@@nos145 I've kept an eye on GMC light truck prices for two years and have never seen the price on the Canyons drop below $42K. They don't come with leather seats, they don't have power adjustment, they lack a keypad on the door or power sliding rear window. No sunroof, no analog instrument panel, no AWD, no V6 and they want almost $42-44K for it. Despicable. They can let their trucks rot for all I care. And I can tell that the trucks have been there for a long time. They were all accumulating large amounts of dirt and leaves between the hood and windshield. A lot of the trucks had very old bird poop on them. That's going to damage the paint job. I'm sure if you washed them, you'll see stains where the birds bombed them.

It is because of the government. They have to meet emissions, and if they go backwards with power outputs, people will complain and/or buy the competition. So, to pass emissions AND improve power, small displacement turbo engines are good solutions, as are hybrid systems. This isn’t rocket science.

Just because it’s a bargain doesn’t mean it’s good. I own an AT4 2024 model. I only have 6000 miles on it and the roof is dented. GM has issued a service bulletin however it does not include the 2024 canon. The reason the roof has dented is becomes of the air dryers when going through a car wash it makes a loud popping noise on the roof, which sounds kind of like an oil can and when you come out, you have a dent in the top of your roof! Normally, I would rather wash my vehicle at home but most people who live busy lifestyles don’t always have time for that this is happened at two different washes the dealership covered it the first time but unfortunately, since the 2024 is not under the service bulletin fix or repair will have to come out of pocket. This is BS!! I’m staying in touch with GM because this is a manufacturing defect I have never had any vehicle to have this problem. I have owned many many vehicles over the years mostly Ford and never had an issue, but if an air dryer can do this to the roof of your cab, what happens in a rollover the structural integrity of the roof seems to be lacking or just piss poor, and GM needs to fix this! I’m already considering never buying another GM product. If this is the way they build cars maybe you should do the same. oh, and something else I would like to point out. Black shows a lot of things anyway, but the paint is worse than any black vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned at least four black vehicles. This one however, seems to scratch just from looking at it. It’s like they didn’t hardly put any clear at all on the paint. I’ve never seen something scratch so easily so if you do decide to purchase one of these vehicles, I will definitely go with white, at least stay away from the black otherwise the scratches will start forming from day one it really doesn’t take anything for it to scratch. Also, the screen acts up at times. I finally got it fixed I think and the wireless charging seems like more of a gimmick it doesn’t really work unless your phone is all plastic and then it still may have some issues. It’s a good looking truck, but GM dropped the ball on this one. You can put sprinkles on a pile of crap, but you still have crap.

Infotainment screen always had ghost touches that would lock up the screen. The leaf springs started to grind and would make clunking noises when going over the most minor bumps. Dealership replaced the spacers in the leaf springs to no avail. Also updated the infotainment screen and that didn't fix the issue. I these issues are minor but still. You couldn't give me a four cylinder Canyon or Tacoma. The 2.7 liter displacement of the Canyon turbo may be the same as the Ford's, but the Ford is a turbo six cylinder. There is a world of difference between the two. The Toy is an emasculated grocery getter. Any in line four cylinder engine over 2.5 (really 2.0 liters) liters will be over square and be saddled with cylinder firing imbalances. In the past, some companies would equip their oversquare engines with counter rotating balance shafts to quell the natural shaking of the engine (e.g. Porsche supplied its 3.0 liter four cylinder engine in the 944 with balance shafts). I applaud Mary Barra for 86ing the EV program at GM. I guess I should be thankful for small deficiencies from GM like this one. Thanks Ben.

These motors have countershafts and are very smooth. They are oversquare which helps in torque production, and don't like being revved over 5,500rpm, If you drive it like the 2.8 turbo-diesel which everyone loves, its everything that engine is and more from my point of view.

Youre buying reliability with the Tacoma and a history of good service and customer service. All things that dont exist with GM, Theres a reason these trucks seem like the bargain of the century.

You have to be naive to think other manufacturers won't be raising prices like Toyota did. GMC isn't nearly as reliable as Toyotas. I can sell my 16 Tacoma for close to what I paid 8 years ago. That's why I'll only own a Tacoma.

Bargain of which century? It wouldn't even be bargain of this century. Paid $36k for a full size Silverado fully loaded leather seats everything in 2010.

No offense, but your definition of “bargain” is relative..I mean bargain as compared to what? A $70k F150? A BMW 5 series?
$47k is absurd for that truck
