    Parkinsonian Gait Demonstration
    This type of gait is seen with rigidity and hypokinesia from basal ganglia disease. The patient's posture is stooped forward. Gait initiation is slow and steps are small and shuffling; turning is en bloc like a statue.

    Thank you for your demonstration. However, may I comment on a detail at 40 seconds into the video. I believe you're saying the word, "FENESTRATED".....but I believe you meant to say, "FESTINATING'.....Fenestration refers to a surgical procedure of opening a passage through a wall in the body such as what ENT might do when performing a SINUS FENESTRATION in a person with chronic blockage due to an abnormality in mucus drainage or an optic nerve sheath FENESTRATION whereby the optic nerve sheath is open or FENESTRATED by the neurosurgeon to relieve CSF pressure. FESTINATION is the term used to describe a parkinsonian gait as you are doing above. Cheers!

    This seems like it must be at more advanced stages. I wonder what it looks like earlier in the progression of the disease

    appreciate the effort... btw it's a festinating gait (not fenestrated).

    Not to nit-pick, but I think presenter said "fenestrated" (has windows) gait when he meant "festinating" (hurrying) gait.

    medico files Parkinson's disease is characterized by static tremor and there is no tremor during movement as in cerebellar @
    syndrome

    • @sketchymicroproject428
      @sketchymicroproject428 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cerebellar tremor is characterized by "intention tremor". As in, when the patient reaches for something. Although the presenter is "moving", the upper-limb tremor is still accurate because he is not actively reaching with his arms.

    Not my experience - particularly the ‘shake’. A Parkinson ‘shake’ to which everybody seems to refer is not a shake but a tremor. The tremor is best described as ‘pill rolling’ between the thumb and the forefinger on the dominant side of the body and is exacerbated through stress. Only 60% of patients present with any form of tremor and extreme cases may be improved by deep brain (sub- thalamic) stimulation.

    Great gait demonstration, but it is not a fenestrated gait that would mean a gait with holes cut in it. . .it was a festinating gait!

    A quibble at 0:40: That should be "festinating gait," not "fenestrated gait" (unless they're heading for a window). ;)

    great but all his demos are for old people with full blown disease. Those people dont watch these videos and neither can they be treated hence its useless to show these gaits. only videos of gaits in diseased young people make sense.
