    I purchase my 2002 bugeye WRX manual new in 2003, sold it in 2008 but it was a car that I did regret selling. Move to 2015 and I was ready to purchase a new 2015 WRX but I was trolling through WRX's for sale online and there I saw the same year model, same color but I could only see the last 2 digits of its number plate, they matched my old 2002 WRX. I called the seller and found it was my old car so I purchased it and I still have it today. I love it

    This has got to be one of the best gen Imprezas ever with the EJ20-T engine, and it's literally impossible to find unmodified Imprezas anywhere on the road, because all the Imprezas I see are modified or souped up.

    I’m pretty sure I’ve got the unicorn in the country. Unmodified, bought new in late ‘01 when I was 40, west coast only driven, ‘02 silver WRX wagon with 74k miles and still looking sharp! It’s not a perfect car but I see nothing compelling to replace this fun and practical little analog buggy with its jaunty burble and eager boost.

    I had an automatic bugeye wrx for a while. Great car, never gave me any trouble (because I kept it stock). Couldn’t stand the automatic though. It just sucked all the fun out of it. But at the same time Subaru 5 speeds are fragile and finicky so you’re compromising either way.

    I actually just bought an 03 WRX Wagon with an automatic transmission. It’s completely stock which makes me very happy about it being a unicorn in the sense that you don’t find WRX that is stock these days. But at least on the launch like at a light or something I found that the car comes into boost around 3k and from a full stop if I power brake it and hold the revs at around 2k and then let off brake on green then just relax my foot into the throttle it really smooths out the turbo lag and makes the power get to the wheels faster

    Hey man, I’m thinking of buying a 2004 wrx wagon. Quick question, what’s the driving position like? I’m 6 foot 7 with an inseam of 35 inches. Do you thing I will be able to fit? 😂

    • @jamest4162
      @jamest4162 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a 2004 WRX wagon owner who stands at 5' 10" with a 35" inseam, the seating position is pretty awkward with the stock seats. I imagine you'd have a really tough time sitting in this car. My legs are always cramped with the steering wheel at the highest position, and the seating position doesn't really encourage holding the wheel at 9 and 5. I'm kind of grabbing the bottom of the steering wheel since the seat is so far back but my legs are maxed out lol. In fact, the top of my knees hit the plastic liner and so they're always sitting at a super weird angle. But I still absolutely love my car haha

    This wagon was sold pretty much for several more years in about the same body style with refreshes to the front. Surprising that you didn't make any reference to the bug eyes in the front. That is what made this first itineration of this wagon style so unique. At the time it was either loved or hated. This is absolutely the best front that this car had with the worst being the front that was shared with the Subaru Tribeca, probably the biggest failure in modern times for Subaru. Like the song that played during the commercial of its itineration, it is now dust in the wind. A suggestion is that you don't spend so much time on cup holders and talk about things that are a little bit more relevant

    • @hybridyd1305

      Zack does just fine. He reviews cars that his viewers can afford. And he's not leaving out "relevant" information just because he doesn't regurgitate the same shit that everyone else says. Not everyone needs to look at cars the same way.

      I disagree with you. He reviewed a first generation Honda Fit not long ago and left a ton of stuff out. He left out the differences between the sport model and the base model and completely ignored the magic seats which Honda made such a big deal about. I thoroughly enjoy his content but sometimes he spends way too much time on figuring out whether his large body fits in the backseat and his large bottle fits in a cup holder. And when did I say he should review cars that people can't afford? As a matter of fact sometimes he does so you stand corrected on that as well

    • @hybridyd1305
      @hybridyd1305 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hoover2501 the majority of his reviews are affordable, first off. And you can clearly see he's putting in work, doing multiple reviews a day. If you already know all those facts, then why do you care? Your criticism means nothing to someone who's alreadg doing well. Forget his size and the cupholders. He's doing him. He doesn't need to be Doug, David or all the idiots who are doing their reviews for views and money. If you feel the need to nitpick so much, maybe less time in front of a screen will do you some good. Go out and review the car yourself if you know so much about em. Plain and simple.

    I don't think I've ever seen one that wasn't blue. Yellow is a fun color on cars and more cars should be yellow. We're lucky Subaru bothered to make a new WRX but they should make a Crosstrek WRX. The Subaru faithful have been begging for a 5-door WRX.
    Mid-2000s Subaru radios often had weather band as an option. Even back then Subaru knew their customers would go on adventures and would need weather info.
    If you want to find a rare car, try finding a Saab 9-2X. GM did the weirdest partnerships and rebadges in the 2000s and the Saabaru was no exception. It's supposedly an even better driver than the WRX because of some suspension changes.

      As a owner of blobeye wagon, I'd love to see previous gen Levorg STI with EJ25 or current gen with FA24 and 6 speed manual. As proven in MCM series, all mechanical STI parts go into Levorg without any fabrication. Levorg chassis still has cutout for clutch pedal despite only being offered with cvt.
      I don't understand why they tried to make WRX looking like a crossover (and make it much less desirable for most of their current clients) while leaving Crosstrek without any performance trim (from working on older Subarus, I'd guess you'd be able to swap everything mechanical from WRX straight to the Crosstrek).

    They could not have moved the back seat even 1/4 of an inch because there are strut towers behind it. Do not forget that this platform was used for the sedan as well, and has a limited wheelbase. The wagon was really just an appendage to the rally car base. It is not great, but I found it to be adequate for what that vehicle is. Since then, Subaru lost it's touch completely, catering to the comfort complaints, having created a soft, quiet, and absolutely uneventful feeling 2022 WRX (all be it, fast. But there are plenty SUV's that are fast too). Even compared to the VA generation, let alone compared to the GD.
