- Robert has spent more than 19 years with the United States Army, which all 19 years have been spent in the Special Operations community. Robert has conducted combat operations in numerous theatres of operation, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and other undisclosed countries. Starting his career with the Army Rangers and later joining the Special Forces, Robert is currently serving in a SMU where he has been for the last 10 years. Robert is also the Founder and CEO of Gamut Resolutions LLC where he is quickly becoming highly sought after for law enforcement training, corporate outings, and civilian classes where he specializes in Carbine and Pistol courses.

Purchased “The Bob Keller” carbine from SOT last year. Couple days after purchase Garrett from SOT contacted me and asked me if he could forward my contact to Mr. Keller. I said “Sure!” Well... received a wonderful email from Bob a day later. He is just a real class act and an expert at what he does. Eventually he followed up with me once I put in some work with the weapon (Incredible weapon... a tack driver right out of the box). I can’t begin to express how much it meant to me to have Bob contact me and see if the product was everything I expected.

I tell the same thing to people in EMS: the quintessential element of success when you're looking at a life & death situation, beyond the fundamentals, is your level of aggression to act. You have to GET IN THERE. You can know how to do CPR, how to manage an airway, how to start a line, but if when you look at a sick person, you're not willing to get started, you're a liability out there, you're in the way.

Just finished his class this week. Hands down the best rifle instructor I have ever trained with. Guy has an amazing resume to back up what he teaches. Learned more in a 2 day class with him than any other. I am on a tactical team and have been so for the past 6 years and know when to call bullshit. This guy is real deal. Hoping to get into his CQB school coming up as well.
Derrick SuggS there was an article about him where some former delta guys who served with him said he is one of the most elite commandos this country has ever produced. The article is from the sarasota herald. you can Google it.

I was a straight up leg. Mosul 04'. Clearing rooms with a strict adherence to the basics saved my ass. No flash. Just straight up Reagansburg MOUT.
As MG Gerry Boykin told my SFQC class, "SF are SF because they do the basics perfectly."

I respect this guy and would like to have him come to my place some day to train. He's 100% right... the basics are where it's at. I trained with Pat Mac... same thing, focus and master the basics. These type trainers are legit and not trying to sell some snake oil BS.
Signal-0 Productions Pat Mac seems to denounce "Ready-Up" drills in his book. Pat Mac's explanation makes perfect sense too.
I have Roberts DVD and I will tell everyone right now, this is by far the Best Instructor on carbine training. Most important fact that what he teaches works because #1 COMBAT PROVEN and it is not "theory", like Robert says " it is the foundation " meat and potato's" of learning to shoot a carbine rife the way it was meant to be deployed .

I am prior military and Law Enforcement so I know what I am sharing is correct, " if you cannot master the basics of the carbine ready-up drills you a surely setting yourself up for failure. When that time comes in your life when you have to use it to save your life or the life of others you had damn well know what you are doing.How to aggressively and smoothly manipulate that weapon in any given situation Accurately and in a Safe manner.

Just like any sport, playing an instrument, learning a language, or any other activity. Learn the fundamentals until you can't stand it anymore, then practice them twice as long yet again. Embrace the suck and enjoy the journey.
Gun up, sight picture, press trigger... perfect! Simplicity always wins in so many ways. Humans have a tendency to complicate simple systems that just work. Love this! This is true experience keeping it brutally honest. Majority of people don't spend enough time with the basics from the very beginning and the tacticool community is messing shooters up! Can't run unless you crawl before you walk first.
Badass, I cant wait to take a class from him. I appreciate his no BS approach. He is authentic.

Love this guy, nothing new, master the basic's in all you do, and you will get better and may master it, some day. You may never master anything, but will get better, improve your self and learn a lot about yourself. Just started Pat McNamara, combat fitness, training, thought I was fit, at 51 years old, weight lifting and sprinting, his mobility training, lateral movement, loosen up my mobility move like a cat.

Thanks for being the new generation. I am from the Vietnam era of training, based on the past experiences. I notice a lot has changed. From the way the rifle is held, to the tactics used. Fire and maneuver. We always were tied with supporting fires from the 60's, a mortar team to call on, or even artillery and air support. As a combined arms team we trained to coordinate fires I retired 2 years before 911. It looks like there is a lot more emphasis on the "one man" Army, or Army of "one". So please understand - what I am about to ask is from genuine curiosity that I dont comprehend. These two things drive me nuts. Why is it that for the last 15 years I see people train to stand up in their current position and do a magazine change as fast as they can? Believe me I have been shot at and the first thing I do is try to find cover or at least concealment to do a magazine change. I have always trained this way. Also everyone now just dumps their magazine on the the ground before they bound up to the next position. If you are doing a assault on a position that is 300 yards away you would not have a single magazine remaining to reload once you consolidate and redistribute the ammunition once the objective is taken.. Please anyone from this new era explain this to me. We often were far away from a supply truck to replenish the 7 magazines each man carried in the company. That is 700 magazines. Please I really am trying hard to understand these two things.
We do everything you did in your day, just a little bit more (as far as training). Yes we utilize cover for mag changes in far engagements. Call that a retention mag change. Either goes back into a mag pouch or into a dump pouch. Combat mag changes are for when no cover is available and the enemy is up close, face to face (think urban ops/CQB situation)
Also is your life worth a magazine? That's the thought process here

I’d very much disagree.
Ex-anything doesn’t mean very much in the big scheme of things.
None of their combat experience can be translated into experience for you.
This is the equivalent to being in a car accident, does that now make me a vehicle crash expert now?
It’s a two part system.
Experience cupeled with knowledge the thing.
No rocket scientists in space but astronauts trust their lives to them and their knowledge.
Just because someone’s been in combat doesn’t mean they knew what they were doing, did it well or weren’t just lucky.
Going forward I’d recommend not buying into the “I’m special forces so I know more stuff” and look what the person is actually teaching.
I got to train with Pannone when I was on active duty years ago. I think it was like 00' or 01'. He came and held a two day demo course for us regular infantry grunts. It was the best two days of training I've ever had.
He was already missing his eye and touched a bit on how he lost it. It was an honor and a privilege for me to rub shoulders with the best of the best.

Great video, info right on point. As former military and current senior admin LEO (22 yrs OTJ, and Firearms Instructor) its difficult to get necessary range time other than mandatory training and qualification it's up to each individual officers to have the initiative to train on their own. I buy plenty of extra Ammo for them to train with. I try to encourage them to even run dry training at home, (when no ones home) such as practicing clearing techniques and standing in front mirror and practice drawing their weapon, utilizing what ever cover they have, mainly just to try to keep them thinking. Is there any idea for training that you may have away from the range?
pd2210 there's alot of computerized laser training devices available that would be ideal for "dry" training enviroments. Especially for younger officers that grew up with video games. Friendly competitions of drawing speed and accuracy has motivational potiential.
pd2210..... I bet you find mostly what I did.....very few people want to train. They say they do, but finding a training partner that is reliable is almost negligible.
3 months of dry fire everyday when going into delta school. Dry fire everyday day, it's that simple.

I've never seen anyone putting the support hand that far out on the barrel toward the muzzle. Can you explain why this is preferable to holding it near the mag well? Where did this come from?
I'm glad he said that about imagining the cardboard shooting back. When I shoot I'm always seeing a dude instead of a cutout ready to kill my ass. It puts you in a warrior mindset for lack of a better term... No doubt you will be a better shooter.

Combat Infantryman US Army 23 years. The BASICS are the key.. without a GREAT foundation on these... everything else is just crap. Train like you fight.
You should set up Paint ball guns directed by a sight sensor to fire back at the shooter when they are shooting the targets . They will probably be hit more often than they think not

It’s a reason we don’t teach that high grip anymore . CQB, even urban terrain streets alleys large compounds. When you have that high left arm peripheral vision down to the left. you can’t see nothing a tripwire, grenade or any type of explosive device even a person hiding rubble. We also don’t teach pacifically stationary no gunfight know where you are stagnant you’re constantly moving forward on to the side or backwards. Staying still will get you killed.

Why do people go into a situation where they might have to fire with safety on and finger off the trigger?
You train to keep your weapon on safe until you have a target in your sights. Shooting in CQC with teammates if you need to transition behind another guy to reload you should put it on safe.
Yup that's me, an average everyday guy with a rookie shot, but I have big balls.
I have taken his class last August, it was an absolute game changer. The feeling was shared by the rest of the class, composed mostly of LE/SWAT guys.

If you think you're too much of a beginner for this, you're probably not. As long as you have a basic understanding of firearms safety and operation, Bob will get you squared away with pretty much the best foundation for your training you could wish for.
If you're intermediate or stuck in a training plateau, this class will kick your ass into the next gear.
If you think you're too shit-hot for an “intro” class...you're not. The drills you'll do will absolutely challenge your standards of speed, accuracy and efficiency, ultimately making you a better shooter with your primary and secondary.
Bob has a zero threshold for hype, ego or bullshit theatrics, in an industry where those often sell.
Like Bob says, he's not there to make friends. You WILL BE by the end of the class, as he is extremely approachable and personable. But ultimately, this is about saving lives and learning WHAT WORKS.
I'm going with Clint, TMAC or John. When they communicate, they get to the point.

I was pondering the same thing when I read the description . I was pondering what SMU they were referring to.. I of course thought "the unit" or the special activities from Langley .. Didn't figure that CIA would sign off on a video and a company but to be honest even "the unit " exemplifies The silent professional moniker .. Almost a redundant amount of silence and opsec .. The boys from dam neck are too busy writing books and doing interviews and being video game consultants on active duty .. I went thru BRC at Little creek in 2001 so I should be Biased in favor of Dev Gru but who am I kidding "the unit " is where it's at ..
He could be a training NCO with a SMU getting ready to retire. Hence why he is able to make videos and start his own training company. You don't have to be a critical skills operator to be with a SMU.

Not gonna lie, although he's an animal and an expert, his stance is so tight and stiff, his mobility has to suffer. Leaning forward like that tenses up your core and walking around like that is just a big no. Guess that's an habit from the older days, it's what they would call or describe as the tactical stance, but mobility takes a blow when you lean forward as much as he does.
Probably a victim of years and years of repetition of what nowadays wouldn't be advised.
Again, the man is an animal and definitely an expert on the matter of gun handling, but nowadays, movement is very important too. Hate to say anything in a negative tone about anyone who has served his country, but people do need to be aware that even the most experienced guys can have bad habits, or be victims of their own training and repetition in ways that they used to train back when they served.
Tu Lam has explained that concept very very well (also a green beret).
Good points. You see him in person, he moves like a cat. And this absolute mastery of recoil control translates into really fast & accurate controlled 2’s 3’s 4’s 5’s etc.
