My second Kickstarter ship was my 325a. So, when the 100i series launched, I thought it was silly and useless. Then it was the Subscriber Ship of the Month. The first time I walked out of a station onto a pad and saw it sitting there? Love at first sight. I was a gorgeous little ship. I bought a 125a for myself, my wife, and our son. Easily one of my favourite little ships in the game.
Now there is a true 100 series fan! I've seen a group of them fly by once and it really is a sight to behold! I don't think I could ever get rid of mine :)
While everyone always loves and wants the big fancy ships... I always find my self using ships like the 100i and Pisces way more than anything else. They're faster to claim, easy to get in and out of, take zero time to take off and land with. When you play Star Citizen A LOT, like I do, convenience and efficiency becomes the greatest priority and there is no more useful ships than the small, quick ones that are cheap and easy to claim as well as being able to spawn on a ground vehicle pad.
i think 125a is the best ass-delivery ship in the verse. It's not heavy, fast, feel good in atmo to get in any location fast. Ease to enter and leave (no lots of doors or stairs animations), it have bed when need to save ur position in universe and logout or change server to loot something. Cheap and fast to call when u need to change ur ship at any station.
I usually buy one of the 100 series in game after every wipe. They are fun to fly and can be spawned at a ground terminal in case you get stuck. With a quick claim time, it is my preferred shuttle to jump around the verse, or just get from the planetary hubs to the orbital stations.
Definitely try the 135c as well! Crazy that it actually handles better than the 125 and 100i. That being said the 100i was my starter and I'll never let it leave my hangar :)
I have a 125a and find it very useful. Among the things you mentioned, the ability of that whole series to effectively never run out of hydrogen is nice. It’s also nice that you can never be stuck at a ground outpost with a vehicle pad again as they can be spawned from one. A comfortable, simple ride with a bed, a little room ams some defensibility.
Love the Origin ships. My starter was the 100i. Upgrade to the 135c. Extra cargo and, stock can cross the Stanton system. Being size one and can claim at an outpost too. New Sub!
I bought the 125 by accident at new deal and your right. Its a true pleasure to fly. I put ballistic scatterguns on it to make up for the gimbles so I could go with the next size up on the guns. Oh, and all of my components were upgraded to grade A stealth. I lost it in a wipe since I purchased it in game but I would like to get it again. Now that I think about it, I felt like an sharp dressed hitman in it. Lol, good times.
A friend got me a 125 for my Bday a while back and I love it. It just feels good to use. It's fast and it's pretty and that's all I need. Though I do admit it's not the best fighter
There's something about these ships that are special. I had a 135c back in 3.16, and used it as an emergency claim from the mining outposts (this was before you could claim a Pisces there). So I didn't fly it that much, obviously because there are faster ships with more guns. However, those times I did fly it were a joy. And after getting out of the ship after landing, I'd look back at it and do a walk around. The paint job felt smooth, like a freshly waxed sports car hood... even though I'm not really touching it. I kinda wanted to climb back in and fly around for no reason. It's a special ship. I'll probably always own at least one of these.
I do the exact same thing, whenever I land this ship I can't help but look back at it as I walk to wherever I need to go next. It will never leave my hangar for sure :)
I used to own a 125 and I love flying all of the 100-series when I get the opportunity to do so. The issue is that I earn more credits with other ships so the 100-series is just purchased in game to fly around for fun.
Totally fair! For me the 100 series are the ships to enjoy the credits I make with other ships :) Casual fly down to the Microtech River to just enjoy the sights? You bet I'm pulling out the 100i :) thanks for the comment!
My first ship was a 315p, so I skipped over the 100 series when I started playing SC a year and a half ago. I outgrew the 315p after a few months and got into bigger ships, but I still enjoy the flight characteristics of smaller ships so ended up with a variety of ships in my hangar, including an M50 and 350R, so I probably won't pick-up a 100 series anytime soon.
I love the 300 series as well, that moon roof that goes all the way back feels super special. Do you find yourself enjoying the Razors as well? Even though I usually end up in larger ship, the 100i is the ship I keep in my Hangar to spawn at Platinum Bay landing pads. Maybe it's just the nostalgia for me :)

The most interesting part about the 100i is that it is the most forgotten starter... Probably because it's kind of bad. Though admittedly I do have some fun buying the Origin 85x in game when it costs so little and you can low fly / crash with someone in the cockpit right next to you. The 300i was actually my first ship in Star Citizen but I bought it when they first released the concept and we didn't have a hanger module yet so the Avenger Titan wasn't a thing at that time. These days it's sort of hard for me to recommend the 300i also. It's guns don't match the Titan's. It's cargo area isn't as usable and the wings always seem to get destroyed in dog fights. The window that extends much further along the roof compared to the 100i is nice visual touch though.
I think you made the BEST possible argument for a 100i starter i have ever heard. I still think its not the best way to start the game, even at or below its price point. But damn if you didnt make me think about it, good video!

I think your maths is wrong about the Titan. 2 fixed size 3 on the 100i = 458 DPS 2 fixed size 3 and a fixed size 4 on the Titan = 551 DPS Does that size 4 deal only 93 DPS ?
These calculations are for sustained damage including "reloading" which depends on the capacitors of each ship as well, so each size 3 on a 100i actually does 229 DPS where the size 3s on the Titan do 170 :) I'll be sure to explain that in better detail with my next video! Thanks for the feedback :)
@@Space-Tech Oh ok thank you for the precision... WAIT ! That means that my Mustang Beta with a fully gimballed loadout deal more sustained damage than my Avenger with all fixed weapons ?! WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING WITH MY LIFE !?
@@Space-Tech Does that mean that the Avenger would have a higher damage number on that display if it had all gimballed weapons ? If so isn't it misleading to show all fixed configuration for the avenger xhen it makes it do less sustained damage ? Here you show fully fixed weapons on the 100i because that's the configuration that deals the most damage with it when taking capacitors into account. Then to compare apples to apples you should apply the same mindset to the other ships and show either fully fixed or fully gimballed depending on what does the most sustained dps otherwise people will understand that the avenger has just very slightly more firepower than the 100i...
No you're mixing up sustained vs burst and gimbaled vs fixed. I just double checked nothing should be misleading here but happy to clear up any confusion! I make sure all my comparisons are apples to apples, within the context of a singular video. If you're looking for burst dps that ignores capacitors that's fine as well, but I think taking them into account is valuable
For me, Starter Ship is all about the entry price: if you don't want to start with the Mustang Alpha or Aurora MR at $45, I'd go straight to the Avenger Titan and ignore all ships in between for the difference of only $10 to $15.
I am a completely new player, now playing for like 4 days and i gotta say this: for a completely new player getting into SC this ship is garbage. It blows up so fast does barely have a shield basically 2 CSU of cargo which is only enough for box missions and detatching some S1 and S2 ship weapons i am not really able to make enough money with this for getting to next better ship options as the most time i spend is flying back to my corpse where i blew up my ship before to recover my items, just to sometimes blow up again and having to wait again before i can reclaim it. then i also need to wait 1 minute every time before i am able to fly it again (after paying the expedite fee) Do not get this ship as your first starter ship, i believe every aurora or mustang or or avenger titan are so much better options...
Welcome to the verse! I will say, that blowing up all the time experience is exactly the same in all of the ships no matter what unfortunately. It's just part of the rough learning curve of Star Citizen. All of their earning potential is also roughly the same apart from the Titan which can do much harder combat missions (but also costs more). Bang for buck, can't beat the Mustang or Aurora for sure, then again, no ship in the verse can :) I'll be curious to hear how it goes for you a few months from now! Let me know if I can help

100i has 2 size2 missiles.
For me, Starter Ship is all about the entry price: if you don't want to start with the Mustang Alpha or Aurora MR at $45, I'd go straight to the Avenger Titan and ignore all ships in between for the difference of only $10 to $15.
I am a completely new player, now playing for like 4 days and i gotta say this:
for a completely new player getting into SC this ship is garbage. It blows up so fast does barely have a shield basically 2 CSU of cargo which is only enough for box missions and detatching some S1 and S2 ship weapons
i am not really able to make enough money with this for getting to next better ship options as the most time i spend is flying back to my corpse where i blew up my ship before to recover my items, just to sometimes blow up again and having to wait again before i can reclaim it.
then i also need to wait 1 minute every time before i am able to fly it again (after paying the expedite fee)
Do not get this ship as your first starter ship, i believe every aurora or mustang or or avenger titan are so much better options...
Bang for buck, can't beat the Mustang or Aurora for sure, then again, no ship in the verse can :)
I'll be curious to hear how it goes for you a few months from now! Let me know if I can help
@@Space-Tech 2 people gifted me 2 million, so now I have 4 million in total.
I bought the vulture and the titan, another player invited me to be his gunner on the scorpius, so he helped me to unlock all those higher bounty missions and answered like 1000 more questions on top to all those 50h TH-cam videos i watched in comparison to the like 10 hour real actual play time.
I find bounty missions fun so i guess now im watching another few yt videos on what bounty ship is a good option for me within the like 1.5 million price range to be able to deck it out.
He also lent me some top tier bounty hunter heavy solo fighter ship which is not obtainable currently. While being in discord and guiding me on how to not die against MRTs.
I also thought about buying the cutlass black as i was told that it's the most versatile buyable ship in game right now.
However i think I will use the avenger the most for now as i think this is a good option to ccu chain towards and i want to get comfortable with it. While using the vulture to make me some decent money.
This really helped me get into star citizen better, as i did not enjoy the game with the 100i at all (on top to all the bugged missions which cannot be completed for various reasons)
Glad to hear that you're enjoying your time!
