@@kpdvw that's a rare occurrence in the mountains of Idaho it don't get that hot there or humid for that to happen. They been storing it there for several years without any problems, besides it gets plenty of air there to dry the hay out. What you're talking about usually occurs when wet hay is being stored into a enclosed area that gets hot and very humid without a lot of air flow.

That's awesome 😎👍🏼 the man gave you that Kentucky Bluegrass Sod that's a very generous thing he done for you. Because back here on the east coast that sod is very expensive. I'd have dropped everything too to go get every cube of that i could Heath. But you must by all means extend that deer fence up the hillside. Because even if you fill in all that deer pin with Kentucky Bluegrass Sod & get it established theyll have it killed in no time & back to bare dirt again. Because its simply not enough acreage and over grazing of too many animals and now with Fawns the population is higher and more hooves on the ground. So its essential you must extend their grazing area up the mountainside. Or otherwise all your hard work with this Sod will be in vain because no stand of ground can withstand that much foot traffic and over grazing unless its a large tract of land. Not trying to tell you what to do but from a man (myself) Who's had as many as 25 goats 🐐 on a 2 acre tract of land at once i can tell you they'll simply wear it down to the dirt and kill all the grass period because it's too much hoof traffic on such a small acreage. I'm just saying if i was in your shoes I'd be getting fence up up that hillside as quickly as I possibly could. This will eliminate as much hoof traffic and overgrazing. Id also leave fence dividers I could see they're getting grass real low id move them to different pieces of ground and let the patch of ground they was on rest and give it a chance to revitalize itself and grow back. This way you never end up with a bald patch of ground like you have now. Just advice 😁👍🏼

I had the opportunity to meet your wonderful wife and her mother at the local farmers market last Wednesday. We were there selling our honey. I have no doubt that you will enjoy the bottle that Cedar bought from us. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a little bit star struck when she and her mother approached our booth. I've watched nearly every RPR video that you've put out. Your wife is an incredible person and it was great to meet her and her mother. And "chit chat" with them for a few minutes. Her mother spoke of you and your herding of the cows with your drone. I have no doubt that they recognize all your hard work and the vast improvements that you continue to make on RPR.

How has the weather been up there? We've been experiencing some interesting weather here in North TX. It regularly should be in the high 90s and low 100s. Yet we have had a lot fewer days in the 100s. The last few days it was hardly above the high 80s and right now in late July, it is 85. Not complaining as it doesn't tax the grid and keeps the cost of running the AC. God Bless and thanks for all the hard work.

Having deer to watch is certainly cool, but if you’re going to have them you should go out and feed the babies with a bottle a couple or few times a week so you build a close relationship with them. That way the deer will eventually all come to you and allow you to be near them and pet them. At least you’ll get more than just the scenery of them for all the time and money you put into them.
We all have different desires and different animals make us happy, but if I had your place, I’d have a couple steer, milking cow and goat, sheep, donkeys (not only are they loveably animals, but they great protection against predators) goats, chickens and perhaps a couple pigs. Having these animals around would require additional work and expenses, but as they have babies eventually you can occasionally bring in a mobile butcher and fill a couple freezers if/when you wanted.

I will admit I have mixed feelings about the deer and the goats being gone. The goats were always fun to watch and were good for managing the growth on the hillside. The deer are awesome but it is a little sad to see so many living in such a small patch with nothing but dirt. I hope the new sod and grass take but access of the deer to it will probably have to remain restricted for a long time or it will just be reduced back to dirt. Hopefully there are plans to open up a much larger area for the deer, but with all the regulations that seems like a lot of work.

I know it's easy to tell from the outside but the only people you need to impress are your wife, your children (as role model) and yourself. Your parents and even your in-laws have no say in how to live your life. They've done their job in raising you to the person you are right now. You're on the right path, so keep moving. Let others have their opinion, nod and move on with *your* thing.
P.S. I give the deer a week to figure out how to jump over that fence 😅
