Introducing a truly unique camper shell setup, a perfect fit for RAM short bed trucks, complete with a tent extension to accommodate a full-size mattress.
Over the past two years, I've painstakingly created this marvel, inspired by the best builds TH-cam had to offer. I have basked in the glory of its completion and spent two splendid summers alongside Jordan Lake. Now, it's time for me to embark on a new do-it-yourself journey into a new project, making this fantastic setup available for you.
The real beauty of this camper lies in its simplicity. It takes just one person and five minutes to load or unload, giving you the flexibility to use your truck for other purposes.
This setup comes packed with:
- RANCH truck shell, featuring sliding windows with bug screens.
- A bed platform, extendable to a full bed (I recommend a 75"x38", 4in mattress from Amazon).
- A complete indoor kitchen, equipped with a sink.
- Fresh water supply: 5 gallons, with 6 gallons for gray water. Complete with a 12v water pump with a stop relay.
- A kitchen-side sprayer, handy for outdoor use.
- The Bluetti AC200MAX with a 2,048Wh capacity, ensuring 2 - 3 days of off-grid camping.
- A Maxxair Fan fitted with a remote and thermostat, all operating on 12v DC.
- SEEKR, Sirocco II Fan, operates on 12v DC.
- Pepwave MAX BR1 Pro 5G Router (2-SIM), 12V with Mobility 42G Antenna (Wi-Fi / 5G / GPS). This game changer for remote work.
- Stalwart 65-EC-40, an electronic digital safe with interior dimensions of 7.9” L x 19.7” W x 15.7” H.
- A truck tent, perfect even for taller individuals like myself (6"2).
- An all-in-one 5KW Diesel heater, attachable via flex hose into the roof air inlet.
- Shore power inlet (110V, 15A) and multiple external connections for devices.
- Subfloor and laminated floor.
Please take the time to watch the accompanying video, which illustrates just how simple the setup process is. Don't hesitate to ask further questions! This camper could be your ticket to the perfect outdoor experience you've been dreaming of.
One of the nicest truck camper builds I've seen. Have you considered offering plans for other folks to build such a setup ?
I want that in my '19 Tundra, 4x4 off road, double cab. 6.5' bed !
ME TOO! FOR MY 2006 CHEVY 2500 HD, DURAMAX 4X4 6.5' BED...
I've been studying these builds for five years constantly looking for upgrades
This is the single bestest build I've ever seen for a truck.
This thing could easily be transferred from a larger truck to a smaller truck with very little modifications
On top of being easy to convert back a truck to haul I like the fact that the hidden components are easy to work on if need be. By being removable you can easily repair something or add something new.
Юра, все супер продумано и аккуратно, ты очень круто1
Complimenti bellissimo.😮
Absolutely the most well thought out, genius truck camper design Ive seen. I like many others here have viewed many many many others and this is THE BEST !!!!. I've started building my Ram 2500 short bed out. I'd even be interested in hiring you to build the same set up as you did for your Ram. Nice job Sir 👍👍
Hey, thanks! It was just something I did as a hobby. :)
One word; INGENUOUSNESS
🤣🤣🤣
Actually, when I saw the thumbnail, i pigeonholed what was to follow. As I watched the video. The Simplicity in Design and Video Presentation had one Word also. AWESOME!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've seen quite a few builds but this one is my favorite !!
This is absolutely amazing!!
My guy, I’m a craftsmen myself, and have built numerous truck builds, and have got to say, this is the most impressive one I’ve come across.
Wow. I love this and I’ve watched thousands of videos
Best DIY set up. I've ever seen..
Nicely done! I've been thinking of doing the same. The runner in the middle locks the side pieces in place. You can pretty much disassemble with no tools.
Its simple, thats why its so nice project, easy to take out and easy to modifi if you want to change something for the next trip, and a day after you can work with the truck!
Awesome design
Bloody impressive. You should be proud
Wyle-e-coyote. Genius.
Outstanding Build should be proud Sir!! Thanks for sure and God Bless America 🇺🇸
love love love how minimal and functional this is!
I would pay for your plans to build that for my '19 Tundra!
Awesome
Nice build. Enjoy, travel safely. 🙏
Very nice, well thought out, functional design, and original.

5 Star Studio, excellent build.
Best setup ive seen so far
Beautiful setup, nice work
Super nice build just love it!
Well you’ve inspired me to do this with my Ram! Excellent build!
Nice job! Love it 👍
Nicely done!
Wow, it’s cool work 👍
AWESOME SET-UP. A LOT OF FOLKS WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS BUILD FOR THEIR TRUCKS, THINK ABOUT PLANS...
Howdy from Corpus Christi Texas. Outstanding 👍 👍
Awesome build buddy
Thanks 👍
Great👍
Very nice. Maybe nicest truck topper build I’ve seen.
Very good, gave me some ideas 👍
Very nice
Darn smart, build with working room, then shove it in. Pretty good for a one man job. 👍
merci et bravo.
I've always loved that style of camper shell with the different roof-hights and variously shaped windows. Very nice conversion. I would add a camping toilet as I can't live without one (I even have one at home as I only have one bathroom, and you never know...). A little hanging space 4a few pretty dresses tucked in, and it would be perfect 4m. Happy Travels. 🙋♀️
Absolutely! I'm really happy with my TRIPTIPS Portable Foldable Toilet :-)
Very nice design and work, along with great video presentation.
Nice job
Sick bro.👍
Very well organized brain
Nice work my friend…
WHAT A FUCKING BUILD! GREAT WORK
goods
Nice ..I need to do this to my truck..if I had the plans
Oh lauwd ! There has got to be some kind of criminal charge for having a truck camper build so awesome ! lol , I have my mini van decked out like this ; but I'm getting hooked on these truck camper shell camping build videos . I once had a pickup in the eighties with the flared Leer camper shell top . These videos make me cringe to think , I practically gave it away years ago . Then comes your video , that will send me into a jealous state of mind ! lol ...... ( dude ; you got it going on . Thanks for sharing your AWESOME build )
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! It's always a trip down memory lane to remember the rigs we used to have. Keep enjoying the build videos, and who knows? Maybe it's time for a new project for your mini van. Happy camping!
This is awesome. Do you have a video on how to set up and connect water pump and sink as well as the outlet. How did you get everything connected to the power generator
Love the buld!! Do you have any rough plans you can share?
So nice! Are you taking orders? :)
Hi, not really. It's just a hobby project 🙂
Wish I could put a tall camper shell on my truck, but then it wouldn't fit in the garage.
Nice build. I dont do water in mine, but do have an air conditioner.
Holly geffers Batman. 👍
How did you put that overhead shelf in? Did you drill through the cap?
The roof is 3/4 fiberglass with an added cloth layer. Therefore, I used 1-1/2 inch screws for the 3/4 inch thick board, ensuring no holes were made externally.
😎👍
Hi Yury awesome build would you be able to measure at the end of the bed to the top of highest point of the cap roof? I have a ram as well, trying to figure out what the max height would be with a topper like yours, then adding an ez topper lift which would add an extra 17.5 inches in height when raised.
🤯🤯🤯
Very nice. How do you secure the boxes to the floor when traveling? Ty
That's easy! The boxes are quite heavy and I secure each of them to the subfloor with two screws when traveling.
@@yury.bushev Thanks !
Pretty cool but a bit short on words!
Very nice build. I would add a solar panel on the roof to help charge your generator. One question, I love the rolling storage cart. Why isn’t it tailgate height to ease loading/unloading?
We think alike! I actually added a 100W flexible solar panel to the cap roof last month. The cart was originally made for a different purpose, way before the camper itself, so I'm making use of what I already have.
Really impressive! Where do we go from here?
What thickness plywood did you use for the major structural pieces? Thanks.
Hi. I used 3/4 inch plywood for the bed and 1/2 inch plywood for the kitchen.
Is that a lot of weight for the truck? I would so love to do something like this.
The camper shell is the heaviest part, weighing about 300 lb. The furniture is approximately 100 lb, and the battery is around 50 lb. So, the total weight is roughly 500 lb including water.
Wow, great job! When are we going out next?;-) ;-)
Very soon! 😊
What model stain did you use for the wood?
When you take a pothole or bump, is it okay and everything is in its exact place?
I absolutely love the water system you have there!
Are you running a 400Ah LiFePO house batther on that set up?
Thanks! It's the BLUETTI AC200MAX which has 2,048Wh (51.2V, 40Ah, LiFePO4).
Which of the many alternatives do you use to recharge that generator. and is that a 6.5' bed?@@yury.bushev
@@kenmasteren I used to charge with a 110v cord from my garage. But after getting 100w flexible solar, I can boost the charge from 40% to 100% each week, just in time for my weekly trips.
i guess the extra piece of plywood you put in the middle floor is to double the bed width?
im wondering ab9ut height from floor to mattress, and mattress to ceiling? Are you able to sit on bed without bumping your head?
Beautiful workmanship btw!
Yes, you're exactly right! The additional section in the middle of the floor is designed to broaden the bed's size when I'm staying overnight. I'm using 75"x38" foldable mattress. The measurements are comfortable -- about 11 inches from the floor to the bed and then 39 inches from the bed to the ceiling. Even for a tall guy like me (I'm 6'2"), it's enough room to sit on the bed and work on a laptop all day without any trouble. Hope that helps!
@@yury.bushev
Yes it does help!! thank you!
I'm 6'0" and figured I need 48" inside. 12 floor to butt and 36 bed to ceiling
I like the way you made the platform on the bottom can I ask you a question? Did you put the slats underneath the plywood on the part that’s lower in the truck or the higher spot and what kind of wood did you use on the bottom, was it pine?
Hey there! Yes, I used pine for the wood-it's affordable and has that great natural look. I laid the slats along the entire length of the floor to accommodate the contours of the truck bed. This way, they sit flush even in the lower spots, ensuring stability without taking up too much height. Plus, this setup allows for ventilation beneath, which is super handy if any water gets in. Hope that helps!
Wouldn't your cabinets fly up and around if u hit a bump super fast or off roading ?
Hi I’m wondering what kind of cap setup you used on the 5 gallon water jugs to be able to just snap them into your water line, and do you have any issues with leaks?
Hey! I made a hole in the regular cap and fixed a CPC (from the brand Colder) quick-connect valved female adapter. I also have a male adapter on the pump side, which is also valved, so it doesn't leak water when they are unlinked. They are a bit pricey though; I spent around $60 on them.
hey, I have been looking to hire someone for a build like this on a tacoma 5ft bed. do you take orders?
Hey, thanks! But no, it was just a hobby project of mine. :)
What size bed is you Ram?
Thanks! That’s short bed RAM - 5-foot 7-inch
I hate videos that the person doesn’t talk.
How did you attach the roof shelves? im not sure if i should drill into my camper shell roof. i just cut a hole in for my vent fan, it was like a weird honey comb material
Awesome
