Not a bad list, though you should learn how to use lineman snips. I have the exact snips and they are called comfort grip snips, because the yellow pvc covered handle is meant to sit in your palm of your hand. Your middle finger goes in the regular scissor handle, with the other section in your palm. This allows you to have a ton of leverage cutting cables. Category cable is easy to cut, but I use mine all the time for other types of cables as well.
Great Video. At work today, we were looking through our tools and seeing if we needed better ones. We are using a number of the same tools you are and are ordering better ones. I will run this video by the team to see what they think.
I have a similar brothers printer. I can set the length manually for the labels and print very small labels. You should probably check if yours allows it. The default length is always long because it prints enough to visible show the label from the ejection part. But you don't need to see it, just push down and cut it and the tip it out into your hand. Or even consider programming it to print a set of 2 numbers for those dual or quad plates.
Yeah brother likes to do this, so i just ended up making a very long print of "LR1 LR2 LR3 LR4 LR4 LR6" and then just used scissors to cut between. no matter what field if it has to print something it will try and be a pain about it.
You have a good channel. I have not done ethernet cable since probably 2007 when I worked a lot in datacenters for my clients. But now I am cabling my house and I'm getting back in it. Thanks for all the infos. By the way, I have a lot (25?) of different packout and they are really great. But the price is really high. If I wasn't using them daily I would have chosen something else because of the price. Have a good day, from Montreal, eh!
Curious about you mentioning "I'm in Canada" regarding T568A VS. T568B, I'm also in Canada and every mentor I've had uses B since it's the "newer" / "latest" standard. Obviously it doesn't really matter as long as both ends are the same.
Well anyone who ive talked to ( At the time of this video anyways and in Ontario) are using T568a but I feel a lot of people use B as well. Like you said doesnt really matter
Cody. Can you do a video of how moisture can get into a Rj45 connector such as a camera etc? I would like to learn more about this of how moiture can effect network poe switches and cameras. Thanks!
MOisture gets in from water condensation and shorts out switch ports. I accidently cut a cable plugged in and it sparked like crazy but luckly didnt short
@@MactelecomNetworks You can't use the sumply45's out side with cameras because of the boots that clip over them. Haven't had one issue in 3 years using ezcrimps. I also don't put the ends out in the weather.
Question: According to Simply45: Simply45's engineers designed their crimper to be compatible with other manufacturer's connectors. Simply45's Crimper replaces tools from Klein Tools (#VDV226-110), Ideal Networks (#30-495), Platinum Tools (#100004C, #100054C, #100062C), and Eclipse Tools(#902-548T) I happened to impulsively buy the Klein VDV226-110 crimper the other day to terminate some cable. Is it safe to assume the RJ45 plugs w/ Cap45 can be crimped with the Klein crimper?
Another great video. Thanks for the update, I loved first one and picked up the I-punch tool and love it. BTW ever thought of using rechargeables batteries for the label printers? I have the power adapter for my P-touch just in case but usually run off rechargeables.

Those RJ45 plugs from Simply45 look interesting. I have a few questions: - Can we use the pass-through crimper from klein tools with the RJ45 pro plugs (the ones with the ruber)? - Also do we need their crimper in order o use their Strain Reliefs or do they just click onto the plug? Once again, great video :)
Hey the best way to use the simply45 ends would be to use there crimper which I don’t have ( right now) and didn’t show in the video. As for the strain relief I would assume you’re talking about the vertical cable patch panel. You can use that with any keystone
Call me asleep at the wheel but I had no idea you were based in Canada and then I saw that 'Maximum' packout box and thought, hmm but when I saw the 'Mastercraft' micro bitset, I woke up as I have a few similar sets. That 'Tire' place does tend to have a few reasonably priced good tools. ;)
Another great video! What specific labels do you routinely use with your Brady labeler? Have been looking for another labeler and the Brady line looks really promising. Thanks again for all your great videos. Still interested in an Untangle - Unifi vid if you run out of ideas for new projects!
I wasn't aware there was a tool like the I-Punch. Would have saved my hands a lot of pain doing the 30 keystone jacks in my house that I did by holding it and using a little punch tool for every cable.
What size lag bolts do you use to attach network racks to walls. I have a 6u rack that I am attaching to 3/4” plywood ( which is screwed into studs)? Thanks
Ya you'll want to have the plywood screwed into the studs for sure as for lag bolts I typically use 1/4 by 2 inches I believe and have some washers on then
Happy late Christmas everyone Also dose anyone know what ports I need to open for my unifi controller on a pi to be used on different sites because I had to reset my edgerouter x because I got a new isp and can not find the doc I had from last time please
I never recommend brother label printers due to the exact same fact he mentioned, wasting so much label. Almost all models have the same problem for strange reason!
The AT-2000 is NOT Android based. It boots up almost instantly and is good value second hand. It does seem overpriced new, especially as it’s now quite an old product. However the time it may save you on site may pay for itself very quickly. However the newer more advanced NetAlly products ARE Android based.

Good video Cody. I am a huge fan of pssthrough, have probably done over 10,000 this year not a single issue. Those Simply45 units do look nice.
