Hello. I'm trying to set Delayed Actions to shutdown and capture in & End capture after(8:00-17:00), create a QR, send HERO11B, everything is fine but...the camera turns on immediately...why? What am I doing wrong? I want to turn on the camera to film only the day at the construction site, without the night...
Hey Peter, thx for your message. Sorry to hear you are having some issues with GoPro Labs. I've been looking into this one and it's kinda got me a bit confused too. My camera turned off fine after scanning the QR code and then started recording fine but didn't stop when I programmed it too. hmmm. Have you tried using the QR control app? Let me know how you go. I'm still planning on digging into this one some more. If I find anything out I'll let you know. Cheers
I'm glad I saw your video Tim. I noticed when you scrolled through the web page of some of the features of GoPro Labs that there were new features now available. One thing I'm super excited about is the new function available for GoPro 11/Mini, that you now have auto white balance lock. This is so handy for us scuba divers. No need for coloured filters now. Just get to your desired depth point your GoPro at the scene, let it recognise it, then hit record. The white balnce will now be locked, so no more colour shift with white balance as you move around your scene. It's like being able to set a manual white balance under water now 👍👍😱😱😎😎🤿🤿🐋🐋🐠🐠🦈🦈🐢🐢🐬🐬
Hey Adam, That sounds like a great feature that will definitely help when you are underwater. I'd love to see some of your footage using the new settings, mate.
@@AdventureTimMedia Yeah I can't wait to try this feature out. Just looking now for a waterproof grey card/colour checker which I hope will also help with getting good colour/white balance using this feature. The GoPro does a pretty good job using no dive filter and using auto white balnce (like this clip I took at 20m depth with some cheap dive lights th-cam.com/video/y75TjyKJyI8/w-d-xo.html ). Being able to lock the white balance while underwater is a bit of a game changer for those wanting consistent colour in your dive videos at certain depths.
I have a question, I used the lab to get the time of hindsight mode active longer than 15 minutes and scanned the QR code, in the future if I create new QR code for other stuffs and scan, will it the hindsight mode returned to hindsight shut down15 minutes again?
Hey @bladesong2309 , thanks for your comment. From my experience it should keep those settings in your camera. When you turn on your camera, on the rear screen you will momentarily see what gopro labs settings are currently in yr camera. If you add other labs QR codes, they will be added to list of labs that appear on the rear screen. Hope this helps.
I need some guidance please. I film after sunset 5v5 Football. The camera is set up on a pole and we play under floodlights. What settings should work to battle the low light for my hero 12?
Hey CPT, thanks for your comment. Great question btw. Normally when it gets dark I use a WB of 3200 or 4000 . As it's sunset I would probably start at 4000. I would leave the shutter on auto but I would adjust the EV comp to let in a bit more light, maybe increase by one two stops. Try it at +0.5 or +1.0. I would also make sure your iso is set to a Max of 800. any higher and it will look grainy . I hope this helps.
@@AdventureTimMedia thank you for the reply. Jip unfortunately I struggle with the grain. I've actually realised that the software I'm using on my phone also does compression on the footage.
Hey mate , if it's looking too grainy I would decrease the ISO. 400 is ok, but 800 would work best at sunset. Try having min and Max ISO at 800, the same. If you have min at 100 and Max at 800, the gopro will automatically choose the best ISO in between. Using this setting gives you more control over the shot. Compression is common on phones and cameras- ad otherwise files would be too big to be sent. You can zip files but you will lose some of the quality either way. I hope this helps
@@AdventureTimMedia thanks again. I will revisit Iso settings this week. Damn these cameras don't like low light. When we play it's very dark. The flood lights are powerful but the GoPro 12 still doesn't like it.
Hey great video. Didn't know this existed. Is there anything in GoPro Labs on audio like "Gain Level" adjustment? Or possibly "Stereo/Mono" options? I read in a GoPro community forum that there is, but I didn't see it in the video anywhere. What I do involves having the GoPro 11 close to my mouth when I talk and I'd like to lower gain level without having to rig an external mic or anything. Thanks.
Hey _m_d ! Thanks for your comments and so glad that you enjoyed discovering gopro labs in the video. I have done some digging and I think I may have found a solution for you. If you scoot down the link I've provided to 'Audio and media mod extensions' it does have a section where it mentions changing the gain. Basically you copy the code oMGAIN=required dB ( ie.oMGAIN = 5) , open the QR control app and paste it in as the QR command. Put that QR code in front of your gopro with gopro labs installed and the gain will be altered. NB: using the oM prefix will only apply for that power on session. To permanently add that gain level use the prefix !M (ie: !MGAIN =5). I haven't had a chance to try this yet myself , due to work commitments, but I think it might be able to help you. Let me know how it goes. All the best. gopro.github.io/labs/control/extensions/
Hi, I just want to add a date time stamp on every video that I take, I tried and not working, would you please do one QRCode so I can scan or do a video to show how? Thanks.
Hi can you help me with this? I can’t change the setttings I have loaded from earlier and don’t understand why I can’t apply the new ones. When I turn on the camera I just see the same settings on my screen when power on. And nothing happens when in display when I try to add new settings. Why and how to fix this?
Hey @M0LLER75 ! Thanks for your comment and sorry to hear you are having a few issues with GoPro Labs. I have had similar situations in the past and what I had to do was delete all my loaded settings - using the QR control app is the easiest way - and then put the new settings back onto the camera. If you go to the QR Control App, go to the menu marked Extras and then in the FeatureFourCC dropdown menu select !PRESET and scan the QR code, that should change all the presets back to their default state. Give it a go and let me know how it goes. Cheers
@@AdventureTimMedia Thank you that solved the issue. But is there a way to avoid gopro to change to photo, timelaps mode? So it will always stay only in video mode?
Hi James! Thanks for your comment. Awfully sorry I have taken so long to reply. The easiest way is to go to the QR Control app, swipe to the extras tab, use the drop down to find the Feature FourCC code for your option - which sounds like it might be WAKE from your description. Ensure the box next to the word 'Permanent' is ticked, hold your GoPro up to the QR code, and you should be good to go. Hope this helps. All the best.
G'day Tim love your videos is there a way to make it so hindsight doesn't pause or turn off if you don't start recording after a certain period of time using gopro labs? I am using a Gopro hero 12 Black for fishing videos.
Hey @akhecktor! Thanks so much for your comment Sorry I've taken a couple of days to get back to you, but I think I have the solution, If you open the 'QR Control ' App. Swipe across to the Extras page, then use the Feature FourCC box to scroll down to HSTO. Here in the input data box you can enter the number of minutes you want to set for the Hindsight timeout. The default is 15 mins, but if you put in 60, the timeout will be an hour, If you enter 1440 it would be 24 hours. Hope this helps! Thanks again for your kind words - i appreciate your support, mate. Happy fishing! Hope you catch a swag of them.
@AdventureTimMedia awesome stuff Tim! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain how to do this, after I posted that last comment I found a comment on your hindsight video where someone was also asking how to specify the hindsight timeout and you replied to them with a link to a gopro forum where someone said how to specify the hindsight timeout, it was a slightly different way so I have installed the gopro labs and QR code app and did what it said in the forum and it seems to be working but haven't tested it in the field yet which is the big test but I think the way you described is easier to follow the steps and is more definite.I reckon you could make a video on this subject alone i have come across a lot of threads where people are asking this question Thanks again for the kind words.
Hey SGT, Thanks for your comment! If you click on the link and input your time and date to create a new QR code, and then scan it with your GP you should be on your way. If you have any questions or you would like me to make a little video, please let me know. All the best. gopro.github.io/labs/control/overlays/
Hey fahmiramadhan! Sorry to taking so long to get back to you - I do apologize. Which one of the features to you wish to return to normal? The easiest way is using the QR control app - swiping to the Extras tab - and then using the Four digit code for the setting that you wish to remove - (ie.LEVL , which displays an onscreen spirit level on the screen) - and then inputing the data level that will remove the setting- usually zero. When you hold up your gopro, it will find the QR code and change the setting for you To remove all GoPro labs setting from you camera, on the Extras tab, select !RESET from the dropdown at the top of the page, hold up your camera to the QR code and all your labs settings will be gone. Yes, absolutely! gopro labs just opens you up to a ton of new options ! Have fun with your new 11 mini. It will capture some great footage while you are cycling!
Hey playercool003! Gopro Labs is also available for the Hero 12 by following the same process I outline in the video. This was filmed in March 2023 using the Hero 11. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hey TIm, great video man. I noticed in your video there was a little green bar at the bottom of your GoPro showing the sound level. How did you do that?
Hey ArmyJosh! Thanks for your comment. The green bar of lights is due to my GoPro being in the media mod. The lights appear as soon as you pop your camera into the housing. I think there is a GOPRO Labs option where you can add it to your camera too, but I am struggling to find one that works. When I do I will let you know. All the best.
Hey CycleMan2200! Thanks for your comment! If you are using 16:9 the only 2.7K option is 240fps and the hero 12 no longer has the Narrow lens. The last model to have that lens was the Hero 10. The lowest or smallest lens option is now Linear with Horizon levelling which is still pretty versatile. If you do want 2.7K you have to change your aspect ratio to 4:3 where you have 60 or 120fps and three lens options - including wide. A better option - if you want 24fps would be to go with 8:7. The default lens is wide and your resolution options are 4k or 5.3K with 10-bit colour. This resolution and the 10-bit colour is really going to look far better than 2.7 K and you can crop your footage to 16:9 or 9:16 in post. I hope this helps. All the best.
Hey Rosta! thanks for your comment. If you check out the link to the github page you will find links to a lot of the options available along with the QR codes. I've made a couple of videos showing how the gopro labs videos come out. What options were you most interested in ?
@@AdventureTimMedia Hi ,, I don't see anything there, can you send me a link where it is? I am looking for a QR code that will set my Gopro 12 camera to the best possible image quality. I'm going on vacation and don't have time to try all the settings etc. it's my first camera. probably something with the HDR settings. I will be in nature in the mountains, waterfalls, forests, etc
After installing GoPro Labs, the camera automatically reads all the codes it sees and becomes unmanageable. How can I disable automatic QR code recognition and make the camera an independent device?????????
Hey mate, thanks for your comment. You can remove all the Labs presets by going to the QR Control app, selecting the Extras menu and then choosing !RESET from the Feature Four CC drop down menu. A message will appear on the rear screen telling you to press the shutter button three times to turn off GoPro Labs. I hope this helps.
Scanning this command will wiper all the GoPro Labs settings you have on your camera. If you want to have your GP turn on when it connects to another power source you would then need to rescan that QR code.
Hey @pavremerelentiumilinisimi ! Thanks for your comment. There are limited instructions on the site, but I find the app called QR Control much easier to use. You can download it from the app store or Google play. Was there a particular goprp lab you wanted to know more information about ?
Hey @abhinikam105 ! What issue are you having with low light? At night I normally shoot with a higher ISO - normally 800 but no more than 1600 - and shoot with a WB of 3200 or 4000 and that normally works out ok. If you are not moving when you are filming I would def recommend turning off hyper smooth and fixing your gopro to a tripod. I hope this helps.
After I installed gopro labs, the quality of the image dropped drastically, especially in the shadow areas! the settings are the same! Gopro goes from failure to failure!
Hey Copilul, thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear your bad experience with GoPro Labs. I haven't noticed any difference in image quality but I did notice the screen brightness decreased greatly after the installation. I just changed it by swiping down , swiping right, preferences, display. What gopro do you have ? I was using the Hero 11 in this video.
Hey there, thanks for your comment! You are correct I do live in a land of PAL but I just find 60fps works just as well when I play back on my TV. Thanks for watching.
Hey JP. Thanks for your comments. Using GoPro Labs won't void your warranty as you are not changing anything on - or inside - your camera. Gopro actually has a whole selection of QR codes they have created on the website I mentioned in the video. I hope this helps .
@@AdventureTimMedia I’m really great full for your time you spending to reply to this, thank you 🙏🏻 . If you don’t mind I have one more question. Do we keep all the stock presets after the firmware change. Or do we have to keep scanning the QR?

@@AdventureTimMedia thanks for the reply. As much i love the settings with GPL, i just dont understand why you can enable and disable the unique settings on the camera. Example, i set shutter speed 45 degrees with the code, that setting is hardwired on my camera now. If i need to change it, cause i like tinkering with different senarios, without an alternate code, and i dont have it on me, im screwed.
Hey Nutrini, you can reset your shutter speed by using the QR control app . You can also set the setting for permanent or only for use this time by ticking a box on the app. worst case scenario you can fully remove GPL from your gopro. Let me know if you need any further help.
Hey Pavremerelentiumimus ! Thanks for watching! You are right! GoPro Labs started in 2020 but every year more and more features are added! Have you had fun using GoPro Labs?
These features are based on a system of commands and originally it would so you could program the camera to do something complex. For example record videos at certain intervols with certain settings. You can actually write a little script and print it in a qr code that you can keep with you in your camera bag. Want the GoPro to do a little pre programed time lapse? Just flash that qr code. The qr system was for handling complex settings and programs without having to use the touch screen menu at all. In the video above it looks tedious but it's because he is only using simple features. Think about it like this - the GoPro has a preset menu, and you can create extremely specific presets, but the GoPro is capable of hundreds of small adjustments. This could never be navigated reliably on the tiny screen so GoPro only shows the major stuff. If I want a specific video quality, a specific bitrate, custom picture profile outside of vivid/natural/flat, a specific min and max iso and shutter, ect, I can simply build one qr code and print it on a card. Simply flashing that in front of the overides everything in the gopro and guarantees it's going to do exactly what it's supposed to. It's really incredible when you think about it. It's a perfectly reliable accessibility feature with access to over 100 developer settings. No need to even use the tiny souch screen. Gloves? Underwater? No problem at all

This resolution and the 10-bit colour is really going to look far better than 2.7 K and you can crop your footage to 16:9 or 9:16 in post. I hope this helps. All the best.
Awesome stuff Tim! Will try it when I get home from work! 🤙🏽
Hey mate. Glad you liked it. Let me know how you go. I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you. Cheers.
Is there a website where the codes are already ready for download with a sample of what the resulting video will look like?
Hey Rosta! thanks for your comment.
@@AdventureTimMedia if I do this, will I still be able to power the camera from external power sources?
Scanning this command will wiper all the GoPro Labs settings you have on your camera. If you want to have your GP turn on when it connects to another power source you would then need to rescan that QR code.
What actually happens if you select a preset? I really miss the respons from the website or app what settings are selected if you apply a preset.
Hey sten6537! Do you mean an existing preset, like one of the ones in Protunes section?
Приложение и сама идея очень крутые, но не хватает подробной инструкции по каждому функционалу настройки))
Hey @pavremerelentiumilinisimi ! Thanks for your comment. There are limited instructions on the site, but I find the app called QR Control much easier to use. You can download it from the app store or Google play. Was there a particular goprp lab you wanted to know more information about ?
Отвечу самому себе: кому интересно описание каждой настройки, то на сайте GoPro подробно расписано о каждой настройке))
Hi Tim. Thx for sharing your expertise. That tuto is pretty complete and will help most of us.😉
Hey Phillippe! Thankyou so much for taking the time to watch and comment on my video. Really glad you found it useful. All the best.
Can GoPro labs help me with low light problem???
Why 60fps when you're in PAL land 50p????
Hey there, thanks for your comment! You are correct I do live in a land of PAL but I just find 60fps works just as well when I play back on my TV. Thanks for watching.
Will this void my warrantee?
Hey JP. Thanks for your comments. Using GoPro Labs won't void your warranty as you are not changing anything on - or inside - your camera. Gopro actually has a whole selection of QR codes they have created on the website I mentioned in the video. I hope this helps .
@@AdventureTimMedia Thanks for the quick reply. How stable his the firmware
Hey JP , I've had it on my camera for nearly a month now with no issues at all.
@@AdventureTimMedia I’m really great full for your time you spending to reply to this, thank you 🙏🏻 . If you don’t mind I have one more question. Do we keep all the stock presets after the firmware change. Or do we have to keep scanning the QR?
@@jpfourie2020 Hey JP, sorry for taking so long to reply. All the standard presets on your GoPro remain after you add the GoPro labs firmware. The new options are added using the QR code. To have the permanently on your Gopro, make the sure the permanent box is ticked or checked when you scan the code. Hope this helps.
Gopro labs which problems is solving?
Hey Caalin! thanks for your comment.
Gopro labs is a free download that you can put on your gopro that broadens the number of options you have when using your camera. It's gives the user access to a lot of features that are still in the testing phase and often end up on the next version of gopro.
This multitude of options also solves a lot of problems users may have with their gopro.
Check out the video and if you have any questions feel free to hit me up. all the best.
@@AdventureTimMedia after I updated my GoPro 11 after seconds it is turning off it self’ .
Now no battery it says and I use with power bank.
GoPro labs can solve or!
@@caalinAbyan Hi Caalin, so you installed GOPRO labs on the sd card and then the camera would have done updates, and once done it should be good to go. Have you scanned any QR codes with it since you have put GOPRO labs on your gopro?
😡Is it only me that in the moment I install GoPro labs on my hero 10 I can’t download pictures to my iPhone there is connection but doesn’t work. Happen to me twice now in 2 months different mods…. Wtf is wrong with it???
Hey @ikigaifishing, thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear about your issue. So how were you transferring your photos before ? Was it via the Quik app or direct to photos app on your iPhone?
Are you just bad with technology perhaps? It should be working.
@@mondo_burrito thank you for your constructive comment. I am, that’s why I’m using TH-cam to learn!
@@AdventureTimMedia I was using Quik app and when I installed GoPro labs either the phone has trouble finding the camera or can’t load the pictures. Last time I tried it was working again just want to understand what can it be… thank you for your help!
@mondo_burrito Hey mate. There are no silly questions, here. Always happy to help anyone no matter what their technical ability.
TY!!
You are most welcome, KineticAirRgV! I hope you found it helpful! all the best
so if you dont have your phone or laptop with you, your screwed.
Hey nutrino75, Thanks for your comment. You can preload your GoPro Labs options before you leave home and they will be on your camera when you come to use it later in the day. I like using the QR Control app on my phone in case I need to make changes while I am out on a shoot. I hope this has helped. If you have any more questions, I am happy to help.
Настройка камеры через qr-cod появилась в 20 году, а обзоры этой настройки делают спустя 3 года))
Hey Pavremerelentiumimus ! Thanks for watching! You are right! GoPro Labs started in 2020 but every year more and more features are added! Have you had fun using GoPro Labs?
Seems quite tedious. Why not just add all the features into the camera??
Gloves? Underwater? No problem at all
Hey Calvin, thanks for your comment. The video was created with newbies in mind. Gopro Labs has lots of different options available- many of which you've listed above - but the intention was to show people what's available and how to put it on your gopro using the methods available. Cheers
