For OpenTherm, check where the OT connections go to for X12 on the board (p26 of the Installation and service instructions) are connected on the 4-way terminal block. The Terminal block is not numbered in the instructions (unhelpful from Viessmann!) and the labeling on the black plastic should be ignored. Buzz them out with a multi-meter back to X12 on the board. I found the OT terminal on the block are 3 for OT- & 4 form OT+, unlike Alan's connection in the video which shows connections 1 & 2. Having changed to connections 3 & 4 .... the F95 error (no OpenTherm connection) has gone away!!!!! 👍👍 Also remember to change the "Operating Mode" (C.7) to 14 - OpenTherm, via the Commissioning, (p32 of the Installation and service instructions). 👍👍
Absolutely correct with this board markings, the black plastic is marked up incorrectly and Veissmann know about it? I’ve just had this problem too but only just read the comments. Wired a Salus OT thermostat up to terminals 1 & 2 but also wired in the external temp sensor to terminals 3 & 4. Boiler wouldn’t work correctly when set to OpenTherm control on commissioning, showing a red triangle fault error 95, no connection to OpenTherm? Thought the thermostat was at fault, the service guy on help desk knew of this issue and said the chock block markings are upside down so swap them around. 1 & 2 for external thermostat and 3 & 4 for OpenTherm connections. All worked spot on after that! What about Quality Control or at least a memo with the boiler. 😮
Today I tried to install Netatmo Modular Thermostat with Relay that has OpenTherm. Also connected the same way like Allen did but got 95 error. So I study the documentation schema and saw that it might be upside down and O.T is on the right side as in the docs are on the left. So I switched that but still I have 95 code. :/ for God Sake I don't know what is wrong with that damn thing. Doesn't matter where I connect black or grey yes? Maybe I should flip those cables. I'm totally confused. But let me get this clear are we talking about the same Boiler? 050-W B0HA-25 ? I even checked all 6 variations , 1&2 at the beginning, 3&4, 2&4, 1&3, 1&4, 2&3. Nothing. I removed also the link on 96 port. I don't know maybe I should consider this to Viessmann and report that the motherboard opentherm is damaged ?
Good video. You can do multiple zones with EPH controls over OpenTherm, DHW too. Be interested to see the BeSMART connected to see what info the Viessmann can provide. The OpenTherm connections look like an afterthought stuck onto the back of the controls tray and the wiring and controls box a bit fiddly.
You didn't mention how to wire outdoor weather compensate into the boiler connection block. Or is outdoor weather compensate control dead in the water nowadays?
It’s true but the vicare thermostat does not have a display, you are forced to use your phone. What happens if you break your phone diplay or lose internet connection ?how will you control that thermostat 😅
I've just checked the wiring diagram on my brand new 100-w heat only and it doesn't look like it has the wires (only 3&4 for the outside sensor). Have Viessmann discontinued it or something?
I bought a smart thermostat and only the two red and white cables come, the common blue cable is not connected to the boiler, so the smart thermostat does not work, what can I do, where do I install the blue cable in the boiler?
We tried to connect the vitodens 050 to hive and we had to use terminals x12 terminals 3/4 on drawing boiler OTS , on hive receiver 1/3 , setting on boiler c7 13 in menu all good .
As always great video Allen👍 I found challenging as well taking the casing off. Didn’t help that Viessmann sent the wrong instructions with the boiler( older viessmann). I’m still not sure how to take the casing off. On Saturday I’m going to commission the boiler so hopefully I can take the casing off. Do you just push both the two catches up to remove the casing? Thanks for the video. I have this boiler. It won’t let me adjust the DHW or the Heating loop temperature directly on the boiler, I press the up and down arrows but nothing happens. I wired it up for opentherm on my nest gen 3 is this why? Does it do automatically with opentherm instead and blocks out the manual adjustment? Thanks in advance
Hi Allen, I have netamto relay opentherm but after doing exactly how you did and connecting this relay my Boiler shows issue. After checking the error code it shows 95 which is lack of opentherm communication. I can't understand what's the problem.
Pretty sure you need to go into commission mode on the boiler and change it to Opentherm mode instead of the normal switch on/off mode. It’s in the manual

@@AllenHart999 I am guessing this is not native opentherm as there are people who are saying it does not support opentherm, i am looking through various articles and blogs and there is just not much pointing to say it does, so is it through the KM BUS or something else? There are people saying that it invalidates the warranty. I am trying to find a system boiler that supports opentherm natively or if through another controller then that's fine providing it works well, but want to make sure i don't invalidate the warranty, this is for an extension i will be doing this year, so basically will be stripping the old one out and put a new one with ufh and radiators and try and get the best setup for condensing. Appreciate your input.
Why there's a loop on the on/off thermostat connection ? I now have an on/off thermostat linked there and I want to wire an opentherm one. I have to make the loop too ?

Hi - just had a 050-w installed with a nest 3rd gen. Neat complaining it can’t detect opentherm and the boiler complaining about F95. Any thoughts? The boiler is just doing it’s own thing right now so I’m having to manually set flow temp
@@AllenHart999 he wasn’t too sure either. Wiring looked good to OT1/2, set with C7-14, nest set to opentherm but reported issue not detecting opentherm. Will need to wait until tomorrow

This boiler also works with the ViCare wireless thermostat and the ViCare app. No wiring needed.

OpenTherm will override the boiler front key settings, so do it on stat controller

You need the installer back. It may need setting up correctly
