    Pro tip from an HVAC tech: take the whole roll of tubing and lay it down on the table and unroll it down the table. You will have more torque on the pipe to make those straight lines. Then use your roller tool to get completely straight of you're a perfectionist

    Nice results, I think it's a good job bending, installing and painting the Copper tube.
    I don't know exactly if copper is overkilling for this use, tipically copper is used for high pressure (between 20 psi and 400 psi), zero reaction with the refrigerant or fluid and killing bacteria

  • @b5a5m5
    @b5a5m5 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'd recommend straightening out the pipe before cutting it. This way you don't have 2 ends that are difficult to straighten by hand, and also, the cutter is less likely to walk on you.

    • @HawkFest
      @HawkFest 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ..Or don't powder coat it at all? You'd get the same oxidation color layer as some domes on old buildings, which could look pretty neat. And after it formed, it actually protects the tube then after, as well as can do powder coating (and nicer, if most of the rest is black for instance - and I'll never, EVER limit my color pallet to NVIDIA's green/lime stuff, this is my build of my own taste not theirs).

  • @TSPxEclipse
    @TSPxEclipse 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Personally a matching lime-green powder coat on the tubing would look a lot better than black. It would add more aestheticism to the build instead of making the cooling system look moreso like just another feature. Also, I would only use 90 degree angles, but it's all preference.

    The one thing I really dont like with most water cooled builds is when poeple (especially using rigid pipe) but a diagonal peice going straight from thing to another, in my opinion it would look better (and not take much longer) to put a bend in it make look a lot better

    • @kairu.kun.z
      @kairu.kun.z 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Millar I agree, the weird diagonal copper tubing doesn't look right. Just do a few 90 degree bends

    • @texasdeeslinglead2401
      @texasdeeslinglead2401 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Millar that's how an old time plumber does bends ,if they are , what we call , show pieces. In other words visible to passerby's.

    • @vivimu
      @vivimu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      every bend increases resistance in the water flow.

    • @texasdeeslinglead2401
      @texasdeeslinglead2401 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremiah Johnson usually , us old dirty plumbers use a log type table to verify resistant / cavitation / velocity issues with FU demand pressure , velocity , resistance by number of fittings and degrees of each fitting, all related to pipe size and incoming pressure.
      In the desktop computer typically its of no appreciable value.

    • @vivimu
      @vivimu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +texasdee slinglead this water isn't under extreme pressure it's pushed by a small pump less bends the better. if it doesn't matter why even de-burr the inside of the pipes. just use 1/8" coiled tubing and make the biggest spiral slinky you can fit into the case. these are tech nerds who want the best performance, hence the water cooling in the first place. nobody would make it less efficient knowingly

  • @rbuck145
    @rbuck145 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why would you use a specific or dedicated water cooling type of fitting with a o ring that type of device is prone to leaking anyway , at least in my trade , instead of either a standard brass compression fitting with a compression ring (brass) or simply just using type m rigid tubing instead of soft copper and just soldering fittings together? I'm sure there has to be a way to remove any left over flux from inside the pipe. Then maybe have it nickel plated or something. Just asking cause I'm going to be doing a custom water loop soon and I'm a commercial plumber. thanks for your replies in advance.

    Holy cow , if an apprentice showed up on the job with a tubing straightener , I'd have a really good long lesson session for the rest of the damn day on how plumbers straighten tubing , using a very flat surface . mother of goodness , call a plumber , give em dinner and a few beers and your p.c. would look rad as heck. And no ridiculously over priced yuppy tools.

    i get that it will definetly help dissipate heat but what about corrosion or some hidden factors idk tell me!

    What is the optimal wall thickness for a 12mm pipe or 1/2 inch pipe. They always come out too flat or kinked on the bends and I do have a good Ridgid bender (used though).

    • @rossclutterbuck1060
      @rossclutterbuck1060 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ccricers : most 12mm pipe I've seen as a wall thickness of 0.6mm, which gives you a Wall Factor of 20. With a Wall Factor that high, you're unlikely to be able to a bend tighter than 3D (3 x diameter), so if you're kinked then I'd suggest your bender's bend radius is less than 36mm.

    inb4 one of the waterblocks/radiators is made of aluminum and it all corrodes.

      The blocks are nickel-plated copper and the radiators are copper and brass. No corrosion worries at all. :)

      This is old news that doesn't happen any more.
      If the blocks and fittings are anodised (which all are, or should be by now) then bare copper has no problem.
      The liquid you should be using would have non corrosive properties or if not, then a thin layer of rust will form on the copper which would stop the reaction.

  • @kbauer57

    I probably would have capped off the ends before powder coating, the inside is just gonna get a light dusting that will just flake off over time an burn out a pump or look horrible in a res.

    Unbent glass tubing with black anodized/nickel plated joints is where it's at.

    The music at 7:58 is "A Little Touch" by Casey Dunmore. Found it on iTunes on Electro Score... seems like an album of short electronic music for video work.
