- The king has been very good to me.
He promoted me from a simple maid to be a marchioness.
Then he raised me to be a queen.
Now he will raise me to be a martyr.
This year I was really afraid I wouldn't make it, you know between quarantine, Coronavirus, work from home, deadlines, laboratories, exams and serious problems with my hard disk I feared this video would have never came to light. But here we are, my undying love and respect for Anne Boleyn always motivate me to vid her on this tragic anniversary, as it happens for a lot of fellows editors. The biggest mistake Anne Boleyn did was a simple miscalculation of Henry VIII. Like many people before and after her she thought that she is able to deal with him and his moods. Few years ago I had a Bolleyn obssesd period when I was fascinating with her story. Her story is still very dear to me. But I think The real martyrs are men executed on 17 th May, at least some of them. Even though I strongly dissagree with her execution as same as with Mores one, I cant see her as simple victim. She played a dangerouse game and she lost. She was too proud and too sure with her position, her behavior towards Catherine was unacceptable and she played a part in destruction of many peoples life. But she was also victim of her fathers own ambitions. I am sad that she was executed, because they could find another way for example simply exiled her because to be honest? Nobody would help her in exile. But without Anne Boleyn England wouldnt be England as we know today.
When I first heard about Anne Boleyn I was in middle school and my English teacher was obsessed with the War of Roses. But she had also several bias and as soon as I started researching these themes on my own (about 3-4 years later) I realized that. With time I realized she was a much more complex person than what most movies/tv series/or books (Philippa Gregory I'm judging you) thinks. What really happened in the decade Anne and Henry entertained their relationship is very difficult to understand, but what I'm sure about was that she fell in a spiral of things she could never fully control. She did not want to sleep with the King without being married because this would have destroyed her reputation (like it had happened with her sister Mary) and she wanted to marry someone else, but Henry being the tyrant he was never allowed it. Which left her with little choice, and as Margarey Tyrell said "Women in our position must make their best of their circumstances". This is what Anne did, Eric Ives gives a great analysis of all her rise and fall, and the historical context, quoting a lot of letters and documents of that time, I kindly suggest anyone interested in this topic to read it :)
hellokafkiana Philipa Gregory deserves to be judged. What she writes is not history. She uses to much gossips, creates dramas which is not necessary at all and portraites history events on her own. One book was more than enough from her. And she is The author according to whose works are TV shows creat. Why They dont choose Allisons Weir books instead? I heard about Eric Ives book but it is very expensive one. I also do not purchase much history books in English but now I ordered Lorenzos Magnificent biography so I will se how hard it is for me to read this type of book in English :)

i understand that her behaviour with catherine was unacceptable but anne had no choice. she wanted to marry someone else. However her fathers greed led to her death. And no one can say no to henry since he was king.

I love this so much! Poor Anne Boleyn, her father was power hungry she never wanted any of the weight that came with the crown. The way people try to put her down is horrible she was innocent yes she made mistakes but that’s exactly what made her human.
