Next time I go to the store I’m going to get some Mexican chocolate and making this! Thanks for explaining the process of this particular cup of hot chocolate so well!
Isn't the Nahuatl word for chocolate translated as "bitter water"? I got hooked on the Mexican chocolate a few years ago, it's sort of like going from bland boiled English food to seasoned Italian food :).
my family's Mexican and really like it with water 😊 I never understood why ppl used milk. Not judging it was just a shocker for me when I found out other ppl used mostly milk for their hot cocoa 😄

I see the Abuelita brand in stores but I haven't tried it yet! Do you recommend that?
Yes it is the perfect Mexican chocolate!
I just made the Ibarra brand with milk.. not much flavor, so I used with my coffee..I’m gonna use use half evaporated next time.
Look for amzn.to/41B01yf this chocolate is made in the US but w Mexican tradition. Very very flavorful

My thought is that the chocolate they use is so bad that milk covers the disappointing flavor. Better quality chocolate with water is amazing!
Personally I used water my whole life to other brands of chocolate but I think abuelita taste better with milk and added sugar
We do it every year our own way but I have to try these proportions.
Easy to remember!
