AFarCryAway for real, it’s pretty impressive given the 20 some years of the franchises continuity. Where many games after 10 continuous years begin to fall to the allure of “pay to play/win”, etc., and shit like that. Now, fortunately, that all started in the 2010s+ for console/pc games and AC was a bit absent from the console world (and wasn’t even for pc then). So, in a way AC was kind of shielded from the practices. Now....since I’m an AC groupie for life I wouldn’t mind shelling out extra cash post-buying the main game. There’s a way to do post-release cash-shelling and a way NOT to do it-if they had aircraft after aircraft, weapons for DLC and missions (co-op, side campaign missions, DLC missions like we’ve gotten) I’d fork over the cash since I want them making the most money so further development is all the more appealing. I mean....alone just the number of “older” and more contemporary pieces of kit could yield them some serious cash. From tornadoes, to Su-24/25, hell...F-105s, Su-22s, and ever god forsaken mass produced and developed in low numbers aircraft from the 1965-present. I mean...if they still have the B-52 in game, the F-15, F-14, MiG-29, etc. (these developed in the late 60s and deployed in the mid-late 1970s) then I don’t see the problem of adding 1960s aircraft. I mean, we have the F-106 for crying out loud and the MiG-21. I’d love so very much to get the Buccaneer....a fast low flying tac-bomber...is Pay $20....maybe even $30...maybe more? For that and 3-4 sets of weapons and paint schemes.
After playing AC7 and then watching Angriest Pat (Coiner of the phrase JPEG Dog) play it himself, he questioned is this where Ace Combat is headed. That very IDEA... puts a smile on my face.
Last year I was playing the western release on epsxe when I heard they released the english patch of the original. I was like "why would someone do that?" and immediately searched for informations. The moment I saw voice acting and anime fmv scenes I panicked, "what the fuck am I doing? This version has less missions, reduced plot and no characters at all!" I'm really glad people had the effort to translate it, this is an excellent example of a 32-bit era game.
Both happen in the near future, both begin with commercials for PMCs, both have PMCs fighting wars, both have man/machine interface cautionary tales, both have codec conversations... yep. Ace Combat 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 are in the same universe.
This is the only game I've played through in Japanese from start to finish. Several times even, because of the branching storylines. I loved it so much despite not understanding Japanese. Now, over 20 years later(!) I get to properly see what it really was about...

@Channel07 I wanted a futuristic themed Ace Combat game ever since playing this one... Loved the fictional pilotable aircrafts, they were cool as all hell. The special missions where you go into space or the electrosphere itself were so refreshing and surprising! And also, the stories in all other games are so generic/corny/cheesy... at least they did something more entertaining here. I couldn't bring myself to care about Mihaly and his generic grandchildren for example in 7... (Joint Assault is my second favorite btw, both because of the more engaging story compared to other games, and the awesome missions...plus the soundtrack was awesome.)
I can't wait to see a new AC running a similar futuristic theme like AC3! Even X got me really hooked with all those customizations on the fictional planes, as well as the branching paths in the story!
Huh, never played this one. It seems like the player has to really fight to maneuver compared to others in the series. ... but the missiles seem a bit more responsive.
In other AC series, you missed the missiles *In AC3, the missiles missed you* The missiles in AC3 can predict player's course thus the only way to dodge them is to move unpredictable (or out-maneuver them.)
I think Rena is designed based on Rei indeed. -Short blue hair -Young,frail and sickly -Ordered to fight using machines -Has nothing in mind than obeying orders at first -Slowly goes more human-like, opens their heart and shows more emotions as they develop -Would protect you,and you ended up protecting them as well

I think when you saved your progress, try save them in different files especially when you saved a progress that involve in-game decision. (Had to play it all over again)

Apparently because the game didn't sell well in Japan and so Namco didn't have the funds to do a proper English port to the west. It's nice that we got an English sub version now but I would really like a full-on dub, even if it's fanmade.
Download the translation patch files from Project Nemo, make sure the original JP version is .bin type. After that, there will be patching tool that comes with translation patch. Put the original JP file and translation patch then click 'Apply patch'. You can now play it using PS1 emulator (such as ePSXe) *If it's not working then try follow the guide made by Ace Combat Fan or other creators.*

Nahomag1 you need to get your hands on a Japanese version of the game, then patch it into English. epsxe works wonders to run the game and my Dualshock 4 works with rumble and all (dualshock3 works as well) .

The gist of it is two multi-national mega corporations, Neucom Inc. and General Resource, Ltd. have gone to war on the continent of Usea and surrounding islands. However, it's all a simulation made by a scientist named Simon Cohen, who really hates this dude named Abyssal Dision. You play as Nemo, an AI created within the simulation who is, essentially, tasked with hunting down and killing Dision. That's the *abridged* version.
