I started by painting a few baseball bats that I no longer use; they are about the same size and really gave my some ideas of which patterns I liked the best before painting my rifle.
One of the best camo paint jobs ive seen on youtube! At least this is a perfect example of the type camo Im looking to do for my AR in SW Pa. Thanks for showing!
It’s always best to do light coats and layer the paint on. Start off the weapon and finish off the weapon. That’s how you avoid runs and have a nice even finish
I started learning by painting a few baseball bats that I no longer use; they are about the same size and really gave me some ideas of which patterns I liked the best before painting my rifle.
I've been watching how-to videos for a while now getting ready to do my first paint job. The one thing I've not seen mentioned is charging the rifle so you can manipulate the safety. Never even thought of that. Thanks for adding this important step in the process. You also do a better job of taping the glass than anyone one YT!
Just finished my M4A1 Block II DD-8030im going to just paint the upper/lower tube stock. Great paint job you just put down Thanks for the instruction’s GodBlessYou Brother
This has to be one of the BEST vids on painting my firearm. I have been a little scared but not anymore. And the results was also one of the best if not the best. Thanks man!
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for telling me where I can get some good stencils too. I'll have to check that paint out as well. Everyone I've seen on here is all about rustoleum.
this is a very nice paint job, and has much depth to the camo breaking up all angles to hide the gun with the pattern n the paint, im not a fan of the color but its his gun and he painted it to suite him which im happy its the way he wants it to look, his techinque painting it is awesome and i;m thankful he shared how he paints n the pattern he uses, i know i couldnt make it look as good as him, i never painted one yet, but like every thing it gets better with experience, and his gun will hide easily when he gets outside in the brush or enviroment he operates in, a very very nice paint job indeed ! thank u for showing us your style !
Awesome paint job Sir. I know this is one of your older videos, but for someone like me who painting my first rifle, just out of curiosity, could you possibly show how one of your older rifles that you painted looks after a few years of use? Thank you Sir.
Nice... I figured you was going to have a hard time getting rid of all the stainless on the barrel with the handguard still on it but it looked good. I just built an 18 inch SPR rifle and went with a stainless barrel as well but I really don't like the all black rifle with bright SS barrel and never painted a rifle before so was looking for ideas... Good stuff man I'm feeling much more comfortable about just rattle canning the whole thing now.
I have looked at quite a few videos on painting and was not impressed with the various finishes, it’s a daunting procedure especially with a new firearm, however it’s a personal choice but you really did a great job and it looks “just right” well done, thanks for the video.
A piece of advice. If you want distinct lines in your tiger stripe use the stickers. I painted mine based on this video & like the softer lines the stencil creates
I'm trying to get myself to spray my first rifle and I've been watching a lot of vids and yours is by far the coolest job I've seen. Last summer my wife came home with six cans of the Krylon camo paint she got on clearance and I asked her what in the world are ya going to do with that? Well now I know. Gonna get the PA stencil and go to town. Thanks.
I want to see a follow up video on this. I'd like to see what this gun and this paint job looks like now after two years of normal use. Normal use does not mean sitting in a gun safe and not being handled for two years.
My friend easy and nice lets get mine done this week. Any Patriot Christians out there I would like to throw a little prayer my way I go for testing at the oncologist on Monday morning tomorrow I could use prayer from all of you. So I can fight the good fight
@@WalterLitwinko Thank you, God bless. One person u , said you would pray for me. This is the end people are really bad if they're to busy to say a 3 second prayer for a stranger. I keep praying and repentance and hopefully God come soon hopefully he leaves the good people here to inherit the earth
That looks awesome!! Been wanting to do something like this with my Hellion or my AR-10. To afraid I’ll screw it up beyond fixing though. Great video and info!! Does the paint have any cook off or anything like from the firearm heating up??
I own a cerakote shop got several customers coming in with there mess up rattle can jobs, have to dip all parts in acetone for 2 hours then sand blast everything to finally cerakote
I snip local vegetation as my stencils, locust leaves, pine needles, field long grasses. I primer red, then whole tan, then a little green, tiny bits red, brown, done. As it wears it looks better.
@@carterskindle7086 There are some low plants in my woods that are red, I let a very small amount show through, or hit it again with tiny highlights. I wanted to use a primer base coat, chose red, could have gone with gray
I think camo patterns this small will blend into a solid color at any distance that the target is likely to be at. Instead of a black rifle, I think they’ll see a medium green rifle, which is admittedly better. But how about a bolder pattern that breaks the outline of the weapon into just a few sections? (Don’t hate me, I love me some camo.)
I always get asked by ppl who see my rattle can jobs - they want to know how I did the prep. Did I completely disassemble everything, clean it with brake cleaner, all kinds of wild time consuming things they ask about. It's always funny when I tell them all I do is wipe it down and put a little painters tape on a few spots. People like to over think and over complicate things I guess.
Hi Sir. I am working on my fiberglass Jungle SKS stock customization, and the final step is the paint job. Gathering information about adhesion abilities of two (2) brands - KRYLON vs RustOleum. If you have couple minutes, please give me brief opinion based on your gun painting experience. Why do you prefer KRYLON? Why, in your opinion, it is better than RustOleum. Don't want to start my first gun painting project with wrong choice. Thanks in advance for any provided info.
In my personal experience, Krylon adheres better to metal than Rustoleum does, and is just a better overall paint. The Rustoleum does fine though when applied on top of another paint. So a Krylon based with Rustoleum on top works fine.
Is that bronze finish on the rifle in the beginning just how the light is hitting it or is it actually that dark bronze color? I kind of just want my rifle to be that color.
@@AlphaCharlieConcepts 10-4 thanks 👍. My guns spend a lot of time in storage, so I usually oil them up pretty good after use. I always figured that an ar will run dirty, but not dry, so oil dripping everywhere was better in case I needed it In a hurry. I'll give them a few sprays of break parts cleaner before I paint them.
If anyone is hesitant to paint their AR15, start with a shovel or even a flashlight. It's not as hard as you think. It's okay to walk before you run.
Flashlight is a really good idea so you get practice stenciling a round object
My old shroud is screaming under several layers of paint 🤣
Start with mags too

I painted a Fleshlight, and my wife lost it in a dark musty hole....
This is hands down the best A-TACS IX like paint job I've seen. Looks like it would blend in very well in every season in the Southeast.
BEST video I've seen on painting rifles. I have stencils and searched high and low for a stencil video. THANK YOU !!!!

For some of the turret markings, you can use wide rubber bands. Have done such a couple times.

As someone who works with paint, the blue tape is the best. The old beige tape is very hard to remove, especially if you leave it on a couple days.

Much better than the base black of a weapon, that's the exact reason in our Special Forces we cam up our weaponry before taking to the field on ops 👌🏻

Nice job
I use a sniper Vail to make a snake skin type pattern on my rifles and it also camos the Vail
Throttle body cleaner works great for prep. Takes about 2 minutes
Excellent primer (sorry for the pun) on camo painting.
There is a Dull Clear Coat out there. A clear coat will protect the camo from hand & glove wear and sun fading.
There's no reason to protect it. The more it wears and fades the better it works.

What scope is it 😂
Just picked up a couple of primary arms stencils. Now just need to remove the camo wrap and try and be creative. 😨
Any reason to not use some break cleaner right before you hit everything with paint?
You could, I’ve just personally never found it to make a difference honestly. Not unless the outside of your gun is just really oily.
