- In this pastel demonstration I show you how I paint gold without using metallic gold with PanPastels and Pastel Pencils on Pastelmat with my brush technique, which is how I work these days.
I use masking film to prevent halos around my subjects and show you how I mix colours with PanPastels if I don’t have the hue or colour.
The PanPastel colours I use are as follows:-
Raw Umber group
Yellow Ochre group
Orange group
Black and Titanium White
Turquoise Group and touch of Black for the background
The art supplies I use are listed below:
Pan Pastels
Pastel Pencils
Pastelmat by Clairefontaine
Glassine Paper to protect work while I was painting
Gum eraser & Kneaded eraser
Sofft Tools
Synthetic makeup brush for applying, blending and adding details.
Mask IT masking film by X-Press IT
Exacto knife
Thank you for watching.
I would like to read about your experiences with Pastels on Pastelmat paper /board and would be happy to answer any questions about the painting or the supplies I use in my art journey.

Completed this metallic/gold teacup and saucer study. I used this study to do 2 things, 1. Don't rush and 2. Painting gold without using metallic colours with PanPastels. I was very conscious to take my time and not to rush, so I did just that, I’m an impatient person and really struggle with trying to hold back from finishing artwork quickly. I used PanPastels and Pastel Pencils for details on Pastelmat. The PanPastel colours used are Raw Umber Group, Yellow Ochre Group, Orange Group with Turquoise group for the background.
May I ask with brushes you’re using?
Fantastic! Bravo! Merci! 1000% 👌👌👌🤗🥳💖🍀🎄❄️⛄🎉
