    How many people knew how to find the GPS accuracy before this video?

      Sweet feature! Trying to web search to figure out what is considered good signal strength and what is considered good accuracy. Haven't found anything yet, going to keep searching. My unit says 20.3ft for accuracy. I'm guessing that means + or - 20.3ft?

    I must comment. First your videos are incredibly professional. Your skill levels as an instructor are brilliant. Thank you so much for this series. I subscribed with notifications immediately after watching video 1. Considering the lack of written material that comes with the unit, this series is PRICELESS.

      @@1Cast1Fish I’m in total agreement with Damon Schouw. You’re videos are definitely professional quality and your presentation is well thought out! I am an old dude and have difficulty learning how to use all of the features available on my Garmin. How did you learn all of capabilities of the Striker 4? Garmin should give you royalties for being a master instructor; I’m sure they’ve sold plenty of units because of you!

    After watching Class #1 I found myself wanting to learn more and continued through the series about the Garmin Striker 4 Fish Finder. You are an excellent teacher! Why? You have an in depth knowledge of the subject, great presentation, you connect with students (us) and want/help us to be successful, you communicate effectively and make it easy to understand what we are learning and now I/we want to learn more. I thought the videos were by Garmin and was surprised to find these are your videos. I appreciate all you do! Garmin needs to pay attention to you. You should get compensated as you are a great instructor and making a huge impact on a topic many find intimidating. Thank you!

    I've been looking for a small, battery powered fish finder for my kayak. Thanks for the review. The Garmin Striker 4 does seem to be the best option. Even if I mostly fish in shallow ponds that are no more than 5 or 6 feet deep.

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a great tool, and can be very useful even in small or shallow waters, If you get the Plus or CV with quickdraw maps, you can map your ponds out with contour lines.

    I want to point out that, my striker 4 was in demo mode and wasn't giving me an actual signal from the sonar. Me knowing nothing about fish finders couldn't understand that even when I put in traditional mode, it just kept giving me demo mode. After 5 trips to the lake and it never would worked, I was ready to trash the whole idea of having a fish finder. I figured I am either stupid or there is something wrong with it. I have watched your videos and still no luck following your steps. I just figured out last night that the unit is in demo mode and needs to be turned off. Cant believe that Garmin didn't tell you that in the instructions. I never heard you ever mention that. I did reset it per your instructions but it would still never work. You might want to mention that in your videos. Demo mode needs to be turned off.

    These instructional series are outstanding, thank you so much for that. Maybe you can help, listing or pointing me on the right direction to find it: COMPATIBLE TRANSDUCERS for the garmin striker 4 plus. I just lost my transducer from my kayak ( and a few other things 😅... rough crazy waves) and I'm struggling to find the same garmin dual beam 4 pin 200w transducer that comes in the box.
    I'm not sure if any other 4 pin 500w will work... Thanks again!

    • @1Cast1Fish

      You should be able to call Garmin and they can point you in the right direction to order a new one. I think the Plus without the CV is the standard transducer, so shouldn't be to hard to find.

      It is very hard to make videos for such a broad audience that is why I try to mix it up. I have so many super basic questions, and some really in depth detailed questions. We all have to start somewhere and for most that is the beginning. Most questions I get are from people who never owned a fish finder before. In this series I am going in depth from the beginning to the end...basics to advanced features.

We have to take a train for two hours to get to the camp and the lakes. Does this fish finder work (mainly marking fish) without any satellite or GPS signal?

    Question: I’m trying to figure out how to change the scale on the waypoint map while in split screen.
    I’ve got the split screen (with the traditional fish finder and waypoint map split on one screen).
    When trolling in a small area I’d like to zoom in closer than what my map is currently at.
    I have the track on and would like to see where I’ve already traveled.
    The only way I’ve been able zoom is to use the add a waypoint button and then zoom in using the toggles while in the add a waypoint menu…BUT once back into the split screen it zooms back out to the scale where everything is so close to the boat icon, I cannot see the track.
    Thank you for your videos. I’ve learned a lot about this great little unit.

      Ok, so I believe I understand what you are trying to do....I think you need to change the active screen. (the one that your inputs operate) So.....from your combo screen, press menu and then select to change active screen.....should be the top 1 or 2 options....then make the map the active screen....should solve the problem.

      This is a short coming of 2D Sonar, the reason you don't see this covered, is because there is no way of knowing where the fish is 100% other than that it is within the cone. It is also why side imaging and 360 sonars are all the rage.

    Hello, I've never owned a fish finder, yet. But looking at the Garmin Striker 4, for my kayak or canoes.
    What initially confuses me is nothing is mentioned about powering such a device in the Garmin literature.
    Now adays when most portable device are all rechargeable (USB) one might assume its so with a fish finder like this one. But all the literature side steps any mention of the need to have an external battery, nor is there any mention made of simple ways to connect it to a lithium battery like say a 12v -18v drill battery. I contact Garmin chat and one of the reps said some folks use their drill batteries.
    Do you have any videos on how to power it for small water craft (kayak/canoe) that don't have a battery on board? Thank you, Steve

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds to me like the transducer mounting location is causing the transducer to lose contact. This is pretty common in faster boats depending on the mounting location. Any unclean water can cause this as the water is aerated and messes with the soundwaves. This is why many bass boat types or faster boats run an additional in hull transducer for at speed info. I lose my main transducer at about 35-40 mph if I did not have an additional in hull transducer.
      Now I could be totally off if this is a new issue that showed up recently on a old install, so more info may be needed to fully help.

    Just got a Striker Plus 4, I'm trying to figure out how to save my manual Range, Gain and Frequency manual settings for ice fishing. I get it all set the way I want it then when I shutoff the unit and restart it they all go back to Auto Range, Auto Gain, etc. I then have to go back in and change back to my manual settings. Is there a way to save these setting when powered off?

      Sorry for the delay, but I had to tinker with my units to see what may be going on...and shockingly I found the same thing, I guess the range and gain revert to AUTO settings when powered off. I tried to figure out a work around, but no luck. Learned something new myself from this.
