True story - I am new to the nail game and watch a lot of TH-cam videos on nails. I’ve seen YN advertisement everywhere but literally ignored it. Had no interest whatsoever. Watched every nail “instructor” online except Greg. This went on for a while and I finally caved in and said to myself, “I’m gonna give this Greg a chance”. No kidding, he is by far the BEST instructor out there for nails. I was blown away by how he made me understand the technique within hours. Didn’t mean I perfected it right away but I gain more insight with his way of teaching than all the other videos I’ve seen. I am now a BIG fan of Young Nails. 🤯🥰
Ive been an official tech for a month and I’ve had 2 customers after all the marketing I’ve done and bruh we struggling but I’ve realized how i haven’t given up yet I’ve always given up easily on anything else but this surprises me . At this point though i do need to take extra classes cause he is so right i mastered pedis and manis and ugh school was wild .
I just finished all my advanced classes. I was licensed a year ago but wanted other than mani pedi know how just like Greg. Now it’s time to practice, practice practice. I just got me a new practice hand and this will really help when I want to work something other than application and solid color gel.
I've been binge listening to your videos for days now trying to get my passion back. And in the first five minutes you guys mentioned Tom Holcomb and Vicki Peters and I instantly remembered my WHY! I took Vicki's pre-competition class and competed against Tom very early on. I competed strictly to learn where I could get better. I still carry those skills I learned from Vicki and that competition and have retained many clients over 20-25 years!!! I know this is from a year ago, but thank you for bringing me back ❤️
Hello I did all of my training under Tom and E-Z Flow. I followed him all over the country take private classes to get the smile line I was like a puppy dog. I competed along side him in Vegas on won in novice and he won it was the best memory I have of him RIP. Back then the Nail industry competition was Epic E-Z flow, Odyssey and Young Nails. Your the only standing love the product. You’re never to old to learn 20+ years in the business.
Words can’t express how much I appreciate this video. I also was licensed around the same time as Greg! I just couldn’t get the knack of acrylics, so I did other types of extensions mostly resin! I have been using YN acrylics for a little over a year now and between your excellent product and education, It’s been a game changer and I finally feel like a confident nail tech!
I've been a licensed nail tech for almost 2 years now. I still struggle sometimes but it's definitely been getting easier over time. Yesterday I just went to my local nail supply and saw your Slick Pour dipping system and I FREAKED. I love dipping powder because I can also use it as an acrylic with my young nails monomer. And I love how amazing your guys' product quality is. I'm very excited to buy more colors. :D

I just graduated from nail school and i soo much needed this. I felt like i was the only one struggling😞thank you Greg for sharing your beginnings on the nail career..you inspire a lot of new nail techs like myself💖
I’ve been a nail tech for almost 8 years now. I’ve just recently come back to doing them part time, due to moving out of state and no clientele - I have struggled with getting and retaining clients, and loyal clients at that. No matter how much I put myself, my work and my business out there I seem to hit a wall. Continuing education and practicing ALL OF THE TIME has kept me relevant and my skills up to par. I can’t wait for the day that I can make it to one of Young Nails trainings! #lifegoal
Glad I came across this video. I’ve been at it for 3 months now. I’m struggling with my polishing and cuticle nipping. I went to school and graduated and I’m training in a salon right now. I’m ready to cry because I’ve been at this over and over and I feel like giving up. But that’s not an option. I need to start making money. My husband is paying all the bills why I chase my dream. It’s taking a toll on him and me. I can’t do anything in the salon until I improve my polish skills. I sat yesterday for 4 hours practicing.
My take what I was hearing- Failure is a part of the success, I'm still learning everyday. The struggles is just a Tip of the Journey. There is going to be rollercoaster moments. Communication & Time. Alright Gotta get this mindset turned up to a postive notch. 💕💯✌💖💅 #teamyn
From someone who is hoping to start soon, it's great to know that it's going to take time and not to put too much pressure on myself from the start. Great interview.
I've only been qualified since October last year, it's a struggle, but like you say "practice makes perfect" I'm lucky enough to have friends to practice on. Young nails were who inspired me to do my nail course, I'm so pleased it did. Thanks for sharing your fabulous videos full of various subjects & thorough information. I'm so grateful to you all at YN. I love you guys. 😊💅💖😘

I have a clue of pedicure and manicure but the perfect of learning on gel acrylic and the rest that takes practice but never give up when we all go through the learning stage till we get it right
Omg love you guys, you were the ones that inspired me to become a Nailtech🥰 watching your demos, waaay back 10years and am thankful for it . One time I thought I lost my Young Nails brushes, powders bonds, and literally had a nervous breakdown with out you guys and my brushes I couldn't 🤣 hopefully they were found lol
You guys, if I haven’t already said it enough lol, are amazing. I agree as always with you on your thoughts regarding the nail industry. After doing nails for so long, I finally get the confirmation I needed yrs ago that I know what I am doing. (I actually took a class with Vicki Peters some yrs ago. She was great & she told me the only thing holding me back is my lack of confidence) I’ve been a nail tech since 2008, & I STILL feel like I have much more to learn! Lol! But in my opinion, it’s a good thing. I always told myself to never stop learning, never stop perfecting my skill, that my only competition is myself. I was thrust into the nail world & I had to learn quick, which didn’t give me time to better my skills. But, I didn’t give up. I tell new nail techs all the time, that mistakes are not your enemy, but can actually be your friend. How I learned the most, is by constantly doing nails & making mistakes, because then I knew what went wrong & can correct them lol. I’m thankful for the clients that let me “mess up” every two weeks, they helped me become better. And like you said, it takes time. I did a lot of bad nails, & a lot of good nails. All of it made me a better tech, communicator, & people person in general. And I agree, you DO have to learn to talk & do nails, I know I did lol! My clients LOVE to talk. I do feel like I learned all of this two late, because I’m feeling burned out. I’ve put soooooo much work, time, effort, money, research into this career, that I find myself ready to give up at times. I’ve made money, but not nearly as much as I hoped. Now I have just a small clientele that I do, & that’s a struggle. Any advice for burned out nails techs & that feel this career is no longer for them. Thank you thank you for your videos & reading my long post!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi. Thank you so so much for teaching us how to do acrylics. I still dont know how to do thr smile line. I just use white tips but would love it if you could learn me through your vid. For the first time in 20 years I got the acrylic system right. No lifting etc. Also please please do a series on gel. Most people in my country nowadays prefer gel and zi tried it once but o man, I suck. I just cant seem to get it right. It is always to thick and if I wipe the tackiness off between applications half of the colour always comes off. I really suck at it. Please help. Xxx
I've been using different products trying to find what "fits" me, but it's really my technique. It's bad, I use too much product or I'm taking too much time trying to smooth it out, because I used too much product. :( It has left me feeling a little blah but I will just keep practicing with your videos. I know I will get it soon.
I am struggling for more than 2 years i am busy with International course. But still i dont get the hang of sculpture's what i am good at is my prep work. And gel overlay. But i want to push me to do sculpture long nails. What i love from you advice do one nail till you get hang of it. I feel i practice on models but not working for me by 10 nail i feel frustrated because already with the pinky i use to much product. I dont want a certificate till i know i am good in what i am doing. 🙂
I feel like i do good nails. They last. They turn out pretty. But ever since i started charging more. Ppl stopped coming. The most i charge is $100. But i do ombre. Glitter. Swarovski stones. Etc. All of it. I do all acrylic. Gel top coat. Ugh 😩
@@empogirl and what's crazy is. I get pics and PM's all the time. With them saying. Oh look girl. My nails on still a month later. So I'm like. Okaaaaaaay. So why don't you come back. 😂😂😂
GlitterGoddess whahhhaa I can relate same here I have one that comes once a month just cause her nails lasted and no lifting, some don’t even want to pay more than 55$ while others charge 85/120$
A good tip for client retention is as you are finishing up just reschedule them before they leave. You can say something like " okay so 3 weeks from now will be .... would you like to schedule something now so we are sure to get you a spot, something around the same time as today?" That insures they will be back in and creates a need.
I'm struggling in a different way. I work in a family nail salon and its tense there, competition is fierce. Everyone is faster than me and are booked more than I am, but I keep myself busy for the most part with walk ins. can a salon environment really make clients not want to come back? I'm working there to get experience and it's paying off my bills and debt.
Sorry Habib. But Greg is right. You are blessed to have the one on one. But dude. You get to sit with Greg! Lol. Your whole team is phenomenal. Thanks for addressing this.
Do you think is possible to obtain 95% of the knowledge by watching and studying TH-cam videos? Of course getting licensed and taking the necessary courses for it will be taken into consideration. I want to get into the nail world and have been watching a lot of TH-cam videos. I have a cart full of supplies just waiting to get paid to purchase. Just the thought excites me 🤗
You can certainly learn a great deal but nothing beats hands on. In fact a comment we get often in our classes is that the videos help but after taken a class where it is explained and hands on the videos make way more sense. So I think both are important
I have been doing my own nails for a couple of years now and getting better because of online tutorials I am a pensioner now but for younger peops just starting out your online tutorials new age teachers must be a blessing

YoungNailsInc they always say they will hit me up once they sure of their schedule

Absolutely the environment can turn clients away. I would say if you are unhappy continue hustling but be looking for other opportunities on the side
Okay, I will definitely keep seeking other opportunities in the meanwhile.
There you go me dad give me the camera chimera

Do you think is possible to obtain 95% of the knowledge by watching and studying TH-cam videos? Of course getting licensed and taking the necessary courses for it will be taken into consideration. I want to get into the nail world and have been watching a lot of TH-cam videos. I have a cart full of supplies just waiting to get paid to purchase. Just the thought excites me 🤗
You can certainly learn a great deal but nothing beats hands on. In fact a comment we get often in our classes is that the videos help but after taken a class where it is explained and hands on the videos make way more sense. So I think both are important
Trills budgies are us

A lot of nail techs now are just people that watch YT and are doing it at home. 😳 Not getting certificated. That is why nail salons are struggling.
here will always be people that want to do their own nails, but it is your experience & skill that will keep your clients from doing their own nails.
I think he has done so well am not pateranising and he has covered so many areas big up for you not the camera man
For sure
If you want to laugh laugh don't force yourself
haha
The only way to learn is doing your own nails then you know what the customer feels there weren’t tips
For sure!
I have been doing my own nails for a couple of years now and getting better because of online tutorials I am a pensioner now but for younger peops just starting out your online tutorials new age teachers must be a blessing
You should take more note from tracy hope I got the name right if they envy your nails and want some they should pay the price or take a course
