why are there different layers like what do the layers represent when drawing?

Layers means that you draw different elements on different layers (like pages). Layer 1 might have the eye, level 2 the lips, so when you want to edit the eye layer (e.g. color correction) these changes won’t affect the lip layer. At the same time, the higher the layer, the more visible it is. That means, if you draw a something on layer 1, then on layer 2, whatever elements from layer 2 are on top of layer 1, will hide layer 1 elements
