Outstanding Château, steeped in over 700 yrs of fascinating history in the heart of the Perigord Noir.
The Château dates back to the 13th century when it was the stronghold of its powerful neighbour the Chateau of Carlux. In the XVIIth century it became the well maintained property of the gentry, the Faure de Rouffillac. Around 1737 it was sold to Duke Adrien de Noailles, one of the most powerful houses of France in the XVIIIth century. During the French revolution the property was occupied by the Dames de la Foi de Sarlat. Sold by the Nation, in 1850 it became the property of the family Montmeja, physicians and lawyers in Sarlat. Arthur Montmeja, was well known to scientists as he became the photographer for Professeur Alfred Hardy. In the XIXth century, Arthur Monmeja transforms and extends this « noble retreat » to become an elegant Rennaissance style Château. It was his son who ended his life financially ruined and upon his death in 1958 the château was in a state of complete abandon.
It is at this time that Pierre-Paul Grassé, Academician of Science from Perigueux, who acquired the château and restored it to a high standard, providing a private country residence for his family and the perfect cadre for receiving the luminaries of science, literature and politics of the XXth century. Today it is his daughter, who with loving care gives the château its feeling of grandeur, with an inviting warmth and beauty from where you feel very at home - perfect for a private country residence to enjoy with friends and family or equally suitable for a business venture to enjoy with guests.

There is no footage of the interior most likely because the owners are "in residence." In France, families don't clear out except for "serious buyers," or unless the family is "situated elsewhere." The other interesting thing about the customs associated with real estate in France is that a potential buyer pays a fee to tour properties for sale. Not much. A token really. Maybe $300-bucks. Same thing in England.
@@jefflovejoy2997 Hi there. I am English, have been all my life and we most certainly don't pay to tour a property we are thinking of buying. Never. Perhaps the French do this, but we most certainly do not.

Magnificent! One has to have a solid portfolio, only the maintenance of the ground must cost a bomb. Such a property is surely listed as a "Monument historique", and as such the owners aren't allowed to do what they want in the manor, every change, restoration is supervised by the French state.

I have seen several drone videos of this beautiful Chateau but never have I seen any one showing the "downside" of the river? Why???
There is a village below it, it's forbidden to fly over it, I think the drone stayed over the chateau lands. The area is nice. Thanks.

Nice château, but what is the upkeep cost? It is even more important than the price itself.
Well, if you have the means to buy a chateau, you certainly can shell out for the upkeep.
@@MTMF.london upkeep is way more expensive than the property itself, that's not even mentionning any repairs that has to be done.

Hi, As explained in some other comments from older videos like this one ( 2016 ) at that time we were not filming interiors but they were both featured in the property page link which is in the comments, and in the 360° virtual tours. Wow, 7 minutes of drone footage and nothing else. Not the way to shift a property. If you want to grab attention, you need minimum details on sq. meter of the main residence, how many bed/bath, how many hectares of land (forest/farm/vineyard), how well and when it was renovated. That is the kind of things that separate the wheat from the chaff. Otherwise, if you've seen one chateau, you've seen them all.
We were only producing drone footage when this video was released but we now include interior shots of the property, as well as the listing agent giving off all the key points about the property if you would like to have a look at our more recent videos 😉

Fuck that ...the nearest Hospital is probably an hour drive ....you are dead by then !
19mn / 14kms exactly ( google maps)... and we have a great health system here you know, most hospitals have also helicopters when needed... Like from Bordeaux or Perigueux. It seems you just don't know anything about french country side. We live here, and you get the same health care as you would in big cities. Our hospitals by the way are modern and most health care is free. One of our partners just had a kidney transplant, with several surgeries, and doctor, nurse at home then... I'm not sure you get that anywhere in the world for free. for my personal personal case ( Leggett photographer ) I've had a 2 months health issue because of a rare sarcoidosis which was difficult to diagnosis, absolutely brilliant doctors & hospital care at Perigueux, I did not have to pay a penny... and I've had all the possible exams done for free, blood analysis, Scanner, TEP scanner, and so on. After a few days of treatment, everything went back to normal. Voilà. Thanks. Cyril, LEGGETT photographer.
