Debateable. Both Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers are both performers that would be at Bruce's singing _and_ performing level.
@@chrisgonzalez4414 : Bruce. Modern-day "artists" have a feel about them that's fake, as if it's done more for the money, than for the fans. Other than Eminem, Tom MacDonald, and maybe Jelly Roll, I don't really know of any rap or hip-hop performer that does what they do, because of the fans.
@@isaiahwelch8066 that was the meaning of the post, I don't know of any other lead vocalist that can say I survived throat cancer and still preform at such a high level
"Who needs 3 guitarists" It's actually wholesome AF. They're the guitarists from different eras of the band, who always found their way home. Instead of rejecting them or booting someone, they just added more talent.
Melisa, you need to react to Queensrÿche. Geoff Tate much like Bruce Dickinson, is an incredible singer, with operatic vocals. I recommend their liver version in Japan of “Take Hold of the Flame.”
It also really helps when the band is playing live and they're playing songs that on older albums had rhythm guitar plus twin guitar harmonies. Now they can actually perform that a little closer to the album and not have to worry about the rhythm guitars dropping out during certain parts.
Bruce Dickinson is a truly amazing guy. Not only a fantastic vocalist and front man, but also a commercial airline pilot, a historian and novelist and an expert fencer. Truly a man of may talents. I would recommend "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". My personal all-time favourite Iron Maiden song, with lyrics based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem.
"All I remember was monks...in a cave..." ....'Can I Play with Madness' said every Maiden fan before you could finish. These guys are still as impressive on stage in their late 60's (Nicko McBrain (drums) is 70) as they were 40 years ago.
I just saw Iron Maiden (3rd time) last year and Bruce and the gang are still running around like the first time I saw them in 1982. They sound the same as back than too. Up the Irons.
Me too. Got to see them live front row on this last show. They haven't missed a beat and are all in their 60's now. They went crazy and we had a blast!
Bruce is not only the best Iron Maiden singer, but arguably the best heavy metal singer of them all! My favorite song is: "Hallowed be thy name"; but other greats are: "The Trooper"; "Aces High" or "Sign of the Cross".
That Santiago crowd was on fire! I've seen Maiden about 10 times and there's always a sense of audience comradery. You get generation X, millennials, generation Z, all coming together for the highlight of their year. Everybody is just stoked to be there, bonding with random strangers over their love for Iron Maiden, knowing that this beautiful gift from the universe can't last forever.
In short form, Iron Maiden have 3 guitarists because one left the band in 1990 and Bruce brought in the guitarist from his solo projects. Then the original guy came back and the band didn't think it was right to kick anyone so just rolled with 3 guitarists going forward :)
If you love a Crowd that sings with the Band, you have to Listen to Blind Guardian The Bard's Song. Best Live from Wacken 2016 in my Opinion (also I was there). Also Valhalla right after Bard's Song. Legends say, we are still singing
I guess you’re right. I promise after releasing the next vid I will make an effort to listen to the solo and give my limited analysis. Just for the sake of being balanced 😊
Nice reaction - dont think you should skip solos thou, us, the fans of the music, want to listen to all of it and see also your reaction to parts that are instrumental only. Please consider in upcoming Maiden reactions :) Oh and maybe react to Maiden, Dance of Death - Live version
Yeah I like your reactions but really a song is a total of all its parts. Focus on the vocals but people enjoy seeing the whole thing. Agree to rally with you needing to check out Jinjer. The one take vocal performance of Judgement and Punishment is perfect to see her technique.
Maiden one of the best bands ever, their music, lyrics and energy are just legendary. Not even young bands have this energy. Fear of the dark is epic, the chilling lyrics, the temp change just fantastic
The highlight from this show (En Vivo) has to be The Talisman. Not the most visually entertaining of their live performances as Bruce stays pretty much grounded the whole time as you can hear he's not only pushing his voice to the limit, but absolutely knocking it out of the park! It's out of this world. An absolute must hear. You absolutely have to check it out, even if it's just for your own pleasure off camera
As for Maiden ... I saw them in the mid 90s on a metal festival in Denmark. And I thought by myself - MAN, these old dudes still rock it! Well, and a few decades later, they are still around! Dang! Live acts are always amazing.
Judging by your reaction to the singing crowd you might enjoy a live version of 'Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song'. There is a nice double feature from their 2016 Wacken show.
3:52 I’ve seen them 8 times (so far), this song is a staple of their show for this very reason, and I still get chills when the opening melody starts and we all start singing along. 14:54 Bruce never had any formal training, he learned “on the job” singing in small bands through high school and the local pub scenes. The only formal coaching he had was in 2015 during rehabilitation after treatment for throat cancer. He has a very theatrical approach, you notice the big movement and over exaggerated stances, he performs to the whole crowd, even those at the very back and up in the rafters, not just vocally but physically too. He is extraordinarily fit, he’s a competitive fencer with many trophies and medals, he was even asked to represent GB in the Olympics in either 84 or 88, but he declined the opportunity due to band commitments. He’s also a pilot, and they have to be pretty fit too. The whole band are very fit, the bassist and founding member Steve Harris plays football… before he started playing bass he was a West Ham academy player. He even put together a football team comprised of members of the band and road crew, they often play against local teams while on tour. What’s a day off? 😂 The energy they have onstage even in their 60s puts people half their age to shame, and even now Bruce runs a marathon while performing. I think he said he loses 2 to 3 litres in sweat in a single night.
What an amazing comment! Thank you my dude. Lots of food for thought here. I find it particularly impressive that he had throat cancer and managed to come back from that as I have known singers who I’ve worked with who have had even thyroid cancer and it ended their career. What a man. 😊💪
HIGHLY recommend Nightwish Ghost Love Score, Epica Stabat Mater Doloroso, and Sabaton Christmas Truce and No Bullets Fly as relevant for u as a soul singer...also Ren Hi Ren, and Ayreon Valley of the Queens and The Day the World Breaks Down
Hi Melissa, greetings from the Netherlands. I really enjoy watching your reactions. I might have an interesting recommendation for you. Being a singer, you should definitely listen to Nightwish! They are a band from Finland and they’re top notch in the symphonic metal genre. Their Dutch singer, Floor Jansen has one of the best female voices in metal today. She's a master at conveying emotion through a song and her stage presence is unmistakable. Nightwish is very diverse, none of their songs are alike. There are epic and melodic songs, like the one I’m recommending now, but they can also go really heavy on you and the next song could be very celtic sounding or even jazzy. Their music is exceptionally well composed and arranged. The lyrics are very powerful and poetic, which leads to great storytelling. Nightwish is best appreciated LIVE. Give the song ‘Ghost Love Score’ a try. It was recorded at Wacken 2013, in front of 82 000 people. You might be surprised. th-cam.com/video/47e_961OQWE/w-d-xo.html
@@martine3293 Martine working hard as usual pimpin' the Valkrie Goddess. Melisa we metalheads call Bruce the Human Air raid siren. His yelling belts are legendary.
As someone who has watched Maiden quite a number of times live, the crowd may look squished and it might look to the outside like it's pretty chaotic, but metal heads are some of the most compassionate and kind people in music. My knee literally gave way from underneath me twice at one gig (Nottingham, 2017). First time I just wobbled and found my balance, but the second time I literally ended up on the floor. As soon as it happened, everyone stepped back to give me room, and someone I didn't even know was helping me back up with their arm around my shoulders. It might look agressive, but we're all a bunch of softies really!
This comment should get a couple of thousand upvotes. As a fellow metalhead, 6'5" with tattoos, thick beard and 140 kg to my name, im proud to say im a big old softie. Metalheads recognize the love for the music and other metalheads, no war in us whatsoever
First seen Maiden live back in 1986. Seen them dozens of times since then. Seen them last year in Belfast. Heading to Dublin in June Can't wait. I'm 72 years old and I intend to keep going to see them.
Definitely jealous of that, I had the chance to see Maiden a few months ago, but didn't find out that they were going to be near me until right after I bought my tickets for Judas Priest and unfortunately could not afford to go to both. I'm not mad but I assure I will be there next chance I get
Maiden, absolutely awesome live! Please try NIGHTWISH "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013, you won't be disappointed, I promise! Haha new sub & like
Thank you my dude! I think Iron Maiden might be my new favourite next to Judas Priest! Ill check this out. There’s a lot of amazing live stuff on TH-cam for IM so Im really spoiled. 😊
That would be a very short short video to watch for us. She skipped the entire solo section in this video. in Ghost live score, the opening gone, mid solo gone, the build up gone . Just Floor singing.
Lovely finding a scottish reactor! Pure cracking up at some of your patter, you made me homesick, naebdy swears as fluently as us 🤣 Bruce is one of the all time great singers, you want to check out what his voice was like when he was younger (just as good). I actually was at the very first gig where Blaze Bailey sang for Maiden, at the Barras in Glasgow. Powerful singer, sort of reminiscent of Meatloaf or Jack Black.
There's one band I haven't seen suggested, so if I may: Type-O Negative. Peter Steele is 6'8" and about as broad as he is tall. With that, he has equally long vocal cords which make him a unique listen. The band's musical style is often considered gothic metal, but there's also a subcurrent of dark humor underneath most of their music. "Love You to Death" is the default fan suggestion, but "Pyretta Blaze" is certainly another many fans would nod their heads to for a suggestion, if you'd like to travel off the beaten path.
Haha it’s so random that of all songs you know it’s can I play with madness! Great video, I love seeing fellow women in TH-cam doing well. I’ll be sure to check out more if your videos, hopefully in the future you do more maiden/Dickson reactions - Bruce is just another level!
I know its pretty random 😂 one of those random memories from childhood! For sure, thank you so much for your kind words. Same! It is lovely to e-meet another woman here. Keep me updated with what you’re doing so i can watch and support 😊❤
Hi there, just found your channel! Maiden have....a lot of amazing songs that show off Bruce's voice. I'd suggest either Hallowed be thy Name or Phantom of the Opera (there is an amazing live recording of that from Download 2013 on youtube). Whatever you choose though you really can't go wrong with Maiden! Saw them live at Earls Court back in 2006, it was a damn near religious experience.
9:19 His energy level is incredible. My whole family saw them in 2019. After the show, I observed to my husband that Bruce was slowing down a little. (He’s shifted the emphasis of the stage show *slightly* from the running and jumping to the theatrics.) My two middle kids, then aged 14 and 16, simultaneously said, “That’s slowing down?!” in absolute shock. They’d already been to several rock and metal shows, and they were blown away.
@@SoulSingerDiscovers It was definitely a big deal. My oldest had seen them a few times before, but it was the first Maiden show for my younger three and my daughter-in-law.
I saw them in 2019 too. Bruce apologised that he couldn't do a lot of jumping because of an injury he had suffered just before the tour. But he still gave it 100% energy!
So glad I clicked this particular vid of yours. Came to see what you thought of Iron Maiden. I was happy you mentioned you skip through songs. I was going to recommend a fantastic singer for you to listen to. But the fans won’t watch if you skip through it. Saved everyone time 👍🏻
Please never ever stop a solo I grow up listen to heavy metal and see a lot of group and this one group I see live 11 or 12 time and I still listen to day age 64 I love it it well put all of all today music in a dustbin
I’m not heavily into Iron Maiden and don’t have comprehensive knowledge of their catalogue. But I know that Bruce is one hell of a metal singer. And I love the studio version of their song “The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg”. Because Bruce puts that semi-operatic effect on his vocal lines and it sounds awesome. Plus there’s a fantastic held note to top the whole thing off.
On MTV Iron Maiden probably played Run To The Hills. But my favorite song from Iron Maiden is Alexander the Great from the caught somewhere in time album. PS. Iron Maiden is my favorite Band and have been listening to them for about 42 years or so.
Every Iron Maiden concert is functionally a 20,000+ person sing-along, lol. You won't find more devoted fans anywhere. And Bruce has insane energy and presence on stage, beyond his vocals or music, he just seems to fill any room he's in with that classic heavy-metal energy. I don't even know how to describe it. Though I honestly prefer some of his solo stuff from the 90's. Specifically "Skunkworks' and "The Chemical Wedding". He broke out of the Iron Maiden mold for a while there.
May I suggest Hallowed Be Thy Name Live - its AMAZING... but you cant go wrong with any IM song! one of the best bands you will see live, very theatrical and crowd interaction.
Bruce Dickinson has a vocal range of 3 octaves and 11 semitones; It spans from D2-C♯6. The way he stands and hunches support his singing. And I totally agree but the other comment with the other comment,l. Hallowed be thy name is definitely the other song you need to listen live.
Melisa, one song I think you would really, really enjoy from a different band is Helloween - Forever and One (Official Live Video). They have 3 lead singers. In this video, two of the lead singers are singing. Since you like audience participation, this one is really good for that. See link (th-cam.com/video/v5ceqdP9Hbk/w-d-xo.html)
Story from a Maiden show I attended in 2012ish: I was in the second seated row (behind the SRO in front of us) with my 300+lb cousin Johnny who had gotten out of jail just a few months earlier. We were in the encore when I saw out of the corner of my eye that Johnny had picked up and thrown someone from the row behind us. Since we were kids, this guy was given to causing trouble, so I just quickly finished my beer and assumed we were about to be escorted from the venue. I was thankful he at least waited until the end of the show to start shit this time. But it turned out we were fine. The reason he chucked the guy was that the guy had decided to try to pee in a beer can and missed, spraying the backs of the legs in our row with pee. I wore jeans and didn't notice. But my cousin had on shorts, and so did the teen kid next to him who was at the show with his dad. Johnny said he was more offended on behalf of the kid than himself, and threw the guy out of anger that he had fucked up this kid's first ever Maiden concert. I contest that the kid probably had a better show because of the pee and my cousin's subsequent violence. I bet he's still telling that story to this day. Anyway: we got to stay until the end of the show, and the rogue pisser got escorted from the venue.
@@SoulSingerDiscovers At least you know he's real. 😂 p.s. Makes a nice change to see a Scottish TH-camr being suggested to me. The only other two that ever come up in my suggestions are that guy that does history tours and the Critical Drinker. You usually have to hunt for the other stuff.
First and foremost Melissa I would like to say that you have an AMAZING voice! I last saw Maiden in October and they still blow my mind. Im 57 and saw them first in 1981. I will admit that I am a super fan but the power and precision of Maiden remains at the highest of high levels. Stay on this journey Melissa and may I suggest "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". Its a BANGER. 🤘🤘🤘 UP THE IRONS
Love Iron Maiden, but ADORE Bruce in particular...that is why I HIGHLY recommend his solo stuff- Accident of Birth (Cyclops and Arc of space and time) I think you would love...
Next to Def Leppard and Judas Priest... Iron Maiden is one of the most successful British heavy metal/ hard rock bands... Their global audience is astonishing - from Australia to South America... from Asia to North America... The video u saw on MTV by Iron Maiden was 'Can I play with madness?" from 1988, their 7th album "Seventh son of a seventh son". It was actor Graham Chapman's last TV appearance before his death from cancer in 1989, and the band did not appear in the video (except in footage). Despite Bruce Dickinson (vocals) being their most prolific and current singer, Iron Maiden has recorded w/ 3 singers in total in the career... Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 by Steve Harris (bass) in London, UK... who began writing his own songs and wanted a band that would play them in clubs and bars. Early Iron Maiden was Harris and his mates jamming together... but he wanted a professional band, so members kept coming and going. Dave Murray (guitar) was introduced to Maiden in 1976 and he became a permanent member in 1977... That year, Paul Di'Anno (vocals) also joined and brought his bluesy, punk rock-style voice to the band... Iron Maiden built a following by playing shows in the UK for years, until they were finally signed in 1979, as Clive Burr (drums) and Dennis Stratton (2nd guitar) were added to the line-up. Their manager Rod Smallwood also felt that the band needed a 'personality' to make them more prolific, and so artist Derek Riggs contributed a painting a of skeletal ghoul w/ hollow eyes that became Iron Maiden's mascot 'Eddie the head' and appeared on every Iron Maiden album cover and t-shirt since. Iron Maiden's first album in 1980 charted at #4 in the UK... the band had a punk rock edge to their sound, as well as progressive elements w/ time changes and dueling guitars... Adrian Smith (guitar) replaced Stratton for the 2nd album 'Killers' in 1981... Iron Maiden toured N. America and Japan for the first time, but the band's rigorous touring schedule burnt out singer Paul Di'Anno on the road, so he parted ways w/ Maiden. Samson singer Bruce Dickinson had seen Iron Maiden perform w/ Paul Di'Anno, and he jumped at the chance in '81 when Di'Anno was out of Maiden... His first Maiden album 'The number of the beast' charted at #1 in the UK and sold platinum (1 million copies) in the USA... Nicko McBrain (drums) replaced Clive Burr in 1983 and Iron Maiden became an arena-headlining sensation in the 80's... releasing major albums like 'Piece of mind' (1983)... 'Powerslave' (1984)... 'Somewhere in time' (1986) and 'Seventh son of a seventh son' (1988)... But by 1989, guitarist Adrian Smith left the band, exhausted by the band's workload and creative conflicts. Janick Gers (guitar) joined Maiden in 1990 and 2 more albums were released - 'No prayer for the dying' (1990) and 'Fear of the dark' (1992)... But in 1993, Bruce Dickinson shocked Maiden fans by announcing that he was leaving the band for a solo career. Despite the setbacks and the 90's becoming hostile to heavy metal from the 80's... Iron Maiden searched extensively for a new singer and hired Blaze Bayley (vocals) from UK rockers Wolfsbane for the album 'The X Factor' in 1995... However, the 'new' Iron Maiden was sonically darker and more sinister, a product of Bayley's gruff vocal delivery... Maiden was not selling as many records and were reduced to playing small venues on tour... They tried again w/ the 'Virtual XI' album in 1988, but the Iron Maiden w/ Bayley on vocals was not selling, and he had difficulty singing Maiden classics in concert... It was likely a business decision to fire Blaze Bayley in early 1999. Meanwhile, neither Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith were selling records or concert tickets in the 90's, so they started working together again... In 1999, both Dickinson and Smith were offered to reunite w/ Maiden for a tour... It brought back some fanfare and the album 'Brave new world' was a success in 2000. Maiden were officially a 3 guitar band. Rather than go back w/ older records, Maiden decided to forge ahead... they wrote new songs that were longer and more intricate than their early records. They couldn't satisfy all the older fans, but they were always bringing in new people to their fanbase over the years... More albums emerged w/ longer, epic songs - 'Dance of death' (2003)... 'A matter of life and death' (2006)... 'The final fontier' (2010) and 'The Book of souls' (2015)... Bruce Dickinson went to get therapy for cancer around 2015, so Maiden did not tour until 2016, when he was given the OK by doctors. Their latest album ''Senjutsu" came out in 2021.
So, about the singers: - Paul Di'Anno: recorded the first 2 albums, he was great, he had a more punkish voice and style than Bruce - Bruce: recorded the best and most memorable albums of Maiden (I don't remember how many), so even though he's not the original singer, he's the one people think when we talk about Iron Maiden - Blaze Bayley: recorded 2 albums with Maiden when Bruce took a break from the band, I don't remember his voice I recommend you to listen to Iron Maiden with Paul Di'Anno live performance of "Phantom of the opera", it's a great song
SOME Metal Fans can be extremely precious about the music and especially about their favorite bands. But, in general, Metal Fans tend to be quite welcoming to new members to the fold. Some bands you definitely need to add to your list: TOOL (Maynard James Keenan injects incredible emotion into his delivery), Alter Bridge (Myles Kennedy's range and technique is stupendous), Journey (Steve Perry's nickname is, The Voice), Queensrÿche (Geoff Tate is indescribable), Soundgarden/Audioslave (Chris Cornell is widely considered the best Rock vocalist OF ALL TIME).
This strictly my opinion so take it at that.... I would say 1. Freddy Mercury 2. Steve Perry 3. Bruce Dickinson 4. Rik Emmett 5. Geoff Tate. Chris is top 10 but not my top 5 But I have no argument if someone thinks he is theirs
Yeah I think that’s natural when you love a genre and a band. And to be honest most people here have been really lovely. I know I can get a bit protective of Stevie Wonder if people talk shit about his not so great songs. (Ebony and Ivory in particular) Ill add these to the list. Thank you my dude! 😊
@@slainteron4027 Man.. that's rough ...Ronnie James Dio not even in your top five...my top 5 has about 8 singers in it because it is hard to drop any out..
Someone has already probably said this but 2 guirarists and a bassist is fairly standard in metal. Usually one rhythm, one lead for guitar. But in cases like Judas Priest its twin leads that switch roles.
Hi Melisa. Iron Maiden is my all time favorite band. I've been listening to them since I was 16 years old and I'm 55 now. They sound as good as ever and Bruce is still amazing. But do yourself a favor and react to their live 1982 From Hammersmith version of Hallowed be Thy Name. Best live performance of any band ever. You will absolutely be amazed at Bruce's range and voice in that one
I saw JINJER on your list. MOVE THEM UP! And yes, you can pick any official or official live video, and you will for sure be blasted. There is no bad Jinjer song. At all. Tatiana easily rivals the best of the best of growling vocalists in metal. Male or female. AND will blast you away with a clean voice and stage presence that could have made her a massive pop star easily. You definitely don't wanna miss that. Geniuses. The whole band. I suggest "Homeback" or "Wallflower" as first songs. But pick ANY song, you will be amazed for sure.
I've been an Iron Maiden fan since the late 80's. Bruce Dickinson wrote an Iron Maiden song that he originally intended to use as a broadway type of theatre piece which he never finished Check out "empire of the Clouds" since it has Bruce playing piano and it has a cello in it. It's an 18 minute musical roller coaster ride. It was never played live.
Nice list! You should throw in Lorna Shore and Slaughter to Prevail. But maybe also some folk metal - Eluveite, Skyclad, or some lack metal - Mother North (live in the opera) by Satyricon may be a good start before going into Darkthrone🤷🏻♂️ Keep up the good work!
From your list, DIO and Rammstein should be from live performances otherwise you'll be missing out big time. From DIO I would recommend "Don't Talk To Strangers" or "The Last in Line" despite "Holly Diver" being his biggest hit. He uses a lot more of his range on those two songs.

Another Maiden ballad) Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute a live performance for this one) From Brave New World------ The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us) Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death) Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley) Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams) Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet) From Dance of Death------ No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation) Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance) Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI) From A Matter of Life and Death------ Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age) The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion) Out of the Shadows (About being born)

First of all, love that Scottish accent. 2nd , had the pleasure of seeing Iron Maiden twice (Judas Priest, seven times), and it is a wholesome experience. Sing along, jumping together, a tribe coming together for a metal sermon. My fav. is Powerslave, no question. You mentioned gothic briefly, I suggest you check out the by Iron Maiden handpicked warm-up band Lord of The Lost - Born With A Broken Heart. Other than that; Powerwolf - Armata Strigoi (Live Masters of Rock 2015).
Bruce is legendary and has survived throat cancer and still out preforme just about anyone you could put onstage next to him. Showmanship
Debateable.
Both Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers are both performers that would be at Bruce's singing _and_ performing level.
@@isaiahwelch8066 if you put Justin Bieber and Bruce on the same stage who wins the showmanship performance
@@chrisgonzalez4414 : True. And sadly now, Bruce can't fly any more.
The UK has basically age-revoked his 747 pilot's license.
Hi Melisa,
"Hallowed be thy name" live is a must, you'll love it 😁
Will do my dude! 😊

Former commercial airline pilot. He has aged out of it. But that still means he still once was one, which is still wildly impressive.
@@TheComicBookJoker -As far as I know, he still flies Iron Maiden around the world on their tours on their jet called "Ed Force One" 😃
Probably my favorite song of theirs, as well.
That’s pretty impressive! Definitely not a band that appear to have suffered for time.
They definitely sound the same.
Should’ve stopped after number of the beast.
But rehashing the same songs over and over has been lucrative for them..
Me too. Got to see them live front row on this last show. They haven't missed a beat and are all in their 60's now. They went crazy and we had a blast!
@simonsteamyhead funny, most criticisms of them are that they haven’t made The Number of the Beast part 72. Which is it, dumbass?
Bruce is not only the best Iron Maiden singer, but arguably the best heavy metal singer of them all! My favorite song is: "Hallowed be thy name"; but other greats are: "The Trooper"; "Aces High" or "Sign of the Cross".
I love "Run to the Hills".
Rime of the Ancient Mariner, too.
Don't get why Seventh son, flight of icarus and children of the damned don't get more love.
Don't forget us tail-end boomers! ;)
What a wonderful comment. You painted a picture for me man 😊
En Chile amamos a Maiden!!!!
I love your voice. Speaking and singing. As a retired heavy metal singer, I appreciate your viewpoints. Much love from Texas my soul sister!🌞🙏💛☯️🌞
Thank you my dude 😊🌸
Dio, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Nightwish, Epica, Maiden, Ayreon, Sabaton, Metallica....the starter kit for TH-cam metal reactors....
Let’s not forget Geoff Tate & Queensryche.
I second the Sabaton and Metallica recommendation
Blind Guardian... 😏
I noticed you listed all of the gods, Ronnie James Dios, bands first there!🤘
The Talisman,, En vivo Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as Scottish I recommend you, The Classman Rock in Rio 2001
In short form, Iron Maiden have 3 guitarists because one left the band in 1990 and Bruce brought in the guitarist from his solo projects. Then the original guy came back and the band didn't think it was right to kick anyone so just rolled with 3 guitarists going forward :)
If you love a Crowd that sings with the Band, you have to Listen to Blind Guardian The Bard's Song. Best Live from Wacken 2016 in my Opinion (also I was there). Also Valhalla right after Bard's Song.
Legends say, we are still singing
I choose to believe that legend! 😂
Good guitar solos say as much about the soul of a song as vocals do. A soul singer could talk about the soul of the song.
I guess you’re right. I promise after releasing the next vid I will make an effort to listen to the solo and give my limited analysis. Just for the sake of being balanced 😊
Absolutely! You're so right! Dead on. Much love from Texas my soulmate!🙏💛☯️🌞
Nice reaction - dont think you should skip solos thou, us, the fans of the music, want to listen to all of it and see also your reaction to parts that are instrumental only. Please consider in upcoming Maiden reactions :)
Oh and maybe react to Maiden, Dance of Death - Live version
I will definitely consider it. Thank you for such a respectful request. Definitely checking out dance of death. Cheers my dude! 😊
Yeah I like your reactions but really a song is a total of all its parts. Focus on the vocals but people enjoy seeing the whole thing. Agree to rally with you needing to check out Jinjer. The one take vocal performance of Judgement and Punishment is perfect to see her technique.
The best live band in the world(ever;)😜
Up the mighty Irons🤘🤘🤘🤘
Maiden one of the best bands ever, their music, lyrics and energy are just legendary. Not even young bands have this energy. Fear of the dark is epic, the chilling lyrics, the temp change just fantastic
Oh yes!? This'll be fun, lass. Will watch later - soon as I've downed tools & packed up for the day. Some rabbit hole you've stumbled on here. 🤣
Indeed it is and it goes to some weird places 😂 let me know what you think 🌸
The highlight from this show (En Vivo) has to be The Talisman. Not the most visually entertaining of their live performances as Bruce stays pretty much grounded the whole time as you can hear he's not only pushing his voice to the limit, but absolutely knocking it out of the park! It's out of this world. An absolute must hear. You absolutely have to check it out, even if it's just for your own pleasure off camera
Bruce Dickinson is one the most brilliant voices in rock history.
As for Maiden ...
I saw them in the mid 90s on a metal festival in Denmark. And I thought by myself - MAN, these old dudes still rock it!
Well, and a few decades later, they are still around! Dang! Live acts are always amazing.
Couldn’t agree more! 😊
The energy they have onstage even in their 60s puts people half their age to shame, and even now Bruce runs a marathon while performing.

Heading to Dublin in June
Can't wait. I'm 72 years old and I intend to keep going to see them.
Bruce is the best. I just heard him performing 2 days ago and he sounds incredible. Tears of the Dragon is a must listen. It's my favorite song.
Definitely jealous of that, I had the chance to see Maiden a few months ago, but didn't find out that they were going to be near me until right after I bought my tickets for Judas Priest and unfortunately could not afford to go to both. I'm not mad but I assure I will be there next chance I get

Bruce is one of the all time great singers, you want to check out what his voice was like when he was younger (just as good). I actually was at the very first gig where Blaze Bailey sang for Maiden, at the Barras in Glasgow. Powerful singer, sort of reminiscent of Meatloaf or Jack Black.
We are nothing is not talented at swearing! 😂💪🏴
Bruce was also an international standard fencer, which may have influenced his stage movements and posture
Best band ever walked at Earth ! without debate ! please .. go into ! more !
Oh actually no one has suggested that yet 😊 Thank you! 😊
"Can I play with Madness" is also the name of the song. :)

Agreed!! When i first heared Geoff.. in mid -80.. omfg!! Queenryche and maiden is much alike also! Though different😂🙌🏻
😂 They were standing up for their hero against this slander 😂 That’s so great though that your family all go together. What a great thing to share 😊

But, but, but... The guitar solos!
Dammit Bob we’ve talked about this!!! 😂
Yes, but please make it the 1982 version!!! Bruce was on fire then!
Bruce Dickinson has a vocal range of 3 octaves and 11 semitones; It spans from D2-C♯6. The way he stands and hunches support his singing. And I totally agree but the other comment with the other comment,l. Hallowed be thy name is definitely the other song you need to listen live.
If you love crowd participation, you need to watch Blind Guardian do Valhalla and The Bard's Song live.
Melisa, one song I think you would really, really enjoy from a different band is Helloween - Forever and One (Official Live Video). They have 3 lead singers.

Talk you so much for this! You guys are great for doing the research for me 😂 I appreciate it very much my dude 😊
So, about the singers:
- Paul Di'Anno: recorded the first 2 albums, he was great, he had a more punkish voice and style than Bruce
- Bruce: recorded the best and most memorable albums of Maiden (I don't remember how many), so even though he's not the original singer, he's the one people think when we talk about Iron Maiden
- Blaze Bayley: recorded 2 albums with Maiden when Bruce took a break from the band, I don't remember his voice
I recommend you to listen to Iron Maiden with Paul Di'Anno live performance of "Phantom of the opera", it's a great song
Thank you for this my dude! Very comprehensive and helpful ;)
@@slainteron4027 Gonna check these out! 😊
@@slainteron4027 Man.. that's rough ...Ronnie James Dio not even in your top five...my top 5 has about 8 singers in it because it is hard to drop any out..
@@randominc.2251 My list is so subjective pending on my mood at that time. all 10 fluctuate.
sometimes he runs while he is singing and jumping
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh girl, I belly laughed at the the fake names. I was gonna be a bastard and list like 25 funky names.🤣😆
Do it!! 😂😂 it’s too much fun
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I'll try and come up with one a week for a while. Gonna get the eyebrow from the viewers. lol
If you like audience participation, I would recommend Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song/Valhalla
Can I Play With Madness is the name of the song. It’s from my favorite album of theirs, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.
Up the Irons!
Bruce Dickinson vocals
Dave Murray guitar
Adrian Smith guitar
Gers Janeck guitar
Steve Harris Bass guitar
Nikko McBain Drums
That one line you remember was the title of the song!
Bruce, is a professional fencer
I googled it cos I didn’t believe you. I stand corrected 😂 wow, what a boss!
Bruce Dickinson isn't just a singer. He tells stories. The ultimate storyteller.
I will shift them as they have had a lot of requests from folks. I love a female fronted band. Thanks for the suggestion my dude 😊
The song with the words "Can I Play with Madness" that you remember is called...uhhhhh Can I Play with Madness....
The world has been robbed of a potential masterpiece and I am MAD 😂 what a guy! 😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Did you listen or know of the song. It's EPIC!
Thanks Daniel! I’ll get them on the list 😊💪
From your list, DIO and Rammstein should be from live performances otherwise you'll be missing out big time. From DIO I would recommend "Don't Talk To Strangers" or "The Last in Line" despite "Holly Diver" being his biggest hit. He uses a lot more of his range on those two songs.
Glad you enjoyed this Melisa. I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1982, at the age of 15.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed By Thy Name - Beast Over Hammersmith
Iron Maiden -- Phantom of the Opera (Live at the Rainbow 1980 - with first singer Paul DiAnno, Rime of the Ancient Mariner(Rock in Rio 2001), Alexander the Great w/lyrics, Flight of Icarus (Official video), The Clansman - (Rock In Rio 2001), The Trooper (official video)
as well as any of the ones listed below.
Highlight of songs and what they are about that I'd recommend are:
From Iron Maiden album------
Phantom of the Opera - A must for live version
Strange World (this one will be totally different Iron Maiden)
From Killers album------
Murders in the Rue Morgue (Very loosely influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's short story, a story of a fugitive being sought for murder)
Genghis Khan (an instrumental - perfect for air drumming)
Innocent Exile (continues the theme of Murders in the Rue Morgue of an unjustly accused fugitive)
Killers (A journey into the twisted mind of a deranged killer)
Prodigal Son(about a repentant man reminiscent of the prodigal son parable found in Luke 15 of the bible)

The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s)

Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading white soldiers)
Hallowed be Thy Name (about a man who is about to be put to death and what he goes through) *** You did this one.
From Piece of Mind------
Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps
Revelations (Starts with the Hymnal from Oh God of Earth and Alter, the next two verses on the Hindu philosophy, the third verse in Yoga a snake called Kundalini that lives at the base of your spinal cord, during meditation a spiritual entity is created symbolizing the transcendental union with God)
Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus)
The Trooper (based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854,which took place during the Crimean War)
To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert)
From Powerslave------
Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII)
2 Minutes to Midnight - About the Doomsday clock for the End of the World
Back in The Village (The continuation of the song The Prisoner)
Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain)
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (story about about an ocean voyage)
From Somewhere in Time-------
Wasted Years (A song about the admonition to appreciate the present and not to take things for granted)
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (based on a short story of Alan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film
Alexander the Great (About the story of Alexander the Great
From 7th Son of a 7th Son (a concept album)------
Infinite Dreams (Detailing someone who is tormented by paranormal dreams and nightmares)
The Evil That Men Do (Title taken from a quote in Shakespeare Julius Caesar but the song is unrelated)
The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the 7th Son of the 7th Son on his life and his powers)
From Fear of the Dark------
Wasting Love (About the emptiness of relationships without love. Another Maiden ballad)
Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute a live performance for this one)
From Brave New World------
The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us)
Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death)
Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley)
Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams)
Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet)
From Dance of Death------
No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation)
Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance)
Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI)
From A Matter of Life and Death------
Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age)

Wow! This is incredible! Thank you my dude! I am absolutely blown away at such a comprehensive list. I really appreciate it as it definitely takes time to find all these things so you’ve saved me a lot of digging. You are God amount men 😊
I got some more for the shopping list:
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Live at Wacken 2013)
Electric Callboy - Techno Train
Samurai Pizza Cats - Pizza Homicide
Nanowar of Steel - Valhalleluja
Oh, and, the Kings of the Crow:
Blind Guardian - The Bard Song & Valhalla (Live at Wacken)
If you love audiences singing songs.. Watch this. The Bard Song, sung by 80000 people at one of the biggest heavy metal open airs...
Glad to see Rammstein on your list, that is an epic journey and you will be a different person the moment you begin. Yet again I must say that anyone who loves soulful vocals must experience King'sX. You have only the world to gain.
I love this comment! Added to the list. Thank you my dude 😊 I look forward to being changed 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I drove half a day to see Rammstein, I will fly across the world to see them again. Firezone, your skin is burning while every inch of your body is being pounded by the music. The most immersive concert experience. Loud in so many ways besides the sound. Loud to your heart.
Watch Dance of Death live ,same show as this! His most epic performance!!!
I've roadied for Deaf Pig Accountant. Nice lads.
I hear they are in the studio making a polka album but I think it’s just a rumour.
Bruce Dickinson is one of the greatest rock singers ever. Its great to see non rock fans/singers react to his talent.
He’s wonderful! :)
I’m glad you like it 🏴😂 thanks for the suggestions, I’ll check it out! I’m building playlists and this is all very helpful 😊💪
