I grew up in a town of about 2,500 in Michigan. Pretty much everyone besides my family hunted. The first day of deer season was an "excused skip day". Meaning, you could come and watch movies at school if you wanted. I stayed home and watched movies every year.
I went to a very small school in West Virginia (maybe 450 students, max) and I can confirm that we always got the day off for deer season. 'Hick town' doesn't even begin to describe where I grew up, lmao.

When we first moved in our apartment I had the neighbor call the cops on me cuz I was parked too close to her. The cops, for real. She wasn't parked when I had pulled in, and our lot has no lines.
She also came to my door once and bitched me out cuz I was in the handicapped space....there was no sign up anywhere for a handicapped space. And it wasn't even the space closest to the walkway ramp.

I went to a high school in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania, and we had the first day of deer season (buck season, specifically) off. The school didn't celebrate it as a holiday, they just did it because they knew 90% of the students wouldn't show up anyway. Edited to include: and yes, it was a small school. The elementary, middle, and high schools were all combined into one school building. Total number of students combined my senior year: 475.
I live in Minnesota. A big part of out culture is hunting and fishing. You are allowed to go hunting in the first few days of hunting season if you tell the school you will be hunting.

I don't feel bad for bad parker guy, but it do burn with rage every time I think back to that one lady who parked super close to my car. I was parked in my spot perfectly and had parked first, she was the one to screw up. I came out to my car just as she was walking away and was like wtf! hey! and tried to call her back and ask her to move her car and explain how she is parked like two inches from my door and she just stops and stares at me for a moment, then turns around and keeps walking without a word. I'd never been so angry.
