    I followed your tutorial and painted this beautiful piece! I am so proud of myself! I'm 62 and have never painted except for a few Paint & Sips I've attended. Thank you and I look forward to trying my hand at some more paintings! My friends are asking for copies! :)

    Wonderful. I have a friend going to Africa in a few weeks and I’d like to turn your painting into a card to wish her bon voyage. I think it will be great to give this a go.

    This is a lovely painting - you have a real talent and your voice is soothing to listen to! I wanted to say that I was taught to do items (focal things) in odd numbers - ie 3 dancers or 5, it somehow is more pleasing to the eye - hope you don't mind my saying - your painting is however, very pleasing! Best wishes

      Over thinking is likely an attempt to avoid mistakes. But I always say there are no mistakes in art. If you don't like something, cover it up and redo it until you do like it. Thank you for watching and for subscribing!

    Hi Gabriela, thank you so much for your lovely video. Could you explain whether you needed to wait for the paint to dry between different applications e.g. adding the white vertical stripes?And do you use any particular method to speed up drying?

    • @mihaelagimlin
      @mihaelagimlin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Renata. As far as speeding up the drying process, this is why I use acrylic paint verses oil. Acrylic drys much faster. Other then that there is no method I use to speed up the drying of acrylic paint. To your other question, in this painting I did let the paint dry between applications as I wanted the white stripes to stand out. The rule of thumb is if you want the colors to mix/blend then apply wet on wet. If you don't want the colors to mix/blend then wait for the first application to dry then apply the second. Thank you for your questions!

      Hi Mihaela, thank you so much for your reply, and sorry I just realised I used the wrong name in my original message. I have completed my pic and for a first time, I think it's not too bad. I struggled to get clean edges (especially the black against a lighter color) as well as good solid dots. Do you ever use a pen instead for this, or a special paint brush?

    • @mihaelagimlin
      @mihaelagimlin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used a pen, however that doesn't mean it couldn't be done. I don't use any special paint brushes, just what ever one I have to use at the time.

  • @debbieventimiglia2216
    @debbieventimiglia2216 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are the dancers feet are covered by the bottom of their dresses? I am currently painting my on version of this painting. I am adding an African drummer to the painting. You are an awesome artist. Thank you for sharing your talent.

    • @mihaelagimlin
      @mihaelagimlin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was my intent to cover the feet with the dress. I'm so happy to hear that you are painting your version. That is the beautiful thing about art, we can draw inspiration from others but we always make it our own.

    Thanku mam if I am doing a African dancing women murel on canvas should I use background with acrylic painting and murel wit oil painting

    • @mihaelagimlin
      @mihaelagimlin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My opinion would be to use either acrylic or oil through out the whole painting. I have a painting where I used both oil and acrylic. You can see it here mgartgallery.co/products/florence-italy . The sky is oil and the rest of the painting is acrylic. In this case there was a specific reason for mixing the two, which is that oil drys much slower then acrylic and gives you more time to blend your colors, which is what I needed to get the sky I was going for. With the subject you are asking about I don't see a specific need for mixing the two mediums.
