Maps can be wall art when you get back home, scribble, pics, receipts, get people you meet to mark your map, stick it on your map, mine even have food stains.love your journeys young lady!

I love the match stick mile measurements the maps provide so I know exactly how far it is for my next soda🥤and burger 🍔😂. Also, the info the ACA maps provide for towns and services is invaluable, as long as you check for updates before heading out. I do love my Garmin as well to track all my ride data and the uploaded gpx files come in handy too. And lastly, the smart phone….its a camera, a map, a web device, a music/video player and of course, a telephone. We have it so easy these days 😃 PedalOn! Another great video, Aspen.
We definitely have it easy!! I just use my basic GPS to track miles and upload to Strava. I don’t think I’ve ever used the actual navigation on it. Ha.
Great video and I am on your side when it comes to the ACA maps. I have also done the pacific coast and these maps are great. In fact I put them through a color copier and cut up the panels and laminate them for ease of use without having to open the full map and this also give extra durability. Not everyone would do this, but for me it helps. Thanks Aspen for the video and way to go ACA on your maps. I highly recommend them for any ACA routes you might be traveling.

For anyone who isn't a fan of paper maps, Adventure cycling also has an app where you can download any of the individual route maps for navigation. They also include many of the features included on the paper maps. The entire Pacific Coast 5-map paper set will run you about $80 whereas the digital set of 5 maps is about $49. You can find the app by searching for Bicycle Route Navigator in your favorite app store. A big advantage to the digital maps is that they are updated with current route information whereas the paper maps are only current as to the date that they were printed so it's essential to check the website for any current map updates before using them. So fun to see a young person gravitating to paper maps. I did Canada to Mexico in 1976 (yes we had bikes back in the dark ages, lol) at age 17 with a high school buddy. All we had were Rand McNally gas station paper maps to use from Vancouver Island to Tijuana. Stuck to the 1 and 101 as much as possible and took it as it came. Sometimes the lack of information makes the adventure better. Good for you to recommend it. And the ACA maps, known as Bikecentenial in 1976 for the country’s Bicentennial that year are really great now. Love your videos!
I couldn’t imagine getting to ride the coast as a 17 year old….much less in the 70’s (I think I missed my era). What an adventure. Thanks for watching!! :)
I clicked on the video thinking, "If she says I need a GPS, I'm unsubscribing!" LOL I love Adventure Cycling maps. They add SO MUCH to the experience! The only thing I kinda don't like is how the panels have different scale. That threw me off a little as map person.
Hahaha!! And totally agree about the scale. Have you came across a panel where the north bound/south bound orientation changes? It’s hard to explain, but those throw me for a loop!! Ha! Thanks for watching. :)
