    Better quality video planned soon, however, for the time being, I hope this helps! ^_^
    ~ just a quick note to let you all know that I no longer run the mylittlecustom website as it now has a new owner however, these tutorials will be staying online and I am happy to still answer any question you guys have about rerooting! Robin xx

    I re-rooted my 1st doll and it was BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the tips!

    I use a small crochet hook and scrape that around the inside of the head and use tweezers to pull the clumps out, as well as the stubborn plugs and stray hairs...much quicker than using just tweezers.

    @earthentitymp a regular large eyed needle would work absolutely fine! The special doll needles are great as they are long - perfect for akward long necks or hard to reach places but there is no need to buy some if you find a sewing needle works just as well :) I hope that helps! x

    @missparisnite heya - Tonner dolls are a notorious pain in the behind to reroot!!
    The main advice is to keep the head warm whilst you reroot - heating the head will soften the vinyl making it easier to work with and lessens the risk of splitting the holes. It can be done but is difficult which is why most people tend to opt for wigs for Tonners LOL
    Good luck!!

    Thank you, this was very helpful! I may be able to help some of the poor "bad hair" Barbies and dolls that my daughter has. :D All I need is a long darning needle now. Thank you for showing all the methods, I didn't know there were so many different ways and it kept getting easier and faster, too.

    Can this knot method be used for nylon hair? Also, must we glue the inside to secure the knots after we finish with the re-rooting? Thanks!

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @Megantan8 its totally up to you, experiment and find out what works best for you - I personally like to do the part line and thatching first, then work from the top down but you can start at the bottom if you prefer! There is no right or wrong way to start a reroot :)

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  13 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @AbbyTheZombie you can use real hair yes! It can be a little tricky to work with as it is much more brittle than synthetic hair but I have seen some beautiful human hair reroots in the past :) With hard headed dolls, you can warm them with a hair dryer or use hot water to soften the vinyl a little so it is easier to work on.

  • @itsmeyourdad
    @itsmeyourdad 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'd say it depends on the hair. something like mohair or alpaca doesnt work so well with the lock and loop method but better with the knots, in my experience. Simply because the fibres arent as long as saran or nylon. If you're using nylon or saran its probably personal preference at that point.

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    it is personal preference really! What type of doll / toy were you planning on rerooting?

  • @mylittlecustom

    Girl OMG....I am trying to re-root one of my tonner dolls, anyway his head is really hard and the hole are very small....I thing it could have been done by a machine....Do you have any tips for me, or do you no where I can get thin yet srong needles?

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    it should work in Ken dolls too! Does your doll have a particularly hard head? x

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Megantan8 it might do, however, it is an easy fix. You can style it afterwards using water :) Smooth the hair down and give it a blast of hot water, followed by a blast of cold to set it and then leave to air dry overnight. (I hope that makes sense! )

  • @OrnisApiens

    I've seen yarn being used instead of kanekalon for rerooting doll hair. It makes some really funky looking dreads. But I wonder if it's more difficult than using kanekalon.

    This is the method that I used in the 1970s and 80s, and I can attest that it's just the best all-around method. I had 3 of the Sindy dolls. Many jokes about it in my family, as my name is Cindy. :D :P

  • @mylittlecustom
    @mylittlecustom  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @jadeishere101 I have not seen a Monster High in person (only online and they are awesome!) but if you can get her head off then YES! Any doll can be rerooted :) They take a long time, several hours at least!
    You can buy the hair & needles from specialist websites including my own (search for "My Little Customs" and you will find me!) - you would need around 2 - 3 packs of hair. I hope that helps! xx Robin xx
