That's why the back has both velcro and a zipper pouch. The army was supposed to choose one or the other. The X harness also has a cheap stemped metal clip for the straps, which was just something quick they put on because the thing they wanted to use didn't arrive in time for the submission. That's why the TAPS is $60. Big Army literally accepted and then put a prototype into full production. Not even a finished product.

That’s not the issue. The issue is that a surplus taps is $50 and chest rig from an established bar setting company in the industry like say Velocity Systems is actually a couple bucks cheaper.
The extra play on the end pockets is helpful for allowing the magazines to not bind with each other. One of the draw backs of the TAP was, while yes, you can load it down with magazines, PMags would bind. A lot of people convert them to dedicated tourniquet pouches (4 mags in the middle, flanked by TQs, then some other piece of sustainment gear on the ends). The center placement option for the waist strap was an interesting mention. Typically that is one of the standard TAP features that nobody likes.

I love the idea. It’s a solid redesign, offers a lot of modularity, and It’s an overall improvement of the original TAPS. Where surplus TAPS are around $60 right now… this is gonna be hard to sale for many folks right now. 😕
A TAP + the Spiritus TAPS Upgrade is going to cost you a little over $200. The zipper insert from AXL for something like this is another $40. The TAP is also poorly designed as soon as you tighten it around your body. Then you've got a dangler that gets in the way going prone. You guys will spend $250 making an outdated piece of surplus kit work 70% as good and not run the dangler that comes with it. I think the plate fitting in the front might be useful in some kind of civilian (Or at least non- military) capacity. Maybe you're doing something where you might be moving long distance for a long period of time, and don't know what exactly you're getting into, and don't have the ability to throw on a plate carrier when you need it. Maybe you think that you might be getting into a dangerous situation, depending on where you're going, so you decide to reach into your bag and shove a plate in the front, just in case. This means you can comfortably carry a lot of gear for the long ruck, more than you could with a plate carrier, but still have the ability to throw a plate in just in case. Just an idea for a use case
Looks like a great rig to run in minimalist mode to throw on in the middle of the night to home-guard check out possible intruders outside or inside at the house. I like the option to stick a front plate in that backside pounch for that purpose. So, why not offer separately a simple, large pouch to hook on to the H-harness in the back for a rear plate for that same home-guard purpose. If you don't offer such a pounch, customers will be figuring ways to substitute a pouch from some other source. Also a great rig for out and about.

Eagle RRV can run a plate and repros are being made now. But if yours can be integrated with a pack to carry a rear plate in a better way than the guys were doing in early GWOT with the MAP pack then you really might be on to something

Was looking for something like this. Might use this with my HRT Hrac plate carrier. I have their upgraded cummerbund with the molle so i can still add pouches if needed.
Bought one and just received it today. Overall it's a great chest rig but there is one design flaw. Admin pouch zipper is pretty useless when you have a chest rig on you. The zippers are restricted via harness buckles that are coming out of the main body so you can't fully open the admin pouch. It works great and the opening is wide but only if you are not wearing it. This should be addressed and changed to make it more useful. Second thing, a version without harness and back strap would be a good idea as even though the supplied h harness is great and back strap is well done the wise man company HX Hybrid Harness is far superior. I used it straight away at mine and now I am left with a spare harness and back strap. Quick size adjustment via one tri glide on the trex arms back strap could be a bit fiddly to adjust when compared to the double tri glide system used via WMC. Also the wide harness is a lot more comfortable than average h harness (either t rex or mayflower ultra comp etc trex did nothing wrong here :) ) Ohh and esstac tall inserts can be used and works well with 762x39 akm mags so you can have nice kydex retention with these annoying mags.

Yeah that was the SOP for all of 2nd marine division up until about 2021, a little bulky with the older generation plate carriers but it was a good way to keep all the shit you needed when switching between missions
Most exciting part was the ability to take a plate. But only medium is a little sad. A large or XL plate version with the full 8 mag cell would be worth buying for sure. Theres a hole in the market for single plate carriers for ruck use
is there any way to 2-3 stack magazines w Velcro partitions? 6:04 what you could put in there as well is either paracord/ fabric and pull tab to get the 20rd mag out 7:06 oh that's fking cool. what would be the constraint on putting Velcro on the sides for an insert? 10:01 why not put a cummerbund on it then? 13:47 what radio is that, and is it available on civilian market?
Will this fit 7.62x51 mags? I was considering picking one of these to have along side the quad flap to see which I like more, but I want it to be able to handle both 5.56x45 and 7.62x51. I will purchase one if its compatible.
Does it have the same issue as the taps when running thebesstac kywis in all the pockets? They begin to close and the kywis begin to sit very akwardly and re-indexing become difficult whcih makes the point of the kywis kind of non exsistent over the regular shcok cord closure or flaps
Does anyone know if the harness and the back strap are easily adjustable? Similar to the Beez Combat system AR chest rig where you pull a couple tabs and it fits to your body?

Ohh and esstac tall inserts can be used and works well with 762x39 akm mags so you can have nice kydex retention with these annoying mags.
very cool!... well thought out ideas!
I love the Modularity improvements to probably the best peice of kit issued over the past 30yrs. IDK why this hasn't been done much sooner. It's like you took every Con about the Taps and made it a Pro. It would be great if you included the Plate Strap with the kit for the Scrappers picking up Battlefield LootDrops
I do like that it is possible to carry a plate, for somebody that maybe in a vehicle understand that also might not be very practical at the same time, very interesting though.
Could you guys please do a video on the pros and cons of a slick plate carrier and a normal plate carrier? It would be really nice to know which style would be best for us before buying.
5 mag 308 version please. Or I'll finally get that beez unit I keep looking at.
Would be great if you add loop on one side of the plate webbing, now you have a new spot for your flag, frees up more of the rig.
I just can’t get behind you taking a $40-$60 product and selling your own version of it for $250+ after buying pouches
It's not a TAPS dude you should be mad at basically every chest rig manufacturer if this triggers you
@@IM2BASED4THISPLACEyour reading comprehension is fucking astonishing. He’s upset about this shithead overpricing his products, when even the industry titans sell it for $200 cheaper than what this kid is asking for.
This product would be neat if they didn’t mark it up so heavily. No reason to get this over a taps rig that is literally half the cost.
I can see a markup if it's made in the US and made from quality materials.. but a 5 times mark up...
@@DDDDDDD749 taps rig is like 5x as less too lol
Can confirm fits 6 ak mags comfortably.. not barely, fits and the mags can be extracted for easy reloads..
Id recommend using the 308 10speeds if youre gomna put one on the front. more versitility
ten speeds are goated
Smart.
I had to wear the ACU pattern TAPS in Kosovo, and lets just say I killed it with fire. It was even worse on the IOTV. This looks like it's probably way more comfortable, and I admit, I'm considering pulling the trigger.
When will you have more green Triple Mag Placards instock ???????????? Pleeeese!
I love the green with the coyote buckles. Pls don’t change that
Please release that plate adapter thingy, we have all been looking for a chest rig that you can put a plate in.
Having a back plate H-harness adapter would be 🔥 especially for people who are wanting an all in one chest rig/plate carrier. Idk how realistic that would be though
TAPS was one of the best issued gear pieces we had.
We attached it directly to our plate carries.
Lose weight lol
For the plate carrier part. I like that it's very low profile. Too bad you can't make a light weight rear carrier pouch.
is there any way to 2-3 stack magazines w Velcro partitions?
6:04 what you could put in there as well is either paracord/ fabric and pull tab to get the 20rd mag out
7:06 oh that's fking cool. what would be the constraint on putting Velcro on the sides for an insert?
10:01 why not put a cummerbund on it then?
13:47 what radio is that, and is it available on civilian market?
Genuine question: can this work as a "placard" on a spiritus systems lv119 with tubular cummerbunds??
Will this fit 7.62x51 mags? I was considering picking one of these to have along side the quad flap to see which I like more, but I want it to be able to handle both 5.56x45 and 7.62x51. I will purchase one if its compatible.
Look what it needs to mimic the fraction of the full power of the FLC
The FLC is trash. Move on from 2007 please.
I'm not sure USA made means as much as it used to. What's the QC sample size per lot? Are the materials used held to the same standard?
Does it have the same issue as the taps when running thebesstac kywis in all the pockets? They begin to close and the kywis begin to sit very akwardly and re-indexing become difficult whcih makes the point of the kywis kind of non exsistent over the regular shcok cord closure or flaps
Does anyone know if the harness and the back strap are easily adjustable? Similar to the Beez Combat system AR chest rig where you pull a couple tabs and it fits to your body?
Tasmanian tiger mk2 has entered the chat …
Can you fit .308 mags in all the mag pouches?
Yes he said no probs
@@lukewarm2075 The way he said it made me think you can only fit them in the outer two pouches
I would buy this if it came with a plate carrier insert. But it’s comparable price wise to several other American made chest rigs. They are relatively the same
May be worth losing a couple of the more labor-intensive features to bring production cost down for some folks.
No velcro on front, minimalistic admin pouch, no wing pouches and a simplified harness. This would save a lot of tayloring and cost
Man crazy how LBT does this but better and cheaper. Crazy how its like that.
lol
the chest rig looks pretty neat, but why did you switch from black to tan with all the accent pieces?
Black is bright under night vision
@@Mcallen1130 never thought of that, but thats a fair point.
To those complaining about the price. I believe 225 is reasonable, as I recall BFG sells their SF chest rig at 260 without the exclusive pouches. We need to note that the market has changed, and these products are tailored more efficiently for the end user.
Add some pals webbing to that plate cover and you have an RRV with a removable bib (basically)
Any reason why the back strap or y strap doesnt come in black or grey?
I’d love this. Currently run the TT Chest rig. This also has the option to run a front plate, but it’s too elastic and droops. Would love this since it’s modular.
If you haven't, offer 2 sizes. This one, and one just like the TAP. That would be nice.
Any ideas of modern belt line gear like Alice systems since the Army is moving possibly to those systems?
jeez 225-240!
Yeah. I like what I see but not at that price. I'd order one today if it was $175. I kinda worry that T-Rex is pushing this higher price point for all their gear going forward.
@@groberts1980it’s only 3x a new coyote TAPS rig at $80. This is a small (not gov contract) business and civilian oriented modern solution that is SIMILARILY priced to other commercial military chest rigs. You are free to buy 10-20 year old used TAPS and accessories to build out as you need at whatever time and cost you prefer… or buy this if it suits you.
Just don’t be poor…
Agreed. Anyone who pays this much money for a product like this deserves to part with it. There’s gotta be something said about not being dumb with money, even if you have it.
Give it a month or two and there will be a Hong Kong airsoft knock off of it.
Should have made an LBE like the velocity/crossfire. Sustainment is the way to go in the coming collapse 🥴
Looking at LBE's now, I feel like there's only a handful of options but tons of good use for them.
@@zackn8745 when I was in RR I used and H harness, 4 ammo pouches, 2 canteen pouches, buttpack and 2 small utility pouches. It served me and most everyone else real well. I’ve upgraded the belt over the years and a few of the pouches but it still works just as good as the $350-500 LBEs made now. You probably can get all that listed for $100(GI surplus).
What's that tear away medkit?
I beez in the traps beez in the traps
I love the modernization of older equipment but a velcro panel and extra buckle doesn't equate to a 250 bone price tag. The lack of features has this kinda underwhelming
Kinda like Tarkov guys… you can have this only for 250$ but guys!! We put so much into development and testing! 😂
Coming from a tarkov guy...facts 🤣
What about a rig designed for .308?
The quad flap is a good one
Can I run dmr mags with this rig?
Looks sick. Curious why you didn't do the same radio pouch you did for the quad flap chest rig?
It was hard to fit into the design with how it’s sewn together. So we opted for a more simple pocket with extra volume sewn in.
Condor has something very similar for less than 50 bucks.
We will be coming full circle soon enough.
If you like China, sure.
@@TREXARMORY I'm sure you like your phone, laptop, tablet, car as well?
@@spartanpatriot3163Condor is trash. Grow up.
You sell Chinese products dingus😂😂😂
Alternately you can buy a TAPs for $50, add $15 of material and make the same thing. Another $30 for a different harness.
Much better than paying top tier prices for a mid-tier manufacturer.
For those of you complaining about price, yes it’s too expensive. However, there’s nothing like it on the market that I’ve seen. Go get something else if you want to spend less. The world of 20 dollar kit died years ago. I hate that things are this expensive too but you buy once, you cry once. OR just get a taps rig and a sewing machine and have fun
This is literally a Rhodesian with velcro on the front and mag pouches you cannot change instead of molle that allowed you to choose what you wanted to hold your mags with.
Any plans for a split rig?
jeeeeez thats a heavy price.Still condor 7 pocket my best rig for last 9 years
Just an idea, but maybe a 3l bladder that can be stand alone OR replace the H harness
Sth like the Haley strategic flat pack?
@@CyberKatze does that incorporate right into it? I don’t have any Haley stuff
@@MichaelSmith-lf6yc the shoulder straps can be mounted directly to a chest rig with their buckles so it basically replaced the harness. If you take the shoulder strap design and put it on a 3l CamelBak then you got what you want
There are some usgi camelbacks that also have those buckles on their shoulder straps but unlike the Harley you couldn't adjust the chest rig in height
It comes in woodland 🎉
Where are the rigs for the PCC market?? PCCs have exploded in the last six years. We need rigs for 30-35 round 9mm mags. Make one! I’ll buy it!
I want to see this in conjunction with ac1
Man I'm such a sucker for your guys products lol
I have a design idea for a rig that could be pretty useful for a partisan fighting force.
Thought TRex developed and sold product’s that the majority could afford. 3x’s+ the price of other rigs that’s been literally battle worn/tested.
Remember it's brand new and you are paying for it. The TAPs is second hand and maybe used. The TAPs rig costs more than $60 new, but the federal government already paid full price.
I scoffed at the idea of this being $250, but after some thought I get it… and I’ll probably get it.
💯 it’s just a price tag 🏷️ sticker flash… same as ALL modern new USA made tactical gear. I like the updates. Though I would be open to buy just the panel too.
I guess the “mass building phase” that Prof. Frink (Lucas 😂) was telling us about 6 months ago didn’t work out 😬
wasn't there an eagle chest rig from the early gwot era that could take a plate? I wonder if the plate would chafe just being stuffed in an admin pouch
Rhodesian rig can hold a plate but it seems very difficult to get.
Condor has the modular chest rig which did that
Eagle industries Rhodesian Rig also holds a plate
@@davidb9323they’re always on eBay
I was just looking at the quad flap a couple weeks ago and wished TRA would have something closer to TAPS. How about that.
Zing
The Eagle Industries RRV takes a front plate without adding or removing anything.
