    thankyou for this, I drive to Melbourne often from Adelaide, now can understand freight from Adelaide veers to right at Ararat and passenger continues on the line left of the hwy :)

    The Grampians look spectacular on the left in the distance as we go past, what was that reduction in speed at 18:57 the track was great and there were two small bridges were they the reason?........😀😀😀😀

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I am lead to believe the bridge is the problem. 👍😊

      Not the Grampians - they are BEHIND the train, about 30km WEST of Ararat (the train is heading EAST)! First mountain (between Ararat & Buangor) is Langi Ghiran, followed by Mount Buangor, then Mount Lonarch to the north of Beaufort.

    Great video. I played it back at double speed to imagine what it would be like travelling on a Shinkhansen Adelaide to Melbourne. It was quite realistic, particularly with the train going faster than nearby cars. The track in this area is relatively straight and would suit a higher speed train, possibly tilting.

      A truly high speed railway in Australia, we can but dream 🙂👍

    You would think upgrading to 160kph on that line would be a no brainer, but it is vline we are talking about. Most of the curves look like 160 should be manageable easy enough, you would think it would be mostly signal and level crossing infrastructure that would need tweeking

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is mostly nice and straight but there is extra safety equipment that monitors speed etc. that comes with 160kph. I guess it comes down to the priorities of what to spend the money that is available on what projects. That's a decision for people above my pay grade. 😀😀👍

    Awesome . . . Does it disappoint drivers if you have no passengers on the train?

    2 Questions, 1 what was the speed restriction near Middle Creek for? 2 how long it the turn around in Ararat?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      1. The speed restriction is due to a defect with the bridge. 2. Turn around is about 45 minutes. 👍😊
