the big bang challenge attack they actually get healed
Nice
Fun fact you just helped me to finish this boss
What? WHAT? WHAT!?
Cool and kinda funny
nice, i actually just beat the boss not knowing and had to guard + defense up
I love Marukis palace so much because it feels so unique. All other palaces seem to have their uniqueness to them but still follow a similar structure, but the final palace blew me away with how peaceful and calming it is. Someone a chaotic dungeon crawler managed to find a perfect balance between hostility and the calming, welcoming side of the palace. Top notch
I agree, and i only got past the storage room (2nd main room of the actual run) so far! Plus i love myself a tough challenge
The reason he was treated as a prisoner is explained it's because how joker views his heart or something along those lines
@@TLcool4 nope, the velvet room and the „rehab“ were both yaldis doing, not jokers mind creations. he even says „welcome to *my* velvet room“ instead of „welcome to the velvet room“, a small, but significant detail in hindsight.
@@V1G4M1 look at strikers and tell me that it is not Joker's doing
Okumura’s boss is one of very few bosses that almost made me rage quit
I worked in a Japanese office, and gameplay aside, Okumura’s meta-commentary on Japanese office culture is *mint*.
Fun fact: each of the palaces are themed after the seven deadly sins (along with two nontraditional ones). In order, they are:
Lust (Kamoshida’s Castle)
Vanity (Madarame’s Museum)
Gluttony (Kaneshiro’s Bank)
Wrath (Futaba’s Pyramid)
Greed (Okumura’s Spaceport)
Envy (Sae’s Casino)
Pride (Shido’s Cruise Liner)
Sloth (Mementos Depths)
Sorrow (Maruki’s Lab)
@@campbellhoffman2627I just thought Kaneshiro was gluttony because he's fat lol

Little hint for anyone about to enter the boiler room: don’t enter the boiler room unless you have full health and sp
I made this mistake once and it was brutal
get rekt.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE LOVES MADARAME’S PALACE! It’s my favourite in the base game maaaaaybe tied with Sae’s
kamoshida and maderame for me!
i hope persona 6 can give the perfect balance of each persona game, the relatability of the persona 4 cast, a story on the level of the persona 2 duology, the maturity of persona 3 and the premade dungeons of persona 5 along with all of the quality of life changes persona 5 royal had with an amazing soundtrack to top it all off (also i have yet to finish the first persona game so forgive me for not including something from that)
P1 is crying rn
And the nothing of persona 1 because that game is hot piss
i kinda changed my strategy when i hit Shido's and every palace after by using hypnomists. puts the enemies to sleep so you can run around and figure out where you're meant to be going then take on the enemies without having them ambush you first. it helped a hell of a lot
12:25
this is probable the funniest way I have seen someone discribe Kaneshiro.
let's be honest, is the meat circus even still one of the worst levels of all time anymore?
At 27:55 he literally predicted hollis’s level in psychonauts 2. Madlad
If I had to rank them
10: Okumura’s Space Port
9: Mementos
8: Kaneshiro’s Bank
7: Madarame’s Museum
6: Depths Of Mementos
5: Shido’s Ship
4: Futaba’s Pyramid
3: Kamoshida’s Castle
2: Sae’s Casino
1: Maruki’s Laboratory
I fully agree with this
Would switch Kamoshida and Shido but almost fully agree
8:59 this is an absolutely massive persona 4 spoiler that has absolutely no business being here without a warning
11:26 You can view the notebook pages under your key items tab.
Yeap
I was going to point this out too, lol
Shido= Directly or Indirectly caused all the shit that happened to the thieves
Yaldy boi= Some cup who made society lazy
Plus if the source of all human apathy is one Big Boi with gold, then the message is "Shoot god to make people try to do things" Like, take a dive into actual fucking societal problems that caused mass apathy, not just have be the machinations of an extremely generic villain with a million voice filters.
@@4zdragon ah. Shame it's done shittily
I feel like I'm the only one who likes depths of momentos
Unfortunately I think you misunderstood the reason behind Yaldaboth it’s not that he was just some random god that basically said fuck humanity the reason why Yaldaboth became that powerful was Joker and the thieves themselves because they kept changing peoples heart the people of Japan started relying only on the phantom thieves and not making decisions for themselves. That’s how he was able to have complete control over the masses of Japan. Also I don’t think he came out of nowhere from the very start you know somethings off about Igor especially his voice. Also who gave Akechi the meta nav app that’s right Yaldaboth. So yeah Yaldy’s pressence is throughout the entirely of the game.
and the separation of lavenza was also by yalda
Refreshing to see someone who hates that fucking cat as much as i do
The annoying gimmick where the robots run away was added for royal they made a meh fight horrible and the secret true ending of p4g which I guess you didn't get you actually fight a different god in it
The transition from P5 to P5R turned a fight that was horrible due to it being too easy into a fight that is even worse due to it being way too difficult and not in a good way.
I love it
i legit remembered watching your vids as a kid especially these obama saw games and now seeing you play a game of my fav franchise is like a huge blessing to me, like a good childhood youtuber playing p5r made me happy as hell
Guess it's class vs sass.
I haven't played persona but I heard great things about it so I'll the video.
How do you the video?
I actually nearly cried when I had to fight Aketchi after that hard ass fight. Managed to be him in one go but yeah that shit was nail biting. HOWEVER, I think that was kind of the point, I don't like it that much but I get why they did that. And damn is he a sad character at the end.

It would be interesting to see you do a ranking on the Jails in P5S
I am convinced Shido is a boat enthusiast
Let me guess okaumaru palace is last and royal new dungeon is first
Edit: call it, but have to said I was close on royal new dungeon being first.
Okumura last is where it belongs.
@@Dullsonic3 for me, I just said screw it and go merciless because ironic the weakness multiply is the easy version of that boss.
He mentioned in the beginning of the video that the bosses are from the Royal version of the game
Before playing the game, everyone told me that I would love Sae's palace and that I wouldn't like Kaneshiro's. But after playing throught, Kaneshiro's was probably my favorite palace and Sae's was one of my least favorites. (Gameplay wise)
Yeah, I’d honestly rather do all the other dungeons over sae’s place
Though i do agree that its somewhat boring and the boss is just ehh
The okumura boss fight i heavily disagree with cause personally the fights amazing.
God, did I disagree, but it’s also kinda nuts how we shared exact specific points. Well made vid regardless

maruki’s palace is honestly PEAK FICTIONNNN. i have so so much to say abt it and philosophical shit but ill spare yall
sae’s palace is a real close 2nd place, i just wish it was longer and had an alt theme (its the only palace with 1 theme, and i mean it fucking SLAAAPS but i get tired of hearing it for like 1-2 hours on most playthroughs)
Pointing out one thing in Okumura's boss for vanilla and Royal players: I WAS SO ANNOYED OF MARUKI'S DETOX CONFIDANT ABILITY

Just a little dumb thing you can do with Okumura’s boss fight is to use a gun amp (50% gun power) on Haru and Joker (if you’re able to have a persona with triple down), and go wild. It’s not perfect, and I still absolutely hate the fight, but hey it’s something
You know what. Yaldabaoth would be better if he had the same voice as Nyx Avatar from Persona 3

I played it. Wasn't that into the story or characters, but the battles had great music and visuals
Honestly didn't agree much with the rankings but it was still a pretty entertaining video 👍
Honestly, I like how Kamoshida wasn't connected to shido at all unlike the other rulers
Haha Myriad Truths go brrrr
Guess I'm in the minority of not liking Futaba's palace because of the Anubis' instant death ability and having no weakness.
Shiki ouji go brrr
Sae’s Casino is #1 for Whims of Fate alone
My ranking I guest?
9: Mementos Depths
8: Spaceship of Greed
7: Bank of Gluttony
6: Museum of Vanity
5: Cruise Ship of Pride
4: Casino of Envy
3: Castle of Lust
2: Pyramid of Wrath
1: Laboratory of Sorrow
Also, i know I’m really late to the party but; the group was also worried because the principal died and people were suspended it was the phantom thieve’s doing. So, Morgana getting pissy at them for not agreeing to go after Okumura just makes him look like an arrogant asshole.
Plus, the way his arc is framed; it just looks like he’s mad about Futaba taking his role as the Navigator, Especially when he didn’t make a big stink about Makoto joining the group.
I couldn't agree MORE
11:25 but you can check the notes again, just go to your inventory
Yeah that's what I had to do. Also idk if this is true or not, but I had to force myself to pay 30k yen total for the gold doors to open.
Yeah, I like that idea
@@Dafawfulizer Thank you, You’re video on Persona is very inspiring and fun. I love the way you handle the topics of your videos
24:46 Brice papenbrook voices too many characters in this game (Morgana human form voice)
My main complaints about Labratory of sorrow are,
1. There's a lot of backtracking (ik there's quite a bit of backtracking in Casino of envy too but it isn't nearly as bad)
Great list, here's mine
1. Maruki
2. Sae
3. Kamoshida
4. Futaba
5. Kaneshiro
6. Madarame
7. Depths of Mementos
8. Shido
9. Okumura
Can you do a persona 5 strikers palaces ranked if you buy that game
Godnicklol Gaming
1: Akane’s Shrine
2: Konoe’s Cybercity
3: Alice’s Wonderland
4: Okinawa Laboratory
5: Natsume’s Castle
6: Mariko’s “Arendelle”
7: The Tree Of Knowledge
8: Jail Of The Abyss
Yeah Strikers finale kinda sucked I feel that Konoe would be a perfect ending and just write in Sophia’s arc into that
Yeh and I knew Akane would be first place
I WAS NOT EXPECTING P4 SPOILERS but i’m not that upset tbh
My ranking:
10. *Mementos*
9. *Okumura's palace*
8. *Shido's palace*
7. *Kaneshiro's palace*
6. *The Depths of Mementos*
5. *Madarame's palace*
4. *Maruki's palace*
3. *Kamoshida's palace*
2. *Sae's palace*
1. *Futaba's palace*
I’ve only gone through 2 and just finished Madarame.
@@giggity6942 Not sure if you should be watching this video then lol.
The cameras in the bank aren't really a problem. I mean, the correct way to play persona 5 is in the dark with the thief vision button taped down after all. Who needs visibility? XD
I guess I didn’t mind anything in the okumura palace
Well, at least the gameplay part
9:02 Listen I don't love Yaldabaoth as a villain, but Ameno-sagiri "had a much cooler design"? Buddy it's a rainbow eyeball
Personally I think the Airlocks in Okumura's Palace weren't bad, quite the opposite in fact.
My ranking (based on gameplay. NOT STORY. CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH.):
9. Futaba (Best girl, almost best character if not for Ryuji and Akechi. Just not great palace.)
8. Kamoshida (Just played the start of the game so many times that it’s gotten so tedious.)
7. Maderame
6. Mementos Depths
5. Kaneshiro
4. Sae
3. Okumura (I don’t get the hate. I love it.)
2. Shido
1. Maruki
You can absolutely extort the hell out of mementos.... You can get so much money
RT did it and you know he is the gambling Man pffft 🤣🤣
Let's fricking GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I will fight to the death if it means convincing you that Maruki is number 1
