As far as function....no. They both did the same thing. But for the Striker 4 you had to jerry rig a transducer pole so that you could keep it level as the transducer is meant for the back of the boat. Hope that helps.
Wife and I got both of these units. I actually like the colors on the older one a bit better even though the screen is smaller, but the ducer on the plus is great. I'm upgrading my ducer and will mount the other on an aluminum boat. Wife ordered fom Scheels so she kept the plus and I get the older model.
You can get a thru hall transducer for pretty much any garmin. They are a bit spendy. We also have no eye deer about those types of transducers. Batteries do come with them.

I bought a helix 7 and then bought the ice kit and I use it for my boat and for ice fishing. It’s a little spendy but it was worth it for the side imaging
Got a story for you guys. I have been reloading. . . a lot So when I ordered some more gear, in the spot for special instructions on the order I wrote "Please mark the box "Porn" so my wife doesn't know I'm getting more reloading stuff LOL" Then about a week later I get a call from the wife while I'm in Elk camp. The Wife; Why did you get a box that says "This is NOT porn" on it? Me; 😶 umm. . . . . well. . . . now look. She ended up thinking it was really funny (Thank God) But I did notice she was looking over my shoulder, when I got home and opened the box 😂
I was scrolling through videos and I almost switched to another video but about 30 seconds in I realized that one of them is drinking a beer. I don't know what the deal is with the lady claw, but I'll let it slide. When a man is drinking a Busch Latte while reviewing fishing equipment, you watch.

You can use the ice fishing transducer on both.
Yes. That is correct. But the plus is fully equipped for ice fishing, ie carrying case etc. But yes, you can use either transducer on both.

We say yes. It is worth it. However, you will not be disappointed in the sticker 4 especially if you want to use it on a boat.

One major difference you didn't mention is the the plus has quick draw and the 4 does not, this matters if you plan on going into back lakes.
