Idk if anyone here will believe it or not, but I'll be scoring like 25-30 marks in the optional paper this year. I had 0 optional preparation and geography has such huge syllabus 😅. Although my GS papers went decent, my optional was a total disaster. I can only imagine what the examiner must be thinking while checking my copy 😅 like how on earth did this guy clear prelims. Edit- Thats why I agree with the point mentioned in the video that focus on your glaring weakness - if you are scoring 220 in optional (in my case 22 😂)
I think aapko vahi subject optional mein lena chahiye jo aapke liye interesting ho jisse aap bore na ho Kabhi bhi.ulta aapko gs k liye time nikaalna pade ki bhyi abhi gs bhi karna hai. Optional special frnd hota hai jisme jitna time invest karoge vo utna hi loyal hoga tumahri taraf and gs like envyee frnd jo time paas hote hein..... Kyonki aise frnd sbke hote hein. Agar geography aapka aisa subject hai to hi lena optional mein otherwise kuch or dekho.vese marks k behalf par to lgta nahi ye aapka fav. Subject hai. 😂
Geography is my optional also and I am able to devote 80% of the time to it. Also agriculture and many other parts help in gs3 and prelims. So I think the cost benefit ratio is also high.
@@Happiness-z9v I completely agree. When I started the preparation, I didn't know the pros and cons of the subjects. I chose geography thinking it'll be a static "just learn and vomit" kind of subject. But as it turns out, it's not. I am not in a position to change my optional just yet, all my notes are already prepared. I'll have to risk it for one more attempt. But ofcourse I'll never recommend this subject to anyone else 😅
@@Prakashkumar-dn3il I cleared prelims primarily coz of geography. It has huge overalap with multiple subjects. But I don't think the cost benefit is there, the syllabus is infinite, ill defined and very broad. Scoring 270+ in geography is a huge challenge. Especially in paper 2. So prelims and GS shouldn't be a factor in choosing the optional, and the "interest" part fades away when you are asked to learn hundreds of pages of pure text 🙂🙂
sir i'm going to start my preperation in this week for UPSC.. i don't want to give my attempt in 2025.. i'll give it in 2026 so please give me some suggestions for maintaining sustainability and consistency which help in thorough preperation upto 2026 prelims
Good evening sir , I had a question while filling the form of UPSC caste. Sir, my father was employed in PSU as an engineer and my mother is housewife. In 2022 my father passed away at age 54. When he was in service i was coming under creamy layer but now since he is no more, am i eligible for OBC-NCL. And one more thing is that now our gross income is only from other sources (interest from bank deposit) which exceeds 8 lakh. My mother files the ITR. So am I eligible for OBC-NCL.
Sir if i join upsc essential course starting this oct. Whether I should plan for 2025 attempt or 2026. I am working professional will be starting from scratch.
I wrote mains this year, but don't want to waste time till mains result. What should i do right now should i go fir pre mocks or go for loop holes which i identified
Sir if I have made notes for all GS papers, essay & both optional papers with decent amount of value addition Should I solely focus on memorizing those notes & can leave answer writing for post-prelims?

Hardcore, but I don't think it'll be that bad. And yes, focusing on geography right now might be the best idea.

12 months before Prelims ke current affairs karne hain.
Newspaper padhte raho, but the consolidated preparation for current can be done via magazines.
So should I read only newspaper now and focus on completing my optional.. And cover current affairs from pt? Is this a good idea air. @@UPSCprepIAS

Plug in the gaps of answer writing + start working on your DAF for personality test
