I like that Branford will agree and he will not agree, he isn't concerned about just agreeing. And he can have an intellectual conversation and speak as if he already knew what he was going to say, and it is informed. He even knew about Birth of a nation.
I wish the Bob Costas show was still going because its amazing just how intellectual these conversations are. You don't get interview shows like that anymore.
For such a young guy in 1990, Branford Marsalis sure has a sutble and perceptive view of the world. I got to check and see what he's written about other than music.
The first 10 mins of this interview would’ve caused so much drama today. Meanwhile, it’s 2 men having a discussion expressing their thoughts and ideas on topics.
Branford is great and this is an excellent interview. I disagree about all of the music of the 50's being light and fluffy. "Memphis" by Chuck Berry tackles some pretty serious subject matter for the time. The erosion of the family as an institution is about as serious as it gets.

Truth!
Great interview. And Branford is great live.

Great interview, man what an educated, intelligent, articulate, well mannered guy #BranfordMarsalis
Talked to Branford the other night after a show. His candor has always amused me.

Great interview. Love Branford.
I can't believe that something this interesting was ever on network TV.
Would love to have a beer with this guy.

Excelent interwiev. What he says about loneliness is striking,
If you're a musician who studies music as a history and a performer...this is as good as it gets...
plz come to south Africa Durban your music is so good
I hope that Branford fired his tailor after this interview.
oj drummin lmao
Youngbloods 😂😂
That Style was in
90's
That was the 90s style. Michael Jordan sported this oversized suits too. Duh.

the guy looks and sounds a lot like Mos Def
Good point. Never saw that until you pointed it out.

MUSIC, BETTA MUSIC ON MY PAGE

Branford is awesome - his over-sized suit doesn't help the fact that he looks like a 14-year-old though!
