    I came to the comments to make a comment, but it looks like many others have already said what I was about to say! I fully understand the maturity and professionalism about not mentioning the "culprits", but unless you got this truck for a price you can't say no to, I believe you should try to return it. Just to make the auction house think twice next time, plus maybe cause some tension between the auction house and the seller/rebuilder.
    Otherwise, as you said, if you make a few repairs and make the truck right, this truck will get scarfed up in no time, I'm sure. They're very desirable now, as you know!
    PS. Kudos to you for not trying to pass it on as is.

    That’s something one would do to ‘fix up an old beater’ that you’re going to actually drive and use. To try and pass it off as a ‘frame of restoration’ is beyond ridiculous and shady. As one who has been in the old car industry since high school, I’ve seen plenty of stuff that is like this and when I’ve sold them, I let the buyer know EXACTLY what they’re getting, a cool old ride that you can do some finish work to and make it even better. But I never could sleep at night trying to pass off junk as a restored ride.

      That’s one of the reasons for our detailed videos we feel like it helps the customers tremendously seeing what they’re getting. We also put a lot of faith in people actually representing Vehicles properly though and that’s the side of this one that is so wrong and we see so much of it happen, we are typically able to catch it, but it catches a lot of others their pants down unfortunately

      It’s the bane of the industry. It really gives those who actually give a crap a bad rep because of sleazeballs who are just out to make a quick buck.
      For 25 years I’ve done paint and body work. I’ve seen so many people get ripped off by some charlatan with a lipsticked pig for a vehicle. Heck, I beg people to just take me with them to look at something just so they don’t get ripped off, I’ve just seen it happen so much I feel bad for folks who just don’t know what to look for.

      I've just got to go ahead and say it if the auction house didn't catch half of what is not underneath this truck one they need to be trained to spot them, and two they really shouldn't be selling cars to our general public like the mecum legit 69 vette 427 story about got a Fairlane rust bucket it's on one of your comments that story is say needs to be heard as well as a form of education for people in the car community or some that doesn't know much about it just wanted a decent classic car but not astronomical price...see where I'm going with this jw and for reference the bondo truck i just mentioned i gave almost $900 for that piece of junk

    I mean if it was just a guy fixing up his truck and not a professional he did a good enough job,looks like a decent driver..When I was 16 I thought I did a awesome job but if I would see them now I probably would cringe...The problem is the auction company mislabeling the truck...then again auctions are auctions,I have seen junk go for $90k before!
    I am into Mopar and you see so many so-called restored and they are worse than this truck! Missing trim,crappy done interior with parts missing and total junk..1/4 panels wrong and engines rebuilt with performance parts and they are slower than a smaller stock base engine etc..etc..

From your short walkaround, I see less than 400$ in parts needed, with the time and know-how that would have yielded a 40k truck. no excuses for not adjusting the bed correctly, replacing pedal pads, ALL bushings, a weekend under the hood, my god...can just keep going. buff and wax. • @DavisDrives

      Maybe one day we will but it’s not the important part as making people aware this happens every single day. We see so much junk that people pose as prizes it’s unreal. Just want others to know to look twice or have a educated shop check it before buying it

    • @ArtJohnson-c1y
      @ArtJohnson-c1y 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DavisDrives actually it is important for people who want work done or a vehicle restored and don't want to be swindled out of there hard earned money for shops that respect the vehicle owners as you do. It is important however I do understand how not wanting to blast another shop for maybe 1 or 2 mistakes the mistakes you showed should not be acceptable especially the safety aspects .

    I feel you. That's 90% of our bread and butter. Shit bought at auction. We have had 4 squares in the past year, 2 from auction, 2 from other shops. One had 6 dead mice in the overflow tank, another needed the whole drivetrain rebuilt. They were all restored, frame off.

    This truck was converted to single tank. Where they had that 1500 badge glued to the dash is right where the selector switch would be. I'd rather drive a square that was looking more like swiss cheese than this one. And as much as I hate to say this but this one would be better off as a parts truck at this point. Something else I noticed is it looks like the left rear is farther forward than the right rear unless the bed is twisted to the left.

    Why didn't they just use a 2 or 3 inch body lift on it to even everything out the body line? A whole set of poly bushings are cheep and everything is easy to install on square body. Wish I had it...but that's probably what it'd look like when I was done.

    • @williamyoder2033
      @williamyoder2033 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Replacing the bushings alone would level it more. If you have to use a body lift to hide fitment issues/stance, opens a can of worms, everything else wrong would be glaring

  • @kalybnielsen4183

    I want to know how in the heck they even got the tailgate out of alignment. So they did a frame off restoration and reused all the old bushings? Glue a "1500" emblem over where the gas tank selector switch was? Definitely a shame to put that money into it and do a half-assed job
