So I threw a 6800XT in my build with a Ryzen 5 3600. I also upgraded to a 1440p monitor as I was told that will help with the bottleneck, something about the GPU having way less 'work' to do if it was only 1080p and could potentially hold back performance. However I imagine I'm still getting a bottleneck - playing Helldivers 2 runs at around 70-100fps until the action gets heavy and then it drops to around 40-60fps. I'm planning to upgrade the CPU soon and was hoping to get some pointers on what to get? It seems a bit pointless to go straight in for an X3D chip? (Also commenting for the algorithm. Even though I pretty much understood what bottlenecking is, this reassured me. Also was very chill compared to a lot of the other nonsense on here. Thanks brother.)
I would say with that set up you were correct that the monitor was a bottleneck. However it's not that the monitor makes your GPU slower, it's just missed potential upside of being able to do 1440p, ie you're not getting the full potential out of the card you've paid for. That said, a lot of pros use a 4090 at 1080p to squeeze out every last frame so there's no wrong answer Helldivers does do that. On my 3090/5950x system on high settings it will occasionally chug in the same way you've described. Because of all the AI on screen I'd assume that's a CPU limited scenario but in truth it could be either. As you're on AM4, the only upgrade that makes sense is either the 5700X3D or 5800X3D If you're jumping to AM5, then I always recommend either the 7600 or the 7800X3D for gamers. Everything else seems kind of pointless to me Hope that helps!
Ive seen people making it a huge deal, having a serious bottleneck is almost impossible these days as everyone is tied with a certain budget capacity, especially with inflations. I mean, imagine someone buying a 900$ gpu for 100$ cpu built or vice versa, its impossible for any sane person unless prices drop very hard.
Hi, I intend to upgrade my 2070 super to 4060rtx and my cpu is R5 3600. Bottleneck is 0.8%. Is that recommended? What would you recommend as I only want to upgrade my gpu. I am running on UWFHD 2560 X 1080 monitor. Your reply is appreciated :) ❤😊
Boys, its clear now! We just should not care! After watching a lot of videos and reading a lot about this trying to understand I am just done with it! He just said if your GPU is working hard and CPU is easy its a bottleneck, on some other place everybody is saying its good to have your GPU working hard fully utilized which means your cpu is strong enough... No disrespect to creator of video, Im just done, I dont care whats a bottleneck because this is everything and nothing. If GPU is working hard its good and bad and nobody can say whats a normal way around it, what is normal GPU and CPU usage when you can say you dont have bottleneck?! This means we all have bottleneck so deal with it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A bottleneck is just a description of which parts are faster than the others in your system. It doesn't matter what you do, there will always be some kind of bottleneck So you're absolutely right - the best thing to do is just enjoy your system as long as it's doing what you want it to do!
@@thecomputersurgeon absolutely! Its working and only problem I have with games is they are not optimized! I went down this rabbit hole thinking there is something wrong with it but Im having much better peformance than some people with much better components have. For example, Squad. I cap 120 fps with rtx 3060 12 gb windforce, ryzen 5 5600x, 32 gb ram and its working great even gpu- cpu usage is maybe not looking "good"! Im getting 80-120fps no problem while some people are strugling for 60. I just wanted to leave my comment to say that bottleneck is something people should stop worry about because it got bad reputation even u cant go around it, it will always be there! Thank you for your video because it helped me to realise that! 😁
The biggest Bottleneck is my Bank account.
10:40 Small correction: GPU usage under 90% indicates a CPU bottleneck.
Big correction, you mean
Really appreciate you breaking this down. You are definitely correct in saying that people make this more complicated than it needs to be.
amazing video, i never thought i could understand stuff like this😭 thank you

Well said. I'll show this video to anyone who asks about bottlenecks.
Good explainer video mate! Clear and concise information
Thanks! Hoping to see some more content from yourself soon

Agree
Incredible video man, thabkyou so much!
Thank you :)
Too many underrated TH-camrs
Thanks! TH-cam is not easy, but hopefully making a big push this year :)
Thank you! 👍🏼

That's not much of an upgrade at all. Better off saving for a 4070 super or 7800 xt
@@thecomputersurgeon do you mean my r5 3600 can pair with either 4070 super or 7800?
Excellent piece of information for someone less technical.
PS. Send her my love,
and you better come with at least ASOLO PROSECCO SUPERIORE
Thank you my friend!
She'll have Lambrini and she'll like it.
