- Ace Frehley looking back on KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. Ace has a really positive and campy attitude about the whole film and the experience working on it. Watch him crack up recounting stories of the film 40 years later.

Ace Frehley Hilarious Interview On KISS Meets the Phantom 40 Years Later
"you're only as sick as your secrets..." Ace droppin some legit program wisdom
Aces laugh never fails to cheer me up
If i could hang with any member of kiss, it would be Ace. He is the coolest.
Indeed
Was so cool when he’d wrap his car around a tree driving hammered drunk. Cooler even when he couldn’t play the national anthem
@@jigawho still kooler than what Paul Stanley smokes behind closed doors...😆 ace!
@@isaacshaver6218 Dimebag was more cool and he’s dead. You aren’t cool cause you’re here. That’s your logic
@@jigawho what the fukk are talking about? It sounds like your replying to the other guys comment, but neither one of us mentioned dimebag and Paul Stanley is still alive an probably smoking a pole as we speak 😉
Ace is just a pure R&R legend. I am not one to crap on Tommy, he's earned his place, but Ace had this inimitable stage presence that can't be duplicated.
@SirJames917 - Tommy and Eric definitely look horrible in the makeup
I agree, I have nothing against Tommy. He’s a great guitarist and he is a nice guy, but he is not him.
Tommy is a great guitar player but, he's earned his place??? I don't think so
At the time of this movies release, I was seven years old and a huge KISS fan.
I thought it was the greatest movie ever!
I love his laugh.
I still remember how the KISS cards smelled. Way different from sports cards. But yeah..I was same age and same huge fan at the time..
I was 12 and had been a major fan since Dressed to kill came out! I cannot believe i have been aware of these guys
for over 50 years now! Them and the Stones astonish me as far as longevity goes!
@@caseybrown4360 I had the cards too! a complete set and I still remember the day the Comic book was released! I got a copy that day!
I was about 14, and thought it was the greatest thing ever.
You and me both! 7 and so excited to see it.
I even remember the looks my parents gave each other while watching it... Exactly what you'd expect, lol... It was great!
Honestly Ace has sounded pretty sharp in interviews lately. Talking way faster and more coherently than 10 years ago.
You can't help but like this guy! He's real!
He is Hilarious Curly! AKK! 🤣
Definitely.
I remember being so excited to see this on tv back in the day..
I could listen to Ace laugh all day!!!
Out of the 4 autobiographies, his one is the best followed Peter Criss. I gave up on Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley blames everyone but himself. Paul, kinda hinted he hired inferior members because he didn't want to be better than him. He said that Mark St John couldn't play the thing twice but still hired him.
I'm not a huge KISS fan but I love Ace. The guy is a joy to listen to and his laugh is the best.
Same here. I like his guitar playing too. Not a virtuoso but plays cool sounding stuff, which, to me, is more important than being a virtuoso.
"Akk!!" Is my favorite line in the whole movie lol 😂 😂😂😂!!!!!
Starchild: "What do you compute Space Ace?"
Space Man: "Insufficient data at this time, Starchild."
@@omarvillarreal3850 They should have written in a follow up line where Ace could have had a chance to sound more sci fi-ish like: "I'm ready for a new computation" something like that 😎🎶😉🖖🎸
Ace and his laugh...LOL! Gotta love him.
I always loved his laugh!!! 😄🥰
i’m in hysterics
when he chuckles..
PRICELESS.!
😉😁
✌🏻🇦🇺🌏🤘🏻
@@mariag4677Me too😂
It's hard to believe that the original KISS lasted as long as they did with two ultra serious straight laced businessmen and two hard core party animals.
Thanks to the businessmen.
Not businessmen, businessman. Gene wanted to control everything and Paul went along with whatever Gene wanted. Ace was just a rock star acting like a rock star, and Gene didn’t like it.
Do you mean two Jews?
Ace will always be my favourite he's so funny and he's laugh is hilarious
I have always been an Ace Frehley fan and I like him now he admits his faults and can laugh 😂 about it and he sees Gene and Paul for what they are which is businessmen and he is a musician that’s still putting out music and if we can believe Gene and Paul they are finally quitting! Tommy and Eric should have had to come up with their own characters instead of using Space Ace and The Catman!
😂😂🎉🎉🎉👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"I'd have been pissed if it was me, but I know how to speak...even though I'm from the Bronx! Peter was just loaded as me, so he probably didn't even know." - Classic Ace.
Remember their albums? The fold out posters!!! Live pictures! Buying the vinyl records was such a cool experience!
The Love Gun cardboard pop gun. I was never a Kiss fan, but my cousin was, and he had everything Kiss back in the old days.
I was 15 and stoned on Red Dragon blotter LSD, and this movie made total sense and was fantastic. That I remember, maybe.
That would have been soo funny .. love it
All due respect, I am giving you the Ace laugh!!! Awesome story
That’ll do it💪🏻
This is one of Ace's most lucid interviews. He sounds great and very sharp!
I was GLUED to the tv on that night in October 1978
Ace is truly a legend
I remember watching it on television when it debuted.
I had to watch it on a black and white TV. my parents wouldn't let me watch it in the living room.
In Black and white?.....jimminy crickets!
Ace's laugh is GOLDEN!
I believe my favorite line by Ace was when he said Beethoven's fifth, and then that crazy laugh comes out.
I love the story that Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson tell about how much they loved to make Ace laugh. Alex would dress up as "The Bag" and Ace would laugh uncontrollably.
How can you not love ACE? AHK!🥰
Don't ever lose that laugh, Ace!
There was just one rock and roller in Kiss. Paul and Gene are businessmen & showmen. Peter was a closeted doo-wopper / balladeer. Ace was (and is) true rock and roll. He was the secret weapon that made the first seven studio albums THE enduring classics. Very cool that he survived his wild days with liver and laughter intact.
If anything, Ace might very well have the best laugh in rock n roll
"...but I know how to speak" biggest flex ever lol 😂😂 😂
For Ace it was always more about playing rock music and living the rock lifestyle, not running a corporate business. He could as easily have been a Ramone as a member of Kiss. But he has sobered up and made a go of having a solid solo career.
Ace IS and he will ALWAYS BE pure dynamite!!!! Way to go, Space Acé!!!!!
No substitutes....
Yeah is is really insulting and infuriating to see Tommy Thayer in ACE's make up and costume!!!
Ace and Peter the two superpowers in Kiss
Ace made the band over the top superstars.
I remember 11 year old me rushing home from a Halloween carnival to watch this movie on tv.
Absolutely love this! I always think back to watching this on vhs as a kid I loved the movie just like ace said! If you’re a Kiss fan you’ll like the movie
As a 12yr old kid in '78 I loved that movie! Of course my walls were covered in KISS posters.
I have the movie twice on VHS, 3 times on DVD. Watched it the night it aired. Love it
Ace is a complete riot!! He can laugh at himself at things he has done in the past. A lot of fans can connect to him. Yeah I love his ,laugh.
Even in the 70's he was having fun in the interviews. Gene and Paul look pissed off at him, which makes it more funny to watch. It's like he saw KISS as a band not a business brand it became.
it gave us GenX fans a first glimpse into KISS, besides the albums and magazine pics.
Very underrated player and I remember him being the favorite member among the older teenage rock n rollers back in the 70s. Ace sorta embodies the fun/campy and lighthearted side of the band, yet had musicianship and great guitar licks.
Ace is my favorite member of KISS
ACK!!! I'll never forget "Rip, Rip.....Rip and Destroy!!!"😅🤣🤣😂😅
Ace had the Best Kiss solo album... Rip, Rip, Rip and destroy was way better than any song on the other 3 solo albums.
I still have the VHS of this movie that I bought in Sam Goody back in the 80's. I also have it on DVD. Is is absolutely a cult classic and I remember watching it on TV.
Sam Goody. Now I KNOW I'm getting old.
@@keltrepes2534 Yup. You and me both. 😄
@@katr7969 I haven't been to one of those in well over 22 years.
@@keltrepes2534 They were bought out years ago and most stores became FYE.
“We’re only as sick as our secrets”
Ace always was the real rocker in KISS. The true musician.
ACE and PETE were KISS! once both of them left i lost all interest on the band!
Eric Carr wasn't a bad drummer either !
I love Ace but I feel like this is an interesting take because Gene, Paul, and Peter were very competent musicians in their own right; all four were a perfect combination! Ace 100% is a real rocker though, I agree!
He was my neighbor in the mid 90’s small town in northwest CT.
I doubt he knew it. Met him and Peter at tuxedo junction back so many years ago. Great guys !
From u.k.
Seen em a couple of times, what a character!
Not taking the whole thing serious!
Love it ACE!
What a time he must have had!
love that ace does not hate it, he thinks it was fun, he embraces the movie's campiness.
I saw the movie in 1978 i loved it then and i still love it now
It was perfect for the time...big part of Kisstory .Rock on!!
I could listen to Ace's stories all day. Thanks bro!!
Most honest reply from Ace about his time with the band.
Years ago Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter should have done an official re-release with them doing hilarious commentary throughout.
Gene hilarious??? Umm....not a thing.
I loved it as a kid most of us did I think. Love Rocket Ride! Ace is the best…🍻
Glad I got to see them in the reunion tour in 1996 at the Columbia Coliseum in Columbia South Carolina.
Chick: There was a lot of fights in that movie.
Ace: Yeah, luckily nobody got hurt.
😂
What Ace is trying to tell everybody is have fun because life is short and have no regrets.🤪🤟
Greatest movie ever made. People need to give it the respect it deserves! Peace.
I watched that movie at age 11 in 1980 when it came to small German theaters. I loved it for the fact that it had KISS in it. Did not care about anything else.
Ace loved partying with the guys in Rush
"wow, that was weird." Ha. Ace Rules!
Gotta love Ace! Ack!!!
If I remember correctly, Ace's stunt double was a black guy named Alan Oliney. Love the movie!
I still watch the movie now and again. The night it came out I was at an outdoor Halloween party and went inside to watch the movie when it came on.
G.I. Joe voice actor, Michael Bell dubbed Peter's dialogue for those who don't know
ha! nice!
I love Ace! When that movie came out I was a huge KISS fan. I remember a bunch of us gathered over at one friend's house to watch it; after the movie I was beyond embarrassed to say that I was a KISS fan. Dynasty came out, I love the Ace tunes but that was the end of KISS for me.
Me too, after Dynasty I left the army, still luv all the stuff before that
Dynasty best album
I remember watching this movie around Halloween 1978, I was 7. I haven’t seen the movie since but I found it amazing back then.
You gotta love ace he's like Scott Gorham or micheal denner just enjoying the ride and unique as h e 🏒🏒
Ace admits his addictions that's why he got sober
The movie is cheesy fun. I still have my VHS tape.
Ace was the one that made kiss a rock n roll band. Ace is and always will be a freakin legend
"I was loaded through half the movie." LMAO! 😂😂 Ya' gotta love Ace, man.
Ace is The Epitome of Rock & Roll \m/
Ace is a riot! I named my chihuahua Ace.
That was on my BIRTHDAY. And for my last present of my birthday my dad left me watch this movie. KISS FOREVER
That laugh!!!😄
Ace was loaded through half the movie? I'm pretty sure he was loaded through the ENTIRE movie.
and the entire 70s, 80s, 90s, and so on.
Ace is real. We love this guy!
Still love to watch that movie every Halloween!!
I remember watching this when I was six and I loved it, it’s so 1970s
There’s a reason they brought them back for reunion tour. Paul and Gene were spent. Ace n Peter saved their ass. Aces searing vibrato solos and Peters swing drumming. The sound that created them in the first place. Older kiss fans will know
I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH IT'S INSANE🤣🤣🤣
Yea. It was great to watch this. Basically. Because I had the "KISS" "ARMY" patch on a Levi jacket, wearing it I remember while watching this movie was absolutely mind blowing. ( Edited) still got the KISS Army patch, but not the Levi jacket. It went as a hand me down to cousin of mine, and I definitely removed my patch before I gave him jacket, had to.
Honestly and people are probably going to hate on me for saying this but if it wasn't for Ace frehley being in kiss kiss would not have been kiss!🤘⚡⚡
Ace Frehley has to be the most honest man in that band..lol
Ace is a beast!!!
"And they've got guns"
I loved that movie. It was Kiss, on TV, in a movie. It was awesome in 1978.
Yup it was
Ace is the man
How could you not like that guy, he’s one of a kind
Me & My friends are all B Grade movie fanatics & We all rate Phantom highly & find it very entertaining & hilarious as.
Fun fact, Peter's dubbing was none other than Duke himself, the legendary voice actor Michael Bell. One of the greatest of all time.
For years I didn't know he played Zorn on the first Star Trek the Next Generation episode Encounter at Farpoint. Then he went on to play 2 more characters on the spinoffs DS9 (Drofo Awa and Borum.
And Drew Pickles
Michael Bell was the voice of one of the Wonder Twins on the Superfriends cartoon, and he played the Guru on an episode of Threes Company
@pulsarlights2825 and the dance instructor who almost gets Janet to quit the flower shop, and the souvenir seller on MASH, whom Margaret beats up.
Hi was also the I’m a pepper, you’re a pepper Dr. Pepper guy.
After all KISS has done & gone through it's Ace who turns out to be the classiest guy in the group 🤔.
Totally agree although the Gene and Paul kool aid drinkers will probably get upset by it ,it's a bitter pill to swallow sometimes but you speak the truth for sure.
Wow .. that was weird
Love ya Ace!
I knew right away that they dubbed Peter’s voice. It was the same person that is the voice of a Hanna Barbera cartoon character. Can’t think of which one it is.
The dubbing was obvious the minute Criss said "I'm smarter than the average bear."
I was at the concert scene filming in May 78……played hooky that day and saw Ace tapping on his fret board…a revelation on the just released VHI album.
Ace will always be the SOUND and heart of kiss
Ace is the best guitarist kiss will or ever had or have.
Love you Ace!
I watched this on VHS back in 70's then on DVD. The guys were so hilarious even to watch it now. They remind me so much of Power Rangers. Ace's laugh has always made me laugh with him. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Ace
I’m not the biggest Kiss fan at all, but I always loved Ace. I thought he was fun and funny. If you’re going to dress up like this to play rock music you gotta have a sense of humor! Paul and Gene took it all way too serious. I bought Aces 7” of Back In The New York Groove. That was the only Kiss related vinyl I really wanted. 😂❤ 👽
Ace is awesome. That laugh
