when banks started financing vehicles for terms like its a mortgage on a house. if you spread the cost out over 10yrs the dumb consumers will just care that they can afford the monthly payment and not care about the overall price
As a GM employee, we barely get a % off that. Talk about inflation 😨 I purchased a 1997 S-10 base model brand new & it cost me $12,500 with my dad's discount. I kept it 23yrs and put 300K on it. Replaced engine and transmission once each which is a great deal. I'm currently looking to buy a new Canyon but I was shocked to learn that we only got $1500 off of certain models and zero off the others 😢
Toyota knows what you pay for up front, you can get back when you sell. This is a nice truck, though. I agree that it's a good value. Funny how these midsized trucks aren't far off from being full sized anymore.
@Mournful3ch0 considering "jumping the shark" analogy doesn't remotely apply to the point your trying to make. My 3rd gen Tacoma with 200k miles has been flawless. Go troll someone else!
I'm not a truck guy but was pretty impressed with the AT4 my buddy just picked up. His one complaint was on the tires being very loud and less than ideal tracking on smooth pavement.

It is because of the government. They have to meet emissions, and if they go backwards with power outputs, people will complain and/or buy the competition. So, to pass emissions AND improve power, small displacement turbo engines are good solutions, as are hybrid systems. This isn’t rocket science.
My local dealer has had several Chevy Trail Boss and GMC Elevate versions that were nicely equipped for around 42k. They never last over a week. Toyotas pricing is shocking. I have a couple buddy's with older Tacoma's with the V6. They both decided to just keep what they have because they think the pricing is too high and they don't like the fact the V6 is no more.
Exactly right. A colleage at work has a 2016 tacoma v6 with a stick and he's decided to keep it forever. Their newer stuff is beer quality on a champagne budget
Just because it’s a bargain doesn’t mean it’s good. I own an AT4 2024 model. I only have 6000 miles on it and the roof is dented. GM has issued a service bulletin however it does not include the 2024 canon. The reason the roof has dented is becomes of the air dryers when going through a car wash it makes a loud popping noise on the roof, which sounds kind of like an oil can and when you come out, you have a dent in the top of your roof! Normally, I would rather wash my vehicle at home but most people who live busy lifestyles don’t always have time for that this is happened at two different washes the dealership covered it the first time but unfortunately, since the 2024 is not under the service bulletin fix or repair will have to come out of pocket. This is BS!! I’m staying in touch with GM because this is a manufacturing defect I have never had any vehicle to have this problem. I have owned many many vehicles over the years mostly Ford and never had an issue, but if an air dryer can do this to the roof of your cab, what happens in a rollover the structural integrity of the roof seems to be lacking or just piss poor, and GM needs to fix this! I’m already considering never buying another GM product. If this is the way they build cars maybe you should do the same. oh, and something else I would like to point out. Black shows a lot of things anyway, but the paint is worse than any black vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned at least four black vehicles. This one however, seems to scratch just from looking at it. It’s like they didn’t hardly put any clear at all on the paint. I’ve never seen something scratch so easily so if you do decide to purchase one of these vehicles, I will definitely go with white, at least stay away from the black otherwise the scratches will start forming from day one it really doesn’t take anything for it to scratch. Also, the screen acts up at times. I finally got it fixed I think and the wireless charging seems like more of a gimmick it doesn’t really work unless your phone is all plastic and then it still may have some issues. It’s a good looking truck, but GM dropped the ball on this one. You can put sprinkles on a pile of crap, but you still have crap.
We purchased a band new 2020 Silverado in April of 2020. We only put 37 thousand miles on it in just less than 4 years. Infotainment screen always had ghost touches that would lock up the screen.
