    How crazy was that bit near the fire at the start of the video! Don’t see that every day! Love it! Thanks for all your amazing uploads!

    (singing to myself) Railway track upgrades on a bright day in spring, these are a few of my favorite things. 🤭 (I'm ignoring the fact it was filmed in autumn)

    seems to be a few closed stations on this line

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are. The line from Wendouree to Ararat was closed in 1994 then reopened in 2004. 👍😊

    Here I go again, noticed that the whistle posts were yellow, is this some thing new? By the number of concrete sleepers beside the line are they to replace timber ones?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      The yellow whistle boards signify that the crossing is fitted with a white flashing light that lets the driver know that it is operating correctly. 👍😊

      @@driver667 I remember back in 1999 seeing the white light flashing at the Myrtlebank Rd crossing north of Sale, yet the alternating red light and bell were not operating. Admittedly this was when RTL1 was running and the crossings were in the process of being recommissioned. It was determined by the RTL crew that the track circuit had been reactivated, but the FL signal not yet connected. The train was flagged through the crossing.

      @@emdB67 sounds like a fair take on what could have been the problem back then. 👍🙂

    I don't see Dowling on the 1947 or the 1957 VR maps, nor on Mark Bau's consolidated VR map from 1999. Is the location based on some other information?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1927 Victorian railways grades book. 👍😊 Have a look at Mark Bau's website under 'location index'. Dowling is listed there with a diagram. It was basically just a platform. 👍
