Zeekr is owned by Geely , who also owns Lotus and Volvo. I think it will become the VW of the future , buying other car makers that cannot survive. Maybe Mercedes because they already have 10%. Zeekr is a premium brand. It’s def above BYD unless it’s a YangWang which is ultra premium.
Geely like most Chinese car makers have a confusing brands, kinda like Japan in 1980s. If Toyota were like them, the Toyopet, Netz, Corolla, which are Toyota's segmented showroom based on geographical locations and local market will be their own marque. But Geely is private owned, so it won't be as convoluted or weird as their state-owned counterparts. Geely itself is the "Chevrolet/Toyota" of middle-low segment. Then it has Lynk&Co, youth tech-oriented stuff yet very middle-upper oriented. After that it has Zeekr and Volvo, one is techier (Gen-Z and Geek "Zeekr") and the other classier. It also has Lotus, Polestar the sports-oriented brand. BYD's brand is equally as confusing but I believe Zeekr is competing between their Dynasty series and Denza, the YangWang and FangChengBao luxury models are ultra premium.
7X will be a big seller for Zeekr imo. I reckon price wise, they'll be less than you predict as Zeekr want a strong foothold in Australia and their overseas expansion strategy. I would guess an AU price of 65k for standard and 75k for premium.
Agreed, in all honesty the standard model has a massive electric rear mounted motor, and still has great range! Will definitely be the pick of the models for most buyers
@@mikafiltenborg7572 Well, according to the FCAI and EVC (Electric Vehicle Council) here in Australia, BEV sales have slowed to a dribble, hybrid sales are up by 49% and the most popular cars over the past 20 months are the diesel 4x4 ute range. It's a different market here, vast country, small population and long distances. EVs are a good fit for the cities. I'd buy a little Fiat 500 EV if I lived in a city but I'm in Regional Australia and the power grid is too patchy for a pure EV to be practical.
Nice, TX Sam. Wish you will still in due time make a detailed comparison between the Xpeng G6 and the Zeekr 7X including sensors and ADAS, manufacturing quality, suspension and drive. Best. Didier from Bordeaux France
I went to see this car in the showroom in Beijing last week, it looked much better than in the shown in the video, especially the black one, looked amazing. I'm considering to place the order.
Nio's Onvo L60 rival to this has 300,00 pre orders according to Mr P, Nio insider. 900V architecture, 3 minutes swapping, priced below this Zeekr. China mandating battery health checks next year, sales of swappable cars will explode
If I didn't buy a new GWM ute 2 years ago. I would have already ordered the 7X now. Not just because it's an EV but because it just looks so sweet and so well appointed luxury wise. It's just a horn bag
Until super charging becomes ubiqutous, many will refrain from purchasing an EV. Also 10 minute fast charging for at least 70% charge could almost be a core requirement for many drivers to make the switch to EVs. Some will be happy with slower charging rates of course. Especially those that can easily charge overnight.
Zeeker should purchase land in the foreign markets to build charging stations for their fast chargers. They could build covered buildings where owners drive inside get out of the elements go to the washroom freshen up and perhaps purchase a coffee ,snacks etc while they wait 10 minutes for their car to charge. As it would be for only Zeeker owners it would be a very premium service and a major selling point of the brand to have such exclusive service. I see in the States where people charge their EV they are mostly just big parking lots out side without even having a roof to cover your car to keep you out of the rain snow baking sun while you sit in your car for 30 minutes . If you compare to ICE cars now where there gas stations have a roof and you pull up and in 5 minutes you are gassed and on your way owning a EV is a hassle
Btw BYD - the Seal that you can buy in Germany atm charges with ~150 kW max. & it easily overheats. Watched a test recently where charging the car from 10 to 80% took 41 minutes. Even an old M3 is quicker than that
?? You said you see new cars ALMOST every day. I see new cars EVERY day. There’s a Ford dealership just down the road so I see new cars out front EVERY day.
Prices will be high for those who buy early and low for those who buy late. Thats the trend with electric cars. They do not retain their value over time.
Yeah mate of course. You can hook that up to your 6kw solar system and you'll get free charging..... At 1% speed. Maybe if you get 50 phase power you can get a fast charger?
It would be interesting to hear Sam’s comments on the latest Australian new car sales data released a few days ago by the FCAI (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries) the EVC (Electric Vehicle Council) and the independent pro EV media outlet “The Driven”. You can look it up online or in newsprint and argue amongst yourselves but essentially BEV sales have slowed to a dribble, hybrid sales are up by 44.9% (particularly PHEV’s) and diesel 4X4 utes (Hilux and Ford Ranger) remain at the top of the new sales numbers. Sam will say this is all just anti EV nonsense put out by the MSM, nothing to see here. But it’s actual data released by three seperate bodies that are pro electric. Sam shouldn’t be ignoring this.
This is the one for me. I can wait that long but the clock must stop somewhere. Waiting for the latest technology is just that. If it tows as they say, it will be a massive hit in the towing countries like ours. There is not much to fill that SUV roll.
TBF, 600 kw charge speed is a sweet spot, lets say u average 400 kw, u can drop by a charging station and get 200 km of range in 6 min. The range anxiety is kinda gone with those charge speeds. Waiting for 1000kw or something wont give u much, but going from lets say mercedes eqe with their superslow 170 kw.... too 600, makes a lot of difference. in 1-2 years we get most sorted, and it probably will not happen so much with the specs the following 5-10 years. And when talking about speed, most ppl cant even handle the 0-100 in 4 seconds, most ppl wont be happier with 2 sec... Im probably gonna buy my first BEV in first half of next year. Either the new MY if the specs are good enough, just coz the thing probably will "just work", or this X7 or similar.
Just a question Sam. Can both the Zeekr 7X and XPeng G6 be charged to 100% all the time or like Tesla 80% as recommended to prevent battery degradation...?
i have the G9 , got it in may this yr ...after 80 , 85% charged i normally stop as it slows down by a lot . once or twice i have sat it out as it was a long trip ahead ..it does get to 100% .
Hey Sam, Could you make mention of towing. This vehicle will be fantastic in Australia if the reported towing capacity is true. 2 tonne towing is perfect for lightweight camper trailers for families. "Detailed specs of the Zeekr 7X (CX1E) electric SUV from Geely were exposed by the Chinese regulator as this SUV applied for the sales license. It is a 4.8-meter crossover with up to 637 hp. It can also tow up to 2000 kg"
Biggest competition for the Chinese manufacturers is the Chinese economy. According to other media reports the economic downturn is massive and manufacturing in almost every sector have overcapacity and fierce competition. The government has been paying for expanding capacity but the customers aren't there anymore.

How is Zeekr, and for that matter Xpeng, ADAS on their current cars compared to what Tesla has done so far? I've seen Xpeng vids on LLM development so they appear to be going ahead but also seen owner vids from Sweden about G9 niggles.
